So cool to see one that's not just the Leviathan box. Tryannofex always looks the coolest with the fleshborer hive, even if it's objectively the worse choice. Rule of cool.
Edit: The continually matching the roll-off to who goes first is always a treat. The dice gods have blessed us.
I don't think it's better than the acid spray but the FBH has such an insane number of shots that it might be fine with the hyper Adaptive rule just to fish for as many 6s as possible. Maybe Ap0 kills it but it's a LOT of volume regardless
@@iridiumessence2958 would be good for other horde armies like orks potentially where the lack of ap isn't as important
@@iridiumessence2958 Fleshborer already has Sustained Hits 1, so if you used any Hyper Adaptation with this it'd probably be the one that gives Precision on 6's.
My question is, say you roll the expected three 6's.
Each of those gives an extra hit, but do those extra hits have Precision?
How many go to the character, 3 or 6?
My favorite Tryannofex is the one that can spawn the babie gaunts. Looks so cool and has the gaunts peeking there heads out ready to attack lol
@@kamikeserpentail3778 I'm not sure either but so far I've seen people play it the way that make 3 then go Precision and the 3 new Generated attacks go to Wounding.
Ballistus dreadnought wasn't cheating on marine turn 1 it gets 2 shots with it's lascannons
Also, the damage is supposed to be D6+1, not a straight D6 I believe.
Yeah Matt's gaslighting sometimes is crazy. Granted all twin linked weapons did get put down to one weapon profile but still, that hurt to watch.

I think they meant less rerolls for other armies. Marines (and eldar), are supposed to be "elite", meaning lower model count. Without making their stats higher, rerolls is maybe the easiest way to make them more powerful.

Loved the space marine player, was a super fun battle report, keep it up! Going to follow 10th edition very closely, way more streamlined and easy to follow as to someone who doesn't actively play table top!
Really fun match! Matt is really good at making thing so clear every turn, one of the best guys to learn from with these batreps.
It felt like the marines were making the comeback but too little too late. Cards make it interesting!
this is the best looking tabel i have seen in years. the stairs an hight diferens realy add more than i imagend.
Repluser defense array is best rule ever. That unit was such a chore to shoot in 9th

Error spotted:
In 10th edition, you cannot park a model ON TOP of an objective, which would substantially alter the positioning of the Tyrannofex.
We ignore that rule, given that it leads to a lot of bad situations where charges are blocked. I think you'll find that it will eventually disappear from 10th edition for everybody else too.

@@miniwargaming I like using 3D objective markers for greater immersion and a sense that the armies are actually fighting over something rather than engaging in some abstract sports exercise. I don't view that as a bad situation to be avoided, just another variable to take into account, same as with any other bit of terrain.
But of course you're hobby veterans and it's good you've settled on the house rules you want for the edition.

Wow, armor saves were so much more relevant. Also there were way less re-rolls, even with SM. Especially for the "to hit". I can't wait to play this edition this weekend

Not exactly. It works like armor of contempt did, so models with a 3+ save or better don't get cover against ap -0.

Biggest mistake I saw was ending moves on top of objectives, new edition, plenty of mistakes will be made but just pointing that out as a friendly fyi
We ignore that rule because it causes a lot of issues with objectives blocking charge lanes. All you have to do is stand behind an objective and you often can't be charged by larger models.

Not that it truly mattered, but on turn 1, did Matt only roll two dice for the Flyrant's FNP from the two devastating hits caused by the Sternguard Heavy Bolter? Shouldn't that have been four FNP since the weapon has a damage characteristic of 2?

if I'm doing my math right and just multiplying 6x6x... for each pair of shared numbers since it's a 1/6 chance each time twice, it was a 1/60,000,000 roughly for that many shared results

I thought I saw a rule about cover saves not working on 3+ or better but Matt has rolled a 2+ save, same thing in game against Vanguard few days back
yeah. if your model already has a 3+ save and is in cover, then you won't be able to improve your save against 0 AP weapons. however if you're being shot by weapons with 1 AP or higher you will recieve the benefit of cover.
So a 3+ save model in cover that is being shot by a -1 AP weapon will still have a 3+ save. 2+ save model in cover being shot by -1 AP would still be a 2+, etc
I'm haven't seen the part of the video you're referring to so I don't know if he did it correctly.

