One thing I'd like to add, Rivals doesn't seem as addictive as OW (at least the old OW, I spent ungodly hours grinding comp with my mates). OW2 doesn't seem as addictive but that might be me just growing up and now having to work.
Isn't it made by the same studio that made Diablo Immortal? As in you can garuntee it will be overmonetized to hell and back, to the detriment of the game as a whole
A Marvel-themed Overwatch doesn't sound like a bad idea, actually. Even if it's not a game that will really compete with Blizzard, it's good to have *any* competition, no matter how basic it is. If the monetization isn't terrible and they maintain this level of quality, it sounds like a fun option to play with friends every now and then.
Huh? This game will absolutely compete with Blizzard, Overwatch has dropped the ball way too many times and there is not nearly enough progression compared to how long the game has been out. This will be the Overwatch killer for sure

Because it’s been steadily declining with diminishing returns each season they had spikes when they did the “go get mystics you missed” and when they do events like transformers or this power ranger season, that’s about it. Overwatch 2 is being killed by blizzard just like overwatch 1 was and a game like this could easily be the nail in the coffin because while there are similarities here and there, there’s a lot of cool original ideas with marvel rivals and overwatch will have to stop doing 50 dollar event skins and shit if marvel rivals makes any good decision at all with monetization
I've enjoyed my time with it. I also think the characters themselves are some of the best iterations of them from a visual standpoint. They really nailed the look and designs

I’m so relieved they kept the organic look, like Storm for example. They could have easily made her butch with baggy nun looking clothing, but they actually kept the original design of her which I appreciate so much
This game is going to be a massive hit. The roster is supposed to be 39 at launch. The character art is fantastic. It has a good gameplay loop. And it is free to play. Cynics did not think the First Descendant would be a success but after a few weeks, it is steady chugging away. This will be the same.

What I liked was the presentation, art style, character designs, all good Unlike concord, rivals' roster wasn't beaten by the ugly stick. Also there's the cheesy dialogue with good delivery, but what I find interesting was the details. They go the extra mile showing the player "why" I have to push this payload with short animations on the character selection screen and the victory or defeat screens and the NPC's actually talk to you about what you're doing and talking as if what you do has stakes. I dig that. I haven't played any other multiplayer game that adds that much context to the game modes.

Magneto can actually do the most damage in the game with his chaos sword, from the team up with scarlet witch. its broken and will most likely be changed. i think you also forgot to say that the battle pass is free and all the live service gimmicks right now are also free. obviously it will cost money when the game launches so i understand why you didnt mention it.

As someone that has played a ton of Overwatch over the years, I cannot recommend this game enough. The beta has been so fun and it’s a really refreshing take on the genre. You can say some characters are rip offs of characters from Overwatch mechanically, but you mentioned the support cast who are all quite unique actually. Comparing the supports in this game to Overwatch, they play very differently. I think this game has enough of an identity to separate itself from Overwatch if you’re familiar with the intricacies of both games. It’s important to have multiple perspectives cause there’s gonna be people who might play more similarly to you, not care for hero shooters as much, but I gotta say, you’re missing out with the melee characters. Spider-Man is hard to pick up, sure, but he’s not really clunky. He’s very fluid if you can play him. And Magneto as well, he can do really strong bursts of damage, especially with Scarlet Witch, so I wouldn’t say he really plays like a support. For those that enjoy hero shooters, I think this is definitely worth your time. For those that dont, I think it’s still worth trying. The roster is pretty diverse with a few same-ish characters, the gameplay is chaotic and fun, it’s not a super serious game, I think it has a lot of potential! And that’s my before you buy… or uh, try to get a key with their shitty twitch drop system 😂
the problem, i think, is that if the characters were more lore-accurate, basically the entire roster would be DPS. which would be an interesting spin on things, now that i think about it, but they are following a formula here
This is going to come off as a "hater comment" but i will just say this is how i saw this video: This feels alot like a DAY 1 review instead of playing multiple days, some of the stuff said here can be debunked by just playing more, per example magneto being a guy that stands back and shields/supports and doesnt really do dmg is just untrue, when positioned right he can be very agressive, specially when you have scarlett witch co-op ability. Another is the iron man can "just fly and attack from above with no downsides", if you played long enough, specially rank you will see spider-man just straight out destoys iron man in a one-shot, making the game rely on changing characters mid-game (like overwatch) to counter strategies or if is just a game that is not going well, keeping on the iron man subject, as the days went on (3 days of open rank if im not mistaken), you start seeing iron man players getting better position to try and counter spider-man ez one shot on him, started seeing iron man players finding a way to stay somewhat off the map and attack from tight angles making it really hard to hit him. The meta and plays/playstyle keep evolving and this already shows that the game can have much growth in competitive play and becomes more interesting as time goes on. For the point the characters that feel "underwhelming", from my experience, as soon as i get the hang of the character by playing them or just straight out seeing an enemy playing him better than you and then mimic their plays you start seeing such enjoyment in every single one of them, my example being the supps (specially warlock), didn't know exactly how to optimize them except loki and racoon, after seeing others play and practice i discovered neat angles to heal and use abilities with them while keeping on some dmg, making all characters just super enjoyable to play and meta viable(just a useless information i main tank).

