This track brings back some good memories. I was about 13yrs old when this came out. My stepfather would take us on fishing trips for the weekend. The lake was 3hrs away so it was a long ride, and this track was my favorite. The whole album was great, but this one stood out to me. I am a music producer and engineer because of this song! Shout out to Bob James!!!!!!
I grew up with the same memories! Road trips, fishing trips all around California. My Dad loves the Bay Area and the ocean so many great Nostalgic memories. This one is my favorite! The flute, Guitar, of course piano. But then the soft Bongos and horns. This is a master of Music and instruments
i gotta add mine. i guess our Dads had good taste in music..i was 4 when this came out. my Dad played this all the time. the album cover opens up like a book. he loved this album and i grew to love it. he loved Bob James' music. Dad passed away some years ago, but i have all of his albums. i put the vinyl on and sit back and think of old times.
Le trio qu'il y a entre la batterie, la flute et la guitare à partir de la 4ième minute 30ième seconde minute est é-pous-tou-flant .... l'énervement progressif du batteur avant la 6ième minute me donne la chair de poule The trio that there is between the drums, the flute and the guitar from the 4th minute 30th second minute is breathtaking .... the progressive nervousness of the drummer before the 6th minute gives me goosebumps
Bob James - Keyboards, Composer, Arranger, Conductor, Producer Hiram Bullock - Electric Guitar Solo, Vocal Solo Ron Carter - Acoustic Bass, Piccolo Bass Solo Hubert Laws - Flute Solo Earl Klugh - Acoustic Guitar Eric Gale - Electric Guitar Steve Gadd - Drums Mongo Santamaria - Percussion
Incredible musicianship and an amazing amalgamation of prominent players who have contributed enormously to the advancement of American music in general. I saw Hiram Bullock perform on a few occasions at Chicago Blues in NYC and the inclusion of Mongo S. by Bob James is further tribute to his overall ingenuity.
It’s just another cold day sitting in the shack, warm up the dome and write another track and turn up the mic, that’s that, turn off the lights and that’s that, yeah it’s just another cold day
How come no comedy musical was never written for taxi?? I would have thought it would be perfect for a musical would have been great still possible, you never thought about writing a musical for taxi? I would have Cyndi Lauper as one of the members of cast Danny DeVito... him buying the taxi company he wins the lottery, Cyndi Lauper being his mistress or nagging wife after his money lol Is crying out to be a Musical Comedy!
@@professormause nothing is wrong in that but what's wrong with having a comical musical around the world be great for the theatres, I don't see what your argument is
Hip hop owes this guy an award!!!
And a lot of money! 😆
As well as Jazz artists on Blue.Note, Verve, Impulse, and other labels.
Realtalk bro
He's well respected in the Hip-Hop Community 🎹✨️
I love how the pilot track for the guitar (Bob? singing the solo) was left in the track for us :D
Hiram Bullock does the electric guitar solo and vocalizations.😀

Ron Carter's bass is growling so fine on this cut!

Redman's I can't wait
takes me back to the 70s 80s, jazz flavors on 94 Q in Atlanta, other smooth jazz radio station s in Philly. it sounds good...
Loved this since 78 Timeless tunes..Still love to listen to this in 21 it has a calming affect..
I'm just listening to this, reminiscing about better days
Boy did I missed this track. Best of all jazz music. Listen to Earl Klugh and Hubert Laws go at it ...flute and guitar

How was the video done?
c'est tellement parfait qu'on dirait qu'il y a des erreurs de percussions
Café Legal, 1980
What about the great Santa Maria adding that Latin touch down conga feels.
à la 5ième minute 35ième seconde le batteur commence delicieusement à s'énerver
il y a un moment ça faillit être du reggae
on dirait que Earl Klugh intervient à la guitare sur ce morceau déjà à cette epoque
0:17
Louis logic dos factotum and lady paradox escapism
le sous-bassement a failli même être du reggae (bass+ keyboard)
.... même que le morceau a failli être de la Salsa

It was brilliant as a TV Show.
What's wrong with just that ?
