    Biggest killer for your plant is overthinking. Give water only when needed and check ph. Give plenty of light for certain hours. Trim when needed. Top if needed. Let it thrive. Towards the end of flowering the plant will take nutrients from itself and begin to wilt and yellow. It's harvest time. Good luck

    Last year, I successfully grew a cannabis plant to harvest using a planter pot with drainage holes, and a plant trolley. I got them for a $1.25 each at Dollar Tree! I filled it with (moist) soil, planted the seed (germination technique optional), watered it from the top ONCE, and kept the trolley filled with water at the bottom and viola! I just kept it outside the whole time and let nature do its thing. No pH checks or anything. Hope that helps.

      20 g’s a plant isn’t a good yield 😂💀🤦🏽‍♂️ i mean it’s a good place to start but it’s really easy to squeeze up to 9-12 ounces out of 1 plant with a simple grow light 2 computer fans and a medium and large storage tote with a 9$ humidifier and 20$ de humidifier 🤷🏽‍♂️ also depends on the strain but i grow pink runts and the storage totes do the “training” for me , medium tote urges the plant to grow outwards cause theirs a lid overhead to stop it from just stretching up and not out , the larger tote for when it branches out will allow it to finally stretch when i top it off 🤷🏽‍♂️ overall doesn’t take up no more space than a small walk in closet ( basically where my setup is lmao) then rest of the closet is for the confirmed females so the accidental males in the incubator totes don’t pollinate my females 🤷🏽‍♂️ pretty cheap and easy set up and always keep plants in rotation , soon ill have 3 medium totes and 3 large so i can have a steady cycle of start to harvest. p.s if you copy my setup , make sure you route the exhaust fan out of the grow closet/ tent otherwise your gonna accidentally pollinate your females on the outside of you incubators , also a good idea to basically just have both intake and exhaust fans routed out of the tent or closet , keeps your females from producing low quality seeded buds

    The part about bag seed simply isn't true, I had an entire collection of bag seed from buds over the year and it's actually rare for one of them to be a male or herm, a good 90% of the time I find a seed and sprout it, it turns out for be fire and several of my all time biggest frostiest plants came from bag seed. It's a waste to not try them and spend $150 on 10 seeds online that have damn near the same chance of being herm or male even from reputable breeder sometimes.

    The best tip for beginners who wanna grab a hold of this hobby with a nice yield from the start is to do dwc hydroponics. Grab a net pot (30cents), a bucket 15-20l (free or 5 bucks),ph meter(10 bucks), an aquarium pump (10 bucks) and you are set. Ok you need nutrients but the basic stuff is cheap like 20 bucks and you are good to go. As a beginner reading a plant can be difficult and in hydroponics when you follow the guide and work clean there is zero to no chance to make a yield destroying mistake.

      in my expirience hydroponics makes the worst weed, tastewise
      yieldwise you might be correct, but if you only do it for yield youre on the wrong path anyways
      also, you CANT grow organic on hydro, only with chemical/synthetic fertilizers
      i recommend if you wanna become a good grower and not just make some quick big buds to start groing organic and expect a really low yield, use as least fertilizers as possible and dedicate yourself to the craft, maybe look zo what supersoil is and/or make a supersoil, trs out some SIMPLE mixtures, not more than a few incridients
      for example a basic earth, some perlit, peat, some animals pellets, chicken pellets are the best from what i heard, some dolomite silica and youre pretty much ready to start
      if i would start from scratch all over again, i would NEVER go the synthetical/chemical fertilizer way, even tho it DOES produce a higher yield
      dont panic its organic

    Here's the deal with Bag Seeds I'm gonna lay this to Rest for many New Growers;
    A) You find several seeds within a single bag, like 8-10+ in an 8th or 15+in a Quarter.
    B)You find ONE single good seed within an entire bag, hidden deep within one of the nugs, a lone Rogue Seed by itself.
    *A] DO NOT PLANT THEM. If you find several seeds, odds are it is a Hermaphrodite or Male.*
    *B] PLANT IT. It is likely a freak genetic identical copy of whatever plant it derived from, literally a Clone of its Parent, almost 100% guaranteed to be Female (and a good one if the bud it came from was good).*
    I hope this helps. Took alot of research and experimentation to figure this out and I am 99% certain this is the Rule with bag seeds. Happy Growing 🤘