@@shardatc3560 yes, it ends today i believe tho. they should release the game this year, its pretty much complete with some issues of performance and, this is my opinion, they should add role qeue on comp where you share the rank instead of being like overwatch where each role ahs a rank, i just think with role qeue it would make the game more enjoyable and with less trolls.
I get the complaint about how your favorite character may restrict you to a playstyle you don't like. Maybe take a page from Capcom fighting games and introduce ALT-MODEs for the roster?
Mortal Kombat 11 did the same thing, every character had multiple abilities and you were able to swap out abilities that fit more of your playstyle. I loved that concept and they could easily implement it here, for example: I main storm, but 2 of her 3 abilities are buffing the team or herself…. Umm I’d rather have another attack lol
Yeah I really don’t get the complaints that it looks like a “mobile game”, it’s clearly meant to look like comic book art style while being 3D, much like Arcane as you mentioned. Looks great. But gamers today are so brainrotted with “muh grafix” that anything without hyper-realistic visuals is just “mobile game trash”, literally low IQ.
Nobody wants to give this game a chance but its so damn fun. I know how it looks but when you guys get to try it during the beta I think lots will be positive and the Marvel IP will help sustain a lot. It DOES carry to an extent but the bones here all still good beyond it!
Apparently, there's a lot of people in this very comment section who either love it or can't wait to play it. I don't know how representative they are of game players as a whole, but this could actually do really well. That is, if they don't screw up the monetization.
@drewtheunspoken3988 yeah, I'm an OG Overwarch player that quit with the OW2 debacle. This game is great and is doing more than 50 times Concorde's open beta numbers. The monetization is the big question, but in the beta you can earn cosmetics pretty easily through normal gameplay and challenges.

But lets just hope that that is going to be the case too in the full game and that theyre not just making it easy to see how the battle pass works because Halo Infinite did that during their betas. I can see the end result being a few skins easy to obtain by doing challenges but of course then locking the absolute nutty and most requested skins behind a big 10-20 dollar paywall. It would suck but i wouldnt be too mad for a f2p game of this amount of polish
@@drewtheunspoken3988 As someone who played Closed Alpha, Closed Beta and kept my eyes on Rivals before their Closed Alpha was put out, I think the ones not giving it a chance or trashing hard on it is a very loud minority. There is a clear majority that is either addicted to it or enjoys it.
Wanna know why Rivals is gonna succeed? They made attractive, interesting characters. Men and women in the game look badass. You want to play as them, gives you that dopamine hit. How your character "looks" is extremely important. If you are gonna be a robot, you want a badass looking robot, if you are a female, you want a female that looks like Storm so on and so forth. No one wants to play a game as a frumpy gen alpha looking accountant.

It's great! They're sending out feedback surveys to people that are playing so make sure to fill those in and tell them not to be like Blizzard with the monetisation! Also highlight other issues you find. That's the whole point of this, it's up to us to speak up now and shape this into an amazing game (or forever hold our piece).
I love the support characters. They feel pretty balanced and you can be a damage support with some of them like Rocket while still shooting out heals to your team and yourself. Wish the tanks were more fun to play though.

