I am happy that I was able to see some videos and some of your shorts (I try to watch BOTH though I tend to have little time so I just watch the long ones and try to see the shorts when I can; maybe that is different from most! hehe), and I am happy I could buy you a few coffees here and there. I wish they did more. I am sorry about YT; I appreciate you clarifying the rules and what you really get out of these things. I ask people sometimes and I can't always get a full answer. You gave a true answer about how to get monetized, how to really make $, and the fee situation. One time I asked someone who had a private donation thing and also the YT thanks, what the difference was. I wanted the most amount to go to the person. I am sorry they charge so much. If there was a way to do it with fewer or no fees I would certainly do it!
As with any creative pursuit, prioritize your own health and sustainability because that's the best for the art too. Take time for yourself, and don't feel like you need to do things the same if it wasn't sustainable.
I've been making TH-cam videos for 16 years and never made a single penny. I only have over 500 subscribers. I'd love to make money, and I hoped I would eventually, but I just don't get the views except for 4 or 5 videos that have thousands of views. I do it for entertainment. @jbjacobs9514 whatever I think is interesting. I originally was going to be a railfanning channel (train videos), but I can't compete with the big guys who put up content every day and have thousands of videos.
