The skybox changes to purple when you're under the tree or in the branches!

just a few days ago I created a dwarf pala in classic and was surprised to find a sink in the Kharanos inn, so they were under our noses all along

I think I recall seeing a guard tower around the city that was filled specifically with "outcast" factions of night elves (demon hunters, death knights, and dark rangers). It's nice to see them getting representation within the city, and also in the implication that it's kind of awkward for all of them to be there (but also that they take some comfort out of each other *also* being outcasts).
Were there's Warlocks there, too? I feel like Warlocks would be the most reviled.

Apparently the city is still being built. Thaelin, a Dark Iron, mentions that work will need to be done to have a full city around the base of the tree and in its roots, and that he has some ideas.
Him looking at the giant stone statue multiple times but not really seeing it really bothered me 🥲😂

This came with a blue post. This isn't the finished product. It takes time to build things up. There will be more to come for the capital. They can't build someting giant in 2 months lol

@@jasondeandulierjr.299 well from a dev standpoint sure...but from a lore standpoint I feel they do a bit better than some puddles in the ground and like 4 buildings. I'd love to see something in the same size as Darnasses but doubting the devs will do that much.
Needs less generic buildings, need temples and tree buildings.

There's still some things that need to be changed:
1. The sunrays to lunar rays
2. The music to Night Elf music
3. The green environment tint to pink/blue
4. The skybox
it'd look too much like Darnassus
even though, I think they should have an area in the new city that reminds you of the old capital, maybe get the old ost in there too

The tree really SHOULD be in Kalimdor somewhere, narratively it just fits the Night Elves original identity as "Guardians of Kalimdor" if it's not halfway across the world.
Like it's nice having these NPC's labeled as visitors from x y z zones, and having the portals. But just from an actual story perspective, since WoW Capitals are 'the main base' of a group, it would just feel way more sensible for it to be near the actual homeland of the NEs, because their culture was defined by service to those lands.
Well I'm not sure where this is by location, but it WOULD make sense to have your capital in a place where your people live, that's the point of a capital. I mean sure, Japanese emperors for instance placed and replaced capitals based on their court wherever they liked, but cities are a place of industry, learning, commerce and nost just a nice place.
Even Darnassus had villages supporting it (assumedly) and it was connected to Darkshore via sailing.
Well lore wise the NE were kinda split in a diaspora after the burning. Some went as refugees to SW, I think some went to Hyjal and lived under that tree for a while, and others still spread out to wherever they had friends or kept fighting in whatever current conflict there was. There will probably still be many who stay at Hyjal and protect Darkshore, Ashenvale, and the other ancestral NE lands, but the new home is to give those who want it a new start, and for all NEs to have somewhere guaranteed safe and welcoming whenever they need it

@@Marqrk Good answer. They absolutely were fractured after the Fourth War. Not all Night Elves are warriors, and many would wish to be away from the places where such horrors happened. Amirdrassil is so, so safe. It's wonderful for them to be able to feel safe again.
As for Kalimdor the night elves are still there too.
They really should use the Darnassus music to play on our nostalgia and sell it as the new capital.
This honestly reminds me of the Dreamgrove. I haven't played Druids for very long, but this is like an even prettier dreamgrove to me.
I don't like it. Doesn't feel like home at all. I hope we will have a rebellious group of Nigth elves who will stay in Kalimdor and try to build a new city
It needs some massive white marble structures. NEs do revere nature, but that doesn't mean they should lose their proud heritage as a once great empire. It'd also help sell the idea that more than a dozen people live there. It doesn't look much like a capital of an entire race right now.
I think Telonis was the LW trainer in a house between the NE start area and Darn. Now retired- which is hilarious.
Makes me wonder if they’ll make a new starting area for night elves there. It would be so cool. Especially where Dragon isles are becoming leveling zones.

That's pretty cool, seeing other people running around... just exploring and looking at the new stuff.
Usually people are only taking a step to murder/loot someone or something and plain exploration doesn't exist in WoW anymore.

Quite a step down from Darnassus. All the wooden buildings - guess they are making it easier to burn down with no stone buildings. I want Darnassus back.

A brand new city, new *within* the story, is gonna be a step down from one that when we saw it was established for several years. If it improves, it'd be over time within the story.
I thought it was a major disappointment. This is why I haven't played retail in almost over a decade.