Watch Dunkey's video on this game. It's literally Overwatch. They directly copied the play style and the characters are direct copies of specific Overwatch characters (there's a Tracer, a Genji, etc.)

magneto is actually one of my faves so far. he's great at bull dogging and pushing the enemy back if his team is being aggressive with him and not letting the enemy breathe. especially if scarlet witch teams up with him. if he were any stronger id think he was a bit broken but as he is now hes strong yet counter-able. looking forward to the full release.
I apreaciate the review with gameplay. As a personal note, I don't care if the game is going to attract the so called "hardcore players", I'm thirsty for a fast paced hero shoter for just having some fast fun inbetween "the big games" and this is gonna be perfect. I'm already tired of Overwatch 2 and nothing has filled the hole that Gundam Evolution left in my gaming life :_
I'm kind of on the opposite side of the fence. I'm fatigued by live service hero shooter games and games with battle passes and cosmetics. Ya'll have fun, I went back to singeplayer titles
I never left, multiplayer is a waste of my limited time, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the games I don't play hence me even watching this video
It’s also catching Overwatch on a particularly vulnerable moment. People are getting bored of the tedious endless metas and are disillusioned with the Overwatch 2 transition and the 5v5 setup. Blizzard usually had the upper hand in terms of character design and the gameplay was generally pretty innovative. I don’t think they have the upper hand here with Marvel’s character design though, and there’s an endless library of characters they can pull from. This also seems to be more innovative, if they can also get the gameplay working more smoothly it could definitely mean the end of Overwatch. They have wasted all of the goodwill they have built up over the years on some unbelievably bad business decisions. I don’t think the new Overwatch team have the experience or the resources to turn this around so it’s very much dependent on whether or not the Rivals team will make the mistakes. The western gaming industry is in trouble.
If this is F2P with garbage limited time battle passes and a shop with outrageously overpriced content, I won't be installing. I've learned my lesson...

Thanks a sweet card game called Marvel Champions I am currently more (back) into Marvel than ever before. I even started reading comics. Perfect timing for the closed Beta and I really enjoyed it from start. My favorite Hero Black Panther is also in there but feels a bit too situational/niche. Magneto feels straight up overpowered with the Scarlet Witch teamup ability. The game needs work on UI and balancing ofc. But it is very enjoyable most of the time already. Especially if you randomly meet a yt content creator you like on day 1 and keep playing together with him for the next week basically every day 😂.
Always boggles my mind that the title of the game isn't like *Marvels: Civil War* or *Marvels: Secret Wars.* Like, none of the developers actually watch comics. Also, none of these game modes are about them being heroes, they are just pure Overwatch game modes.
Probably because Civil War and Secret Wars are beloved comic book stories, so when people play this game and get something completely unrelated, they would be at the very least confused and probably disappointed. Naming a game after something for no reason other than to use the name is just stupid. Marvel Rivals is a fine name.

You say that but if this game were actually called something like Civil War, it would be crushed by comic book fans for how "inaccurate" it is. And you can kinda say the same thing about Overwatch. For all their lore-related cinematics and animated shorts, the actual game just boils down to these simple game modes. It's a game about Marvel characters like your childhood dreams or like making two action figures fight each other. It's not a game adapting a specific story-line, and that's fine.
I've been playing the Closed Beta too. I do agree with what you said about Magneto and Adam Warlock. I have been having the most fun with Iron Man!! He feels so great and his abilities are pretty awesome. Spiderman is pretty cool too as well as Black Panther but definitely some tweaks still needed here and there. Overall I am very impressed and anxious to see it in full effect.
I love it, I played mostly Magneto, Peni Parker, Storm, Namor, Mantis, Jeff and Rocket. Some of the maps had major latency issues which got tiring after arrival, but now that I've gone a day without playing, I wish I could hop in for a few matches again. I think it has massive potential, they've got a good design philosophy and if they get the monetisation and new content balance right, it should be a good game with some longevity

I mean, it looks about as fun or nearly as fun as OG Overwatch (because they blatantly have copied some things), but whatevs. If you don't like hero shooters, this is definitely not for you, but plenty of people still like hero shooters.

I agree with you. I scored a beta code about 3 days before the CBT’s ending, and it was fun but I definitely felt like I did everything by the second day lol. It’s a free game though, so i’ll definitely play it.

