    I don't know what's leaking more, my transmission pan or that tail shaft seal. Thanks for showing how to replace that bushing and seal, I'll get after it here soon, hopefully.

    Nice job getting the bushing in homemade did a great job.... On the cover for the extension access to the clip mine on my 74 charger has been leaking the paper gasket just not good so I'm going with A&A transmissions billet cover with O rig seal and be done with it. It's a common leak area with 727/904.... And John Cope sells them too.

      Great advice thanks. I am planning on doing a homemade gasket with rtv for that if it gives me trouble I will most definitely check that out!. Im just praying the extension housing gasket don't leak. Lol I put it on dry I talked myself out of using rtv on it I hope I don't regret that decision!

      @@Dartfreak75 never seen rtv on any factory 727\904 case to tail housing I've taken apart and I have 17 transmissions in my stash.

      No me either they are supposed to go on dry, but as leaky as this bastard has been I considered it lol. I've replaced the pan gasket 3 times eventually just replaced
      The pan. Then the selector seal. Now this! I also believe the pump is leaking I found a small amount of atf at the front of the transmission! Ugh lol

    I’m stumped. So I’m doing the exact same job and got replacement pn 5206 and it’s correct, however the first boot is about 1/2” shorter won’t hurt anything to install it, but I prefer to have as much of my yoke shaft covered as possible so it doesn’t get dirty and crusty. I’ve heard people say they squeak and they cut them off and a lot of trans don’t even use a dust boot, but I wish I could find the one that was in it to begin with. Watching your video you have the one I had. If you know the pn I would love to know what it is.

      @dakotasclassiccars7246 I will look it up and let you know. The dust boot length doesn't matter as long as it seals and covers the bushing. All it does is keep the dirt out of the bushing. My advice is while your in there replace the bushing as well. That's were the leaks form.

      @dakotasclassiccars7246 found it! I got it from transmissionpartsonline.com the part number is 12074D that is for 904/999 73 and up the bushing is 12066.

      @@Dartfreak75 the bushing was my initial reason for having the seal out actually. The yoke had a ton of play and I suspect it was causing the vibration that was experiencing over 40mph. We will see. I’m also going to do the u joints too just in case that is contributing to it. What I want to know is when did u joints get so damn expensive?

    I have a leak coming from the gasket that goes over the snap ring with a simple replacement of the gasket fix that?

      Im sorry where are you talking about? The gasket between the case and the tail housing?

      @@Dartfreak75 yeah. It sits right above the crossmember

    • @Dartfreak75
      @Dartfreak75  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You sure it's not the pan blowing back on the cross member? The tailshaft is fairly easy to take off and replace the gasket. In the first video on this topic I pulled the cross member to gain access to the top two bolts