I think these buildings are actually from legion, in Val'sharah but i could be wrong. A lot of the buildings near the nightmare raid were destroyed or were half under a hill. I'mma check later.
when you go to Thas'talah you can find the big house with the spiral around the tree. The base house is all over Val'sharah (including two in Lorlathil) both can be found as ruined versions in front of the EN raid.
I couldnt find the sentinel buildings, the tower, big gazeebo or the statement piece moonwell though, those seems to be completely new
Most are from legion and others were added in bfa (darkshore) but the lodge, inn, towers, place where tyrande was, and the building with the sentinels. Are all brand new.
They added so much to this since the PTR, there were cameos everywhere!
Love the ramp spiral stairs and the indoor furniture. Imagine a peaceful little night elf player house with a sink, a plate of high-definition leaves on a table, and a cozy richly colored rug with cushions in a nook. Waterfall sounds from outside with a glowing moonwell.
Night Elves not being on Kalimdor feels so yucky
If you mean just their main city then yeah I agree. Night elves still live in Northern Kalimdor though. Darkshore, Ashenvale, Winterspring, Hyjal, Moonglade. Feralas still holds the Sentinels main stronghold.
The upside to the Dragon Isles location is that if military conflict were to arise Amirdrassil is basically a safe haven. Not only will it have elves defending it, but the dragon flights themselves. IT's also powered by some level of magic that not even we understand yet, being tied to the World Soul that just restored the dragon's powers. It's a powerful place.
I hope for an "old world" revamp someday where we will get to revisit places like Kalimdor and EK.
Feels like a village and not a capital and will I have to use portals to get to my home city....that sounds frustrating

More buildings, some bigger buildings, a temple of Elune and, more buildings please!

They 100% should, considering dragonflight will be default leveling zone in the war within so they could naturally progress the story into the dragon isles
It's certainly big enough, that said if its a starting questing zone, it would also be separating out only NE players from the 'expected' new player starting experience, so if they do I doubt It'll be any time soon.

@@daemonbane1 Yeah, the only way I can see it happening is if they revamp the starting player experience for all races. Which I honestly think they should, the current Horde-Alliance scenario is pretty damn dull, and not a good introduction to your class or race fantasy for a new player.
Starting in that area would make you FEEL like a night elf.

@@HelloyouTheSmiley Yes and no. They tried, and while they got back a small part of the city (renamed Tinkertown, I think?) most of the city is still inaccessible due to the leper gnomes. The starting area for gnomes takes place during the whole attempt to retake the city now, and the plot hasn't moved beyond that.

I really have a dislike for this the colors lack the silver of Teldrasil and Ashenvale, and the buildings are all just generic town assets, it's like if Stormwind were just a bigger Goldshire.
It looks great tbh, but it will never stop being funny to me that theres way too few buildings for people to live in

I think someone in another comment said the devs made a blue post explaining this wasn’t the finished product and just kind of a proof of concept to show players the basic idea of how Amirdrassil entering the physical world would work

Everything is so pretty. I love the big pink flowers, they remind me of a combination of orchids and magnolias.

It's night elf architecture for sure, and it looks nice.. but idk, it kind of misses that magic that Teldrassil had

Makes sense too, having entire island, because roots of that big tree must be covering the entire place. So you can't just get the tree.

I wish it were more dense, to make it feel like a city and less like a village. More akin to Boralus in terms of density when it's supposed to be a capital for night elves. But I get that this is just patch content... Otherwise it's really nice!

Probably is a placeholder for Malfurion, I’m guessing he’ll wake up in a story quest and Ysera will go back now that the fighting is over and let Merithra fully take over as the leader
I don't understand why this capital city is locked away in an endgame island. Like if you make a new night elf at level 1, will they spawn here? Can they quest around here at starter levels? I don't get it.

It is truly beautiful, but will Horde players ALWAYS be allowed to roam in Amirdrassil after this expansion, or will it become a mostly Alliance-only settlement? And would that not complicate things further with the Emerald Dream's creatures and the dragonflights drawn into the faction war?
And why could the night elves not simply settle at Nordrassil or Mount Hyjal? Does this mean that Kalimdor is mostly Horde territory now?