      This is so wrong I don't even know where to start...
      First, bag seeds would be what are called f1 crosses, and are known to have what's called hybrid vigor. They grow EVEN BETTER in many cases because of this. The sex of the seeds will be a mix of male and female. I don't know where you're getting this idea that it will be mostly male seeds because it's not true at all. You can breed to have feminized seeds if you want. But, in a regular bag of weed, the seeds are almost always from someone having pollen from a male plant they use to make more seeds, getting in the main flowering room on accident.
      Why do they want seeds instead of clones? Because seeds grow better than clones. The reason you use clones is to make sure you have stable genetics in a grow. Is it easier to grow 100 of one kind of cannabis in a grow? Or, is it easier if you plant 100 different strains that will all need different amounts of fertilizer and nutrients, and also won't finish at the same time? If you have a grow of all the same exact genetic copies, it's much easier to manage. That's why you use clones.
      Some growers don't want to sacrifice that little bit of quality for stability. So, they make seeds and breed them to be as genetically stable as possible, and use those instead. Which, is what I do. They'll mostly finish at the same time, and mostly use the same amount of nutrients. Again, a big mix of stuff and you'll have one plant loving the nutrient mix, while it kills others. Each plant will require different doses of nutrients. They'll also be different sizes. Which, if indoors, will make it difficult to keep an even canopy for the lights. You'd have everything from short, squat indicas, to long and lanky sativas.
      Again, getting a seed out of a bag will most likely result in a high quality plant. The seeds will be a mix of male and female. Not a mix of male and hermies. So, you'll have to distinguish which is which when flowering.
      But, since the seeds are the offspring of one plant that's gotten pollen on it, they'll be f1 crosses. You just won't have each seed from the bag be identical to the others when grown. The genetics will still be varied until it is selectively bred to do otherwise. But, that would then be an f2 cross. F1 means familial first. F2 is the offspring of two f1 plants.
      If you're only growing a few plants outdoors, using seeds from random bags isn't really going to be a problem. They'll work great! It's when you have an indoor set up and want to keep everything the exact same that you go to clones. Even then, a lot of growers will allow their male plants to pollinate the females for seeds. While they won't be exact genetic copies like a clone. They will still be fairly close to the same as they share similar DNA.
      I could keep going, but I won't. I'm not trying to offend you. You're just putting out some really, really bad information here and want to correct it before someone takes your advice seriously. A bag seed has a 50/50 chance of being male or female. They'll be f1 seeds, and be high quality. You just won't have genetic stability with bag seeds. Which, is really only a problem in bigger commercial grows. In a backyard personal set up, bag seeds will work just fine.

  • @TheCharacter97
    @TheCharacter97 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Saying that if you find a seed in your bag of weedand attempt to grow it that you will get a hermie is somewhat false. If the plant in question you have gotten the bud from (and found the seed) was a hermaphrodite, then you will most likely get a hermie growing that seed. However, if your females were polinated males, you have a 50/50 chance on either getting a male or a female plant. Getting a hermaphrodite out of your plants from seed means tour plants were either stressed out or the mother plant that carried the seeds was a hermaphrodite and increase your chances of you getting a hermie as well due to genetics being passed on.
    I bought on purpose an oz of seeded bud (pollinated by the males) and attempted to grow some seeds. Now, I had chances of getting males and females so I started 20 plants or so. Slected my best specimens early on and tossed out the rest only keeping a few for personal use. I currently have all females with no signs of hermi-ing out. My plants are outside and get 1/4 rotation/day, get a bit of compost topping with a bit of natural fertiliser every 2 weeks. I rather growing outside because its cheaper, easier to get a nice, full canopy of leaves everywhere on the plant. Now, I will just stop my comment here since I pretty much gave my thoughts on them saying the seed you find in your bag of weed will grow a hermie and dont need to rant more like I am already doing.

    • @swskitso
      @swskitso 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1 random seed means its was possibly a herme mother which means the genetics may likely be prone to herme as well.

    • @TheCharacter97
      @TheCharacter97 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swskitso Oh ok so my comment was more about a bag of buds full of seeds rather than 1 seed in my bag. So what the video was refefering to is that if I found 1 random seed, then it is highly prone to being a hermie rather than male or female? If thats what it is then I understand, at that time though, I thought if you got bud from a plant that got pollinated and carries seeds then you would get a hermie with those seeds.

    • @swskitso
      @swskitso 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whether its one seed or a bag full if you dont know the growth history then you cant be sure what caused the seeding.

      @TheCharacter97 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swskitso oh well. I risked myself by planting seeds from a bag full of pollinated flowers. I now have a few nice females flowerings currently.
      To me its more like planting and apple seed from an apple you bought at the store and planting it type of game. You might have bought a McIntosh, but you sure wont get that from the seed you will be planting. Same goes for weed, if you take a seed, you dont know what you will get as in an uncontrolled pollinating environement, your seeds will grow with their own genetics and take traits from the most dominant genes of the prrvious generation.

    • @swskitso

    When growing multiple strains, don't forget to check how each cultivar is described to stretch during flower (if this information isn't available on the product page, contact the breeder - they're usually very helpful, and feel proud that someone is considering their strain).
    Some strains could have a similar height during veg, yet really shoot up soon after the lights have been flipped. Even when the canopy is managed, and you have the branches growing horizontally after a top, they could stretch right over some less stretchy cultivars.
    Indica/Sativa won't help, because with hybridisation you could get many varying heights and qualities from either at different stages of growth. Best to get all the information you can.