Idky but when Jake mentioned tagging my head went straight to why don't more games, especially survival type games, have a way of tagging walls to mark ur path or for places uve already searched.
Marvel Midnight Suns was amazing. I got the ultimate version on sale last month and I burned through it 2 1/2 times, plus a mod overhaul. I can't wait for this because my fiancée, and I got real bored with Overwatch years ago, and we're both Marvel freaks. Hopefully they see these kinds of vids and fine tune it to make it better on the weaker points.
I really enjoyed the game and one thing I’d like to mention as someone who played overwatch when it was on beta this game did exactly what Jake mentioned it scratched that itch I played Winston and jumping around as Hulk was fun. I hope they just market it similar to OG overwatch and make the whole roster free.
I've been really enjoying it. I am ok with some characters having higher skill floors and ceilings than others. My one worry is how will they combat power creep, OW didn't manage it well one bit and because of balancing and new heroes it killed the game.
Honestly speaking I have seen most tanks do more damage than actual DPS characters. I tend to play Scarlet Witch cause she's a simple Moira-style DPS, and I'm now really leaning into Magik. But regarding the issue with making everyone feel how they do in the comics is likely going to be extremely hard, since it will be hard to translate everything they can do into 4 - 8 skills. Will definitely need to see more options though to get a true feel, but so far I am personally loving it.
They should make it so there are a select number of roles per team and each character has 3 different sets of powers to use depending on what role you choose. So all the characters have a tank/support/dps role.
Ive loved this game so far,my only complaint would be(and ive only heard of this happening to me so far)is that after my first three games i had to delete and redownload it because it said my data was corruppted
They added Jeff the landshark! Game of the year! To be a bit more serious, it was my first heroshooter. I really liked it! For some heroes there is definetly a learning curve but I enjoyed most of them.
Still not getting the Overwatch comparisons outside of team ups and certain UI stuff. Overwatch had a certain level charm to it that made it famous. Marvel Rivals reminds me more of Smite
Oddly enough, Magneto is the only character I've made a comment about on their survey during the closed beta to make him feel more in character even as a tank. Also suggested adding Daredevil cause hes my boy.
Great watch and coverage as always 👊🏿. I'm not a multiplayer or live service game person so this game is immediately a hard pass for me but from my friends who play these types of games they seem to be liking it. They were a lot more positive on it than Concord. But yeah for me the hero shooter/battle royale/live service shooter genre is not up my alley coz I'm a sucker for aingle player story games instead.
All I see with these live-service hero shooters is wasted potential that could have been a fantastic baseline for a singleplayer or even coop campaign. And, before anyone brings it up, no, not like Marvel's Avengers. More like a spiritual successor to Ultimate Alliance. And personally, preferably... with a more serious tone. As someone who loved the older comic books I've read, I always roll my eyes whenever people assume that comic book stuff always has to have that MCU brand of humor.
A game like this seems more tuned toward a competitive focus (just as Overwatch did) and I think for the full review, its important to look at this. Where characters are meant to be played for their designated roles and synchronization.
As someone who played a lot of Overwatch, Listening to the game audio without the visuals, I would think it is Overwatch. The sound of the guns and abilities, the call outs, gameplay aside it truly sounds like Overwatch as well.
I like the cartoon esthetic, like 3rd person games, and it's less shooty than a hero shooter so it more SuperHero than Super Soldiers. Lots to expand on, story modes with theses character could be fun.

My main issue with it is map rotation, and some ults just feeling way too team fight winning.
Besides that its very fun
the designs need more attraction, the hero designs are so coool!