@@BeyondDaX Darnassus wasn't just sitting at the stump. It had a unique idea of a terraced city (wasn't depicted well in-game tbf, 2004 limitations, but Dazar'alor shows they 100% can do terraces now) and had a lot more interesting stuff going on in it. It's just... not that visually interesting, it feels like a village.
@@valeclaw1697 thank you for explaining that...I figured it would be obvious if they have ever traveled to the Capital. At best it feels more like the little encampment under the world tree in Hyjal. Great for a quest hub but sad for a people that once had a very unique and beautiful capital.

@@andrewrenshaw2741 good to be honest I haven't really played since early BFA...was running heroic of whatever the first raid was...then decided to stop. Shadowlands looked cool but decided not to jump back in. When teldrassil burned I was shocked that Blizzard had that in them...
the Night elfs, the protectors of kalimdor....basiclly banished to emerald dream, was expecting ashenvale or moonglade or even ferales to become the new capitol area but nop
holy shit, havent played wow in years so my mind was kinda blown when you went out of the tower and summoned you dragon, and it actually looked like it came flying to you and scooped you up onto it, and didnt just appear from a puff of smoke under you! Is that a thing just for that mount or do all flying mounts do that now when summoned?
Dragonflying mounts for dragonflight. It’s new and it’s really cool. Only works in zones that allow it for now
That's specific to the Dragonflight mounts. All of the regular flying mounts still just kind of poof underneath you.
Not only dragon riding mounts. Some ground mounts and flying mounts have special animations
@@manwe6829I think they did confirm that 10.2.5 will make it global, though, and that the next xpac will expand the mounts it can work on
Blizz was like we can't be to nice to the Night Elf's, so let's make their new city fir the horde too...ffs blizz just can't help but to fuck something up lol. It's not really a NE capital honestly.

It's really pretty! However, it reminds me too much of Val'sharah with the colour schemes. I wish they would try to mute the purples and greens to better fit Darnassus, but remain updated and new.
It makes sense because val'sharah was created by the druids to look like the emerald dream. I think the anesthetics are perfect for the night elves.

Good looking village, but does not exactly scream "capital city" to me. Needs more impressive key features. Hopefully they will also just add more buildings in general. This almost feels like a forest that just happens to have a few houses scattered around.
I imagine a lot of Crendor fans are not gonna agree with me, but I hope this city stays neutral, I hope Gilneas is nuetral and I hope they make all the cities neutral in the future. The further away from faction nonsense I get to be the better. I'll even compromise and say that you can't go into the other faction's cities if you have war mode tuned on

Compared to darnassus and teldrassil, this is the most underwhelming capital city. Waited years for my Nelfs new home after the BFA joke and this is what we get blizz? Very disappointed.

I didn't know WoW used LoD models, but it seems like the game loads nothing when you get close enough for the high-def version of the models to load.
i really dont like how the buildings look just like the ones from teldrassil etc :( they look so cartoony and impractical

So I'm confused. Is this located *in* the Dream, or like on an island off the coast of the Dragon Isles? If the first, that's... kind of dumb from a gameplay and balancing territory perspective. If the second, that still imbalances the Horde/Alliance presence across both continents since now Kalimdor is 100% Horde and Eastern Kingdoms still has the Forsaken and the Blood Elves even though they are instanced.

it's an island off the coast of the dragon isles. in the current live patch you can explore an early version of this island which appears after killing fyrakk.
@@ellasorellabrella So basically, Alliance got shafted out of a city on Kalimdor when Horde got to keep their holdings in Eastern Kingdoms.
And the Night Elves who have an ancestral homeland in Kalimdor got shafted the most with flat out genocide and being driven from their home only to be given a half-baked tiny island off the coast of the dragon isles.

I'm so happy so far however I hope they are adding some more. It's need massive temple of elune, One of the main things I love about night elves is they mixed influences, Korean, vikings, Celtic, elves, dark elves and Roman/greek. I see most of it here but the Greek/Roman side is missing .

I think they should have made Eldre'Thalas/Diremaul the new night elf capital. At least it's on their home continent in Kalimdor and although in ruins it already looks more like a capital than Bel'ameth. Bel'ameth is not very epic, in fact it looks like a larger village, very underwhelming and forgettable.

They still have Undercity. They don't need a new capital. The blight is gone from Lordaeron so everything is back to normal there.