No constant problems trying to figure out what's wrong with this and that. Just water your dark green and impervious to pests crop. Harmful insects literally can't even see healthy organic plants.
    Next thing I learned was don't do short (1 month) veg periods. Do a 2-month veg and triple your harvest of bud.
    It seems a lot of people take issue with using bag seed. Its perfectly fine if you are just running a few plants. Once you have a room full of them and especially when its harder to get in and inspect them, a herm will cause big problems. In theory, the pollen came from a hermed female, and therefore should be removed from the gene pool. If your bag seed produces 50% males, its actually safer. Just don't forget to pull the males :-)

      @demsandlibsareswinecancer4667 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      First you say don't use fertilizer ever but then you speak about amending. What do you think you're doing when you are amending? It's called fertilizing. Mineral fertilizers are just the broken down processed version of any organic Amendment you put in the soil. You are simply allowing the soil to do the work for you of breaking it down and making it available for the plant. But it's still nitrogen and phosphorus and potassium Etc because plants don't eat things like blood meal or worm casting. I think what you meant was you will never go back to using bottled liquid or soluble nutrients. You are sticking with living organic. For outdoor growing this is truly the best way I agree. When you move indoor however things change dramatically. Unless you're just a hobby grower growing a few plants in 15 gallon pots indoors then you can continue with living Organics but be ready for the pests that will come along for the ride.

    While all are 14 weeks. 1 is 1/4 the size of the rest. It is growing but at a snails pace. It's only 5 inches tall. The other 3 are 2.5-4 feet. I'm curious so I'm going to try to keep it alive over our 7 month winter. I don't care if its female. For it's size it has a lot of growth. It's entire life the light has been diminishing so it shouldn't try to flower I hope.

      @DustinReee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      A light system with a dimmable switch/knob is ideal for that particular reason. If by chance it still seems to powerful then maybe consider raising the light itself higher above the canopy. You want complete coverage and but also enough power to penetrate down into the middle of the canopy for optimal lighting towards the mid/lower branches of the plant. Note to make sure you have enough air flow and distribution inside of the grow area. Not having an exhaust air source can and will lead to temperatures to exceed the optimal zone and will eventually create an environment for bugs/pests. Hopefully this helps some people out. Now I'm no means a professional but I'm a 42 year old stoner who is willing to help other new growers. Stay lifted and happy growing!!

    For me, had good luck with bag seeds in the day but now rare to get those and who knows what their history is. I found the best is to buy feminized seeds. The great thing is they tend to only get 2-3 feet high and are ready to harvest in 4 +/- months. Plus always female!. This year I had a few seeds from last years fem seeds, neighbor must of had some males, lol. All grew and budded perfect and I'm smoking a big bowl now!!! Over a years worth for free last years crop was $50 for seed $20 on dirt put in old tote, drilled holes for drain $5 for small bag of vegetable fertilizer, organic. Grew outside Southern California, just pick bugs off, especially little bud worms! Water and feed. Way more work than most realize but worth it!! Even drying and curing is work almost more than growing one wrong step and you have a lot of harsh smoke. Z.K.

Plus one key factor is GENETICS GENETICS 💯% when I say genetics I’m talking taking a bag seed from a bag that you get from a reputable & reliable source that you frequent with a little LUCK you can pop that seed male or female 50/50 chance it turns out female you give it a healthy vigorous life & 80% of the time will be decent if not better. If it’s male let it grow pods then pull it up without bursting the sacks shove it in a plastic garbage bag clip off some branches and save in a glass jar to pollinate the females at the end of harvest to produce seeds that can make you a strain of your own that as long as you like it that’s all that matters. Haters are going to hate. 💯%

If you don't understand fully, you won't understand why is happening what. Also, it requires more vigilante overseeing, to keep microbes alive the soil MUST be constantly wet which in inexperienced growers results in overwatering. The same goes with auto feeding systems... which are not advised for new growers... wrong and misleading video, why are you doing this...

    You have to live in a good place for this to work.

    Anyone have some advice for someone looking to grow outside in the UK? More specifically South Wales! Are certain strains better to grow at different months of the year? Are there strains that could grow in the colder months (October through to like january)? Everything I see online is for the US and I can tell you now, Wales isn’t California 😂

      Outside in the UK? You guys don't have the sun or humidity levels that would be very forgiving for a cannabis plant. I would recommend indoors.

    cannabis can definitely be left alone.. Especially outdoors. its Literally a weed. Not sure how you can mess it up if it does everything on its own

    Bag seeds can be female, if you give the right conditions then you can get females most of the time

    Hey i got a question. If the plant is turning the leaf's yellow at the bottom with brown spots and the others are starting to do this what could it be. I'm only using Alaska fish fertilizer should i add something to stop this or is it a bug?. *Its a outdoors bucket plant*

      In the veg state? Sounds like maybe a deficiency. Try a cal mag foliar spray and check your temperature isn't too high. Hope it helped.