There were 39 characters datamined but I don’t think they said 39 would be available at launch..would be nice if that were true though

You can say some characters are rip offs of characters from Overwatch mechanically, but you mentioned the support cast who are all quite unique actually. Comparing the supports in this game to Overwatch, they play very differently. I think this game has enough of an identity to separate itself from Overwatch if you’re familiar with the intricacies of both games.
It’s important to have multiple perspectives cause there’s gonna be people who might play more similarly to you, not care for hero shooters as much, but I gotta say, you’re missing out with the melee characters. Spider-Man is hard to pick up, sure, but he’s not really clunky. He’s very fluid if you can play him. And Magneto as well, he can do really strong bursts of damage, especially with Scarlet Witch, so I wouldn’t say he really plays like a support.
For those that enjoy hero shooters, I think this is definitely worth your time. For those that dont, I think it’s still worth trying. The roster is pretty diverse with a few same-ish characters, the gameplay is chaotic and fun, it’s not a super serious game, I think it has a lot of potential!
And that’s my before you buy… or uh, try to get a key with their shitty twitch drop system 😂

the problem, i think, is that if the characters were more lore-accurate, basically the entire roster would be DPS. which would be an interesting spin on things, now that i think about it, but they are following a formula here

This feels alot like a DAY 1 review instead of playing multiple days, some of the stuff said here can be debunked by just playing more, per example magneto being a guy that stands back and shields/supports and doesnt really do dmg is just untrue, when positioned right he can be very agressive, specially when you have scarlett witch co-op ability. Another is the iron man can "just fly and attack from above with no downsides", if you played long enough, specially rank you will see spider-man just straight out destoys iron man in a one-shot, making the game rely on changing characters mid-game (like overwatch) to counter strategies or if is just a game that is not going well, keeping on the iron man subject, as the days went on (3 days of open rank if im not mistaken), you start seeing iron man players getting better position to try and counter spider-man ez one shot on him, started seeing iron man players finding a way to stay somewhat off the map and attack from tight angles making it really hard to hit him. The meta and plays/playstyle keep evolving and this already shows that the game can have much growth in competitive play and becomes more interesting as time goes on. For the point the characters that feel "underwhelming", from my experience, as soon as i get the hang of the character by playing them or just straight out seeing an enemy playing him better than you and then mimic their plays you start seeing such enjoyment in every single one of them, my example being the supps (specially warlock), didn't know exactly how to optimize them except loki and racoon, after seeing others play and practice i discovered neat angles to heal and use abilities with them while keeping on some dmg, making all characters just super enjoyable to play and meta viable(just a useless information i main tank).

they should release the game this year, its pretty much complete with some issues of performance and, this is my opinion, they should add role qeue on comp where you share the rank instead of being like overwatch where each role ahs a rank, i just think with role qeue it would make the game more enjoyable and with less trolls.

I get the complaint about how your favorite character may restrict you to a playstyle you don't like. Maybe take a page from Capcom fighting games and introduce ALT-MODEs for the roster?
Mortal Kombat 11 did the same thing, every character had multiple abilities and you were able to swap out abilities that fit more of your playstyle. I loved that concept and they could easily implement it here, for example: I main storm, but 2 of her 3 abilities are buffing the team or herself…. Umm I’d rather have another attack lol
or something like Paladins, with customizable loadouts so you can play healers as damage if you want.

I hear people say how there are so many hero shooters, but the only ones I can think of (on console at least) is overwatch 2 and paladins

Yeah I really don’t get the complaints that it looks like a “mobile game”, it’s clearly meant to look like comic book art style while being 3D, much like Arcane as you mentioned. Looks great. But gamers today are so brainrotted with “muh grafix” that anything without hyper-realistic visuals is just “mobile game trash”, literally low IQ.
The teamup limitation is my only issue with this game. Magneto is a perfect example, pair him with scarlet and he becomes thanos.
Nobody wants to give this game a chance but its so damn fun. I know how it looks but when you guys get to try it during the beta I think lots will be positive and the Marvel IP will help sustain a lot.

Apparently, there's a lot of people in this very comment section who either love it or can't wait to play it. I don't know how representative they are of game players as a whole, but this could actually do really well. That is, if they don't screw up the monetization.
@drewtheunspoken3988 yeah, I'm an OG Overwarch player that quit with the OW2 debacle. This game is great and is doing more than 50 times Concorde's open beta numbers. The monetization is the big question, but in the beta you can earn cosmetics pretty easily through normal gameplay and challenges.