No the +2 would become +3 in cover. The reason the +1 cover works like that for +3 is because the ap would make the +3 a +4 which would cause the cover save bonus to kick in moving you back to a +3. The +2 would move to a +3 and thus not get the benefits of cover regardless
@@rb4863 On page 44 of the rules under Benefit of Cover it says "Models with a Save characteristic of 3+ or better cannot have the Benefit of Cover against attacks with an Armor Penetration characteristic of 0"
This means a 2+ being targeted by an AP -1 weapon would indeed get the benefit of cover, retaining its 2+ save, as you only ignore the benefit of cover against AP 0 weapons attacks.
So AP 0 and AP -1 would both leave a 2+ as a 2+ and a 3+ as a 3+.
@@rb4863 No. Rules as written states you add 1 to the armour's saving throw when benefiting from cover. A 2+ armour save would act as a 1+ when faced with AP higher than 0. Which keeps the save at 2+.
You can never make a saving throw of 1+ but you can use it to cancel out AP.
Does not apply to models with a Save of 3+ or better AGAINST ATTACKS OF AP 0.

Whst i like about mwg batreps are the lists. A lot of times they dont bring the meta lists and the gameplay itself is also not try hard. This looked like a more or less realistic battle lorewise and the terrain is basically always on point.

You can't charge thru models even if they are yours. That death leaper charge wasn't legit at all. It was blocked by the terrain and the screamer killer. Games workshop even did a video about charging in the new edition.
Probably is a good idea to reroll the D6 damage unsaved wounds with the winged tyrant rather than the overwatch with the screammer since he can target himself if I am not mistaken and you can use it even if you already that stratagem this turn, meaning that with perfectly adapted you could potentially reroll 3 different save rolls with him
My plan is to Rapid Ingress the Winged Hive Tyrant using 1 CP, to avoid Oath of Moment.
From my understanding you can Deep Strike turn 1, as it is only in the strategic reserves section that states they cannot come in until turn 2.
Then it can use Will of the Hive Mind on itself or another ally for 0CP Rapid Regeneration.
@@kamikeserpentail3778 Turn 1 deep strikes will not work in most games, as the restriction is present in the mission rules (as opposed to the core rules, which is kinda odd). I am fairly certain that the card/mission pack has this restriction in place for all games played with it.
How do you guys feel about the benefit of cover rule? I think it's not worded or applied well from what we are seeing.

Oh, right off the bat, they did it that way with the objectives because there's a mission modification that gives another one in No Man's Land so this way you remove two in Battle Round 5

That cover save rule that allows you to pull from either side of a unit seems a bit broken....
Consistently throughout these early games, either Marines are just that devastating now, or nids are just that much squishier now. Understanding no points are out so in a lot of ways its unbalanced and not the big picture.
Marines are very powerful against armies like nids that rely on single model key synergy pieces and have a lot of chaff. They're hopefully going to struggle more against horde armies with more meaningful units like Orks or Drukhari?

@@kamikeserpentail3778 wtf are you talking about? did you actually watch the batrep ? almost nothing from matts army died. even with full rerolls the hive tyrant just barely died. it should have died from the dread and one tank alone. tyranids are crazy tanky.
Interesting battlereport. I know they can't say points yet but from rumors I'm guessing this is around 1500pts. The SM player's dice just didn't want to cooperate and Luka's were great, it happens. The lack of AP was noticable which does seem to confirm 9ths design choices, even if "lethal hits" is so common. Lack of strategem slowdown was nice to see but I am noticing a lot of time remembering leader rules interactions with their units.
My main surprise was how ineffective the terminators have been in CC across numerous battlereports with their upscaled stats and it was on display again here. Also yet another report where the biologis was useless. Warriors were quite good though I'm curious how they'd hold up against a more shooty army/faction.
bringing melee SM was an interesting choice.

Love matt batt reps!!!!! @39:07 matt said he used his one and only command point, but then used a command point again in opponents turn to give FNP to screamer. Do you get cp's in each players turn in 10th?
Yes each player gets a CP at the start of each command phase for a total of 10 CP over the game

I am considering buying a box of Leviathan to start an army of tyrants I don't have any other miniatures of the tyrants the ones in the box would be my first figures that I would have there is a friend who is also going to buy it for him and they don't want the tyrants and he offered me buy them but I really don't know if it's worth doing or not I know that many people in the hobby think that I should play with the miniatures that I like the most but I like to win so you recommend me to have two boxes of nest strips for a competitive environment Or do I buy something else? And if it is something else that you think I should buy to complete what comes in the box? Thank you
