I dont believe in sitting around. People should go out and do what feels right for them, whether that's looking for someone new AFTER they have processed and healed from a break-up, or if its doing any necessary introspection on their own issues and contribution to a break-up, and then trying again wth their ex. 2-3 months is nowhere near long enough to get over a long term/serious relatonship, even if you were the one who called it. That's why there are so many people out there with emotional baggage that they just drag from one relationship to the next and then wonder why it never works out. But other people giving bad advice based on what THEY would do is the worst. Most of those people have their own issues or agendas and their view is generally biased and can cause actual emotional damage to the 2 people concerned and make the situation much worse.

For everyone that got dumped, just like me. I know it hurts, it hurts like hell. I have 5 days of no contact. But you know what, I don't think that she will come back. But I think to myself, I deserve soo much more and soo do you, they think they will find someone better, or someone like you, but they will never find someone like you because you are special in many ways. There is someone out there who will love you and respect you for who you really are, not for who your ex wanted you to be. Just focus on yourself and improve. my ex of 4 years texted me on day 96 and day 106. She was going through a hard time in 2020 and she decided to leave the relationship. I went in no contact after I listened to the videos. A lot of times, depending on whether or not your relationship was really bad in the end, it can make new relationships seem “that much better” when, in actuality, they are just normal in comparison. If an ex tells you all about a new relationship, they’re likely expecting a triggered response. Don’t give it to them. Tell them you’re happy for them and maybe throw in some hints that you’ve been working on self-improvement, but keep it short and sweet. It’ll peak her curiosity if there’s any left and interfere with her ability to focus on her new relationship if there are any residual feelings there or insecurities about your breakup. -a female who’s been on both sides more than enough times to count. Just say your glad she’s doing well and that you are fine. As far as being her friend goes, don’t agree to it if you know you want more. It might feel good to relieve that thirst to see them again, but agreeing to friendship and trying to push for more will ultimately get you in a worse spot. You could keep it ambiguous and just say that you’d like to catch up and just be yourself and don’t bring up the break up. Just have good conversation. Them extending the offer of friendship could be their first step towards you and they are likely in the curious stage of the break up. Look up coach Lee the ex back coach on TH-cam if you want more clarification of the curiosity step. Do not take my advice blindly. Do what you feel is right and if you want things to work then I suggest you trust the professionals, I’m just speaking from my life experience.

I have kept contact with her son because he chose to call me dad. She messaged me in November asking if her son was still on my insurance which I had them removed in July. What about when you were married for a decade and have young kids, and they cheated and left you over and over and they have been with other men, then back with you, overlapping the new guys with you...then they divorce you...then they say they miss you and they broke up with the other guy. But they have broken up with that other guy on and off 5 times and you have been there for them , wanting them the whole time. And now you realize they just lie to you and hurt you and betray you as a general course of their being. So now, you purposely stopped communicating with them and even stopped seeing your young kids because being tied to her with kids is what perpetuates the cycle. And every time you try to just focus on the kids, she lures you in or you want back in and she plays with your heart and cheats again and dumps you at her whim. How about going through that for 10 years and now you can't see your kids because it means having communication with her every week for the next 15 years and her smashing you around like a crash test dummy for the rest of your life?
And to add to that, you've been to 5 marriage counselors when married, and 6 personal counselors for trauma and being suicidal because of the hurt of this situation. So now you don't see your young kids or talk to your ex because you fear for your life and mental health because you were gaslighted and traumatized and abused for a decade and made to believe it was your fault. And your ex still says they love you even while they are having sex with another man and going on vacation to Disney with you and your kids and that flip flopping keeps happening for years. It drove you crazy until you cracked. So no you don't see your family at all and have retreated to being alone and being a hermit and being afraid of any relationship at all.
My question is if there’s a limit to how many times the cycle can happen? At this point, the NC and reconnecting has happened at least thrice already. With intervals of being together and the NC after the fight progressively getting longer as time goes by with the repeated cycles spanning close to a decade already despite of what happens during NC.

I dont believe in sitting around. People should go out and do what feels right for them, whether that's looking for someone new AFTER they have processed and healed from a break-up, or if its doing any necessary introspection on their own issues and contribution to a break-up, and then trying again wth their ex.
2-3 months is nowhere near long enough to get over a long term/serious relatonship, even if you were the one who called it.
That's why there are so many people out there with emotional baggage that they just drag from one relationship to the next and then wonder why it never works out.
But other people giving bad advice based on what THEY would do is the worst.
Most of those people have their own issues or agendas and their view is generally biased and can cause actual emotional damage to the 2 people concerned and make the situation much worse.
That's not true. My ex had every reason to dump me. I messed up and said some terrible things. And it really hurt them. I deserved to be dumped.

My ex wife and I got divorced in June of 2022 after 7 years of marriage. I told her after the finalizations that she would never hear from me again. I have kept contact with her son because he chose to call me dad. She messaged me in November asking if her son was still on my insurance which I had them removed in July. She called I didn’t answer she even had her mother message me. I replied to her mother’s message advising I took them off. She then messaged me on Christmas after this and then I set a day I could stop by her parents house to drop off a gift for her son. Well she was at her parents house on the day I went there and tried to make small talk I was taken aback and only gave one word responses. I can’t help but feel she planned to be there maybe I am wrong but just felt that way.

What about when we were married, divorced and had a custody fight. After a couple of years we became friends again, and started to enjoy being around each other. She married after the divorce and had kids, but has been separated now for 7 years (not divorced), and the last 3+ months we spent a lot of time together, even spent the night together (no intimacy). What about when you were married for a decade and have young kids, and they cheated and left you over and over and they have been with other men, then back with you, overlapping the new guys with you...then they divorce you...then they say they miss you and they broke up with the other guy. But they have broken up with that other guy on and off 5 times and you have been there for them , wanting them the whole time. And now you realize they just lie to you and hurt you and betray you as a general course of their being. So now, you purposely stopped communicating with them and even stopped seeing your young kids because being tied to her with kids is what perpetuates the cycle. And every time you try to just focus on the kids, she lures you in or you want back in and she plays with your heart and cheats again and dumps you at her whim. How about going through that for 10 years and now you can't see your kids because it means having communication with her every week for the next 15 years and her smashing you around like a crash test dummy for the rest of your life?
And to add to that, you've been to 5 marriage counselors when married, and 6 personal counselors for trauma and being suicidal because of the hurt of this situation. So now you don't see your young kids or talk to your ex because you fear for your life and mental health because you were gaslighted and traumatized and abused for a decade and made to believe it was your fault. And your ex still says they love you even while they are having sex with another man and going on vacation to Disney with you and your kids and that flip flopping keeps happening for years. It drove you crazy until you cracked. So no you don't see your family at all and have retreated to being alone and being a hermit and being afraid of any relationship at all.
My question is if there’s a limit to how many times the cycle can happen? At this point, the NC and reconnecting has happened at least thrice already. With intervals of being together and the NC after the fight progressively getting longer as time goes by with the repeated cycles spanning close to a decade already despite of what happens during NC.
So I know this is relationships, but why do guy/girl friends come back after leaving a friendship?