But lets just hope that that is going to be the case too in the full game and that theyre not just making it easy to see how the battle pass works because Halo Infinite did that during their betas. I can see the end result being a few skins easy to obtain by doing challenges but of course then locking the absolute nutty and most requested skins behind a big 10-20 dollar paywall. It would suck but i wouldnt be too mad for a f2p game of this amount of polish
@@drewtheunspoken3988 As someone who played Closed Alpha, Closed Beta and kept my eyes on Rivals before their Closed Alpha was put out, I think the ones not giving it a chance or trashing hard on it is a very loud minority. There is a clear majority that is either addicted to it or enjoys it.
I love the game so far but I just want some more maps ! I love the little tidbits of lore and interactions from the spawn rooms.

Wanna know why Rivals is gonna succeed? They made attractive, interesting characters. Men and women in the game look badass. You want to play as them, gives you that dopamine hit. How your character "looks" is extremely important. If you are gonna be a robot, you want a badass looking robot, if you are a female, you want a female that looks like Storm so on and so forth. No one wants to play a game as a frumpy gen alpha looking accountant.

It's great! They're sending out feedback surveys to people that are playing so make sure to fill those in and tell them not to be like Blizzard with the monetisation! Also highlight other issues you find. That's the whole point of this, it's up to us to speak up now and shape this into an amazing game (or forever hold our piece).
I love the support characters. They feel pretty balanced and you can be a damage support with some of them like Rocket while still shooting out heals to your team and yourself. Wish the tanks were more fun to play though.
They could do some kind of multyverse Feature, where you have a Support, tank and dps version of every hero

Watch Dunkey's video on this game. It's literally Overwatch. They directly copied the play style and the characters are direct copies of specific Overwatch characters (there's a Tracer, a Genji, etc.)

magneto is actually one of my faves so far. he's great at bull dogging and pushing the enemy back if his team is being aggressive with him and not letting the enemy breathe. especially if scarlet witch teams up with him. if he were any stronger id think he was a bit broken but as he is now hes strong yet counter-able. looking forward to the full release.
I just wish the Hulk felt like the Hulk. His kit does not fit his character at all, except for his clap ability.

As a personal note, I don't care if the game is going to attract the so called "hardcore players", I'm thirsty for a fast paced hero shoter for just having some fast fun inbetween "the big games" and this is gonna be perfect. Well it's doing better than Concord, a game whose OPEN BETA numbers kept dropping... on the weekend.
It’s also catching Overwatch on a particularly vulnerable moment. People are getting bored of the tedious endless metas and are disillusioned with the Overwatch 2 transition and the 5v5 setup. Blizzard usually had the upper hand in terms of character design and the gameplay was generally pretty innovative. I don’t think they have the upper hand here with Marvel’s character design though, and there’s an endless library of characters they can pull from. This also seems to be more innovative, if they can also get the gameplay working more smoothly it could definitely mean the end of Overwatch. They have wasted all of the goodwill they have built up over the years on some unbelievably bad business decisions. I don’t think the new Overwatch team have the experience or the resources to turn this around so it’s very much dependent on whether or not the Rivals team will make the mistakes. The western gaming industry is in trouble.

Perfect timing for the closed Beta and I really enjoyed it from start. My favorite Hero Black Panther is also in there but feels a bit too situational/niche.
Magneto feels straight up overpowered with the Scarlet Witch teamup ability.
The game needs work on UI and balancing ofc.
But it is very enjoyable most of the time already.
Especially if you randomly meet a yt content creator you like on day 1 and keep playing together with him for the next week basically every day 😂.

Like, none of the developers actually watch comics. Also, none of these game modes are about them being heroes, they are just pure Overwatch game modes.
Probably because Civil War and Secret Wars are beloved comic book stories, so when people play this game and get something completely unrelated, they would be at the very least confused and probably disappointed.

You say that but if this game were actually called something like Civil War, it would be crushed by comic book fans for how "inaccurate" it is. And you can kinda say the same thing about Overwatch. For all their lore-related cinematics and animated shorts, the actual game just boils down to these simple game modes.
It's a game about Marvel characters like your childhood dreams or like making two action figures fight each other. It's not a game adapting a specific story-line, and that's fine.
I've been playing the Closed Beta too. I do agree with what you said about Magneto and Adam Warlock. I have been having the most fun with Iron Man!! He feels so great and his abilities are pretty awesome. Spiderman is pretty cool too as well as Black Panther but definitely some tweaks still needed here and there. Overall I am very impressed and anxious to see it in full effect.

