I think what you mean is Shakatak had a Bob James feel to them. Nice band but when they started around 1980 they were influenced by established US Jazz/Fusion artists such as Bob and turned it into their brand of pop.
@conde6096 I was making a similar comparison reference, not a timeline reference. I owned Bob James LPs before I discovered Shakatak in 1982 with their Nightbirds album. I was into Grover Washington Jr. and Bob James in the 70's under the Creed Taylor label. Don't try to school me, man.
This song was written for Heatwave by the great songwriter Rod Temperton, but for reasons I forgot he gave this song to Bob James who put his fingerprints all over it!
“Gotta Get on Down
Gotta Get on Down” 🕺🕺🕺
This whole LP is timeless.
The legend that is Rod Temperton wrote this tune 😊
Sign Of The Times. Album of my youth.
Love BJ to the moon and back! ❤❤❤ Steamin' Feelin' and. Maputo were my favourites... Memories of my youthful years as undergraduate came alive!
Memories of CD 101.9 New York!
My favorite song
Bob James was born to groove. This tune has a Shakatak feel to it.
No doubt.