I love it, I played mostly Magneto, Peni Parker, Storm, Namor, Mantis, Jeff and Rocket.
Some of the maps had major latency issues which got tiring after arrival, but now that I've gone a day without playing, I wish I could hop in for a few matches again. I think it has massive potential, they've got a good design philosophy and if they get the monetisation and new content balance right, it should be a good game with some longevity

I agree with you. I scored a beta code about 3 days before the CBT’s ending, and it was fun but I definitely felt like I did everything by the second day lol. It’s a free game though, so i’ll definitely play it.

Idky but when Jake mentioned tagging my head went straight to why don't more games, especially survival type games, have a way of tagging walls to mark ur path or for places uve already searched.
Marvel Midnight Suns was amazing. I got the ultimate version on sale last month and I burned through it 2 1/2 times, plus a mod overhaul. I can't wait for this because my fiancée, and I got real bored with Overwatch years ago, and we're both Marvel freaks. Hopefully they see these kinds of vids and fine tune it to make it better on the weaker points.
I really enjoyed the game and one thing I’d like to mention as someone who played overwatch when it was on beta this game did exactly what Jake mentioned it scratched that itch I played Winston and jumping around as Hulk was fun. I hope they just market it similar to OG overwatch and make the whole roster free.
I've been really enjoying it. I am ok with some characters having higher skill floors and ceilings than others. My one worry is how will they combat power creep, OW didn't manage it well one bit and because of balancing and new heroes it killed the game.

Honestly speaking I have seen most tanks do more damage than actual DPS characters. I tend to play Scarlet Witch cause she's a simple Moira-style DPS, and I'm now really leaning into Magik. But regarding the issue with making everyone feel how they do in the comics is likely going to be extremely hard, since it will be hard to translate everything they can do into 4 - 8 skills. Will definitely need to see more options though to get a true feel, but so far I am personally loving it.
They should make it so there are a select number of roles per team and each character has 3 different sets of powers to use depending on what role you choose. So all the characters have a tank/support/dps role.
Ive loved this game so far,my only complaint would be(and ive only heard of this happening to me so far)is that after my first three games i had to delete and redownload it because it said my data was corruppted
Played CAT and im currently in the CBT. I like it a LOT because its a lot more fast paced than other hero shooters are. Reminds me of OG OW days
I think a cool way to make this more versatile would be to create alternate support/DPS builds so players could decide how their Magneto plays.

To be a bit more serious, it was my first heroshooter. I really liked it! For some heroes there is definetly a learning curve but I enjoyed most of them.
Still not getting the Overwatch comparisons outside of team ups and certain UI stuff. Overwatch had a certain level charm to it that made it famous. Marvel Rivals reminds me more of Smite
Oddly enough, Magneto is the only character I've made a comment about on their survey during the closed beta to make him feel more in character even as a tank. Also suggested adding Daredevil cause hes my boy.
Great watch and coverage as always 👊🏿. I'm not a multiplayer or live service game person so this game is immediately a hard pass for me but from my friends who play these types of games they seem to be liking it. They were a lot more positive on it than Concord.
But yeah for me the hero shooter/battle royale/live service shooter genre is not up my alley coz I'm a sucker for aingle player story games instead.

All I see with these live-service hero shooters is wasted potential that could have been a fantastic baseline for a singleplayer or even coop campaign. And, before anyone brings it up, no, not like Marvel's Avengers. More like a spiritual successor to Ultimate Alliance. And personally, preferably... with a more serious tone. As someone who loved the older comic books I've read, I always roll my eyes whenever people assume that comic book stuff always has to have that MCU brand of humor.
A game like this seems more tuned toward a competitive focus (just as Overwatch did) and I think for the full review, its important to look at this. Where characters are meant to be played for their designated roles and synchronization.

Listening to the game audio without the visuals, I would think it is Overwatch.
The sound of the guns and abilities, the call outs, gameplay aside it truly sounds like Overwatch as well.

I like the cartoon esthetic, like 3rd person games, and it's less shooty than a hero shooter so it more SuperHero than Super Soldiers.
Lots to expand on, story modes with theses character could be fun.
