❤ i wanna try it out ❤
Watch the check! Party of 6 was charged a 20% “service fee” of $30+ which we were not made aware of. Almost left an additional $30+ tip so they would have been tipped more than 40% of the total check had it not been caught. Pretty sleazy move. Though automatic gratuities are common to charge for parties over a certain size, it is not common to do it quietly without notice!
still great prices for pizza. cheap.
You have really cool wallpaper. I think a cool video would be a tour of your home. I bet it has a classic feel.
Can you drive into the Evergreen Cemetery or only walk?
Both
Anyone in your party have the shrimp or fish? I ❤ seafood!!
they are roughly the same quality to me , i grew up eating from mom and pop type of places so all the big chain pizza places are hard for me to enjoy, but little caesars for the win for being half the price from the other two clowns. Pizza is my favorite type of food EVER
Didn't care for Pickett's. I rather you be honest. There are too many great places in town to waste my time at a buffet. I rather sit a d be waited on. I never mind paying for good food
Thank you.
Glad to see you back again. Great review. Always like your honesty. And BTW like the way your beard looks now. Took years off.
Take out the Drain Magic. Remove the filter, that you don't need. The water will go down much faster.
Looks like I’ll stick to the fried chicken, Mac and cheese and the deserts. $20 for buffet is reasonable now. But miss the civil war atmosphere and decor of Picketts compared to a sterile barn.
Always enjoy your smorgasbord reviews and was very happy to watch this one.
Thanks for the video. The last time I was past there they were still closed and working on the renovation. The food looks delicious. I'm looking forward to stopping there the next time I'm in the area.
They did a beautiful job of rebuilding this place! Never been here but hoping to go one day!
FYI, there's a couple from Tennessee who have made a number of nice videos on everything to do with Gettysburg. Their YT channel is "J and B in The Hills." Good videos on the battlefields, local businesses and hotels.
@@MrOoofah yes I’m familiar with them.
Nice video. I remember going to The Lincoln Diner at 1 am to eat pancakes/eggs after various frat parties. Those were the days! Interesting that you were a music major. Voice or instrument? I brought my drum set to the college and started a rock/pop band. We played the frats and at Wolfe's Pub (now The Pub and Tavern on Lincoln Square).
Saxophone.
Man, how the campus has changed. As you know, in our day the CUB had both a pool and bowling alley. I took bowling sophomore year for my Phys Ed credit. My residence each year: 1. Frosh- Paul Hall. Ugh! My roommate flunked out after J-Term, so I had my own room spring semester. 2. Sophomore- Patrick 3. Junior- off campus with 5 friends. Best year ever. We had a big backyard and threw good bbq's and parties. Drank copious quantities of Yuengling beer. 🍺 4. Senior- a single suite in Patrick (with my own bathroom/shower). That's the way to live!
Gettysburg alum here (1980-1984). Very nice tour of the campus with nice historical info.I never knew D. Eisenhower ran Camp Colt in Gettysburg. McCreary Hall- all sciences there now(except physics) Masters- Physics bldg Musselman Library- completed my first year. Students volunteered and carried many thousands of boxes of books from the old library! The apartments in the Quarry are the newest of the residence halls (and considered the nicest). Lots of open/airy common rooms with better natural light. I've stayed there for reunions. Gettysburg College is facing declining enrollment, as are many liberal arts colleges. Gettysburg owns many properties around campus, and will likely need to sell some to reduce its footprint and lower maintenance costs. The current President indicated he wants practically all students to reside on campus. All this part of the college's need to reduce costs. There has been talk of a possible merger/alliance with another nearby school- either F&M or Dickinson. I can't fathom how that would be possible logistically, as Dickinson is 25 miles away. Can Gettysburg afford to run frequent shuttles 50 miles roundtrip so students could take a class there? Seems unlikely. Would shared classes all be given online/remotely? Gettysburg shut down The Gettysburg Review, which caused an uproar of dissent by many alumni. Sadly, more serious cuts are coming. Academic depts are being trimmed and combined. Fewer visiting/adjunct professors are being hired, which adds to the workload of tenured staff. Check out www.gettysburgian.com for in-depth articles on the college's finances and future direction.
@@MrOoofah thanks for the info. I’m class of 1987.
@@thecynicalintrovert I was feeling nostalgic as classes begin 8/26 for GBurg. I did a YT search and found your video. Well done- I enjoyed it. I remember how nervous I was in August 1980. I was a kid from NYC going to a small rural/suburban campus. What was I thinking?🤦♂ Lol!
RIP Miss Mansfield💐
Sweet review.
Thank you for your review. That was extremely helpful.
The new owners destroyed Ernies hotdogs. The interior is gaudy. Horrible.
The buffett is expensive! and not good!!!! we went there for father's day. Just plain awful. don't waste your money.
You get what you pay for…
General Pickett's is my all time fav buffet. 😍 so looking forward to trying the new stop! I was so sad when they closed but now finding out they just moved location instead has me very hopefull!
Hearing differently from Destination Gettysburg Public Affairs' Office. 👇 Pickett's Buffet was unfortunately permanently closed. The Farmhouse Restaurant is a new buffet option located at the Barn Resort. Best, Moellyn Ramos Yetsko Marketing Manager Destination Gettysburg
That's an Apple Fritter.
YOO I WAS THERE THAT DAY PLUS I LIVE 5 MINUTES AWAY
Back in the late 80's early 90's I reenacted with the 56th PVI. We did encampment demonstrations on the museum's front lawn and then always stopped at the nearby Pickett's Buffet. For years we asked for the same waiter- a very "flamboyant" guy who was an outstanding waiter and our friend- who brought the drinks and other accoutrements to our table. I can assure you that he was tipped very well year after year. I wish I could remember that gentleman's name. The food was just ok but the people and the experience was first class- certainly better than a cast iron, open campfire porkfest back at the tent. Do they still have waiters/waitresses bring soda, bread and stuff at the new Barn?
@@ron56pvi13 I remember the waiter you mention but I also don’t remember his name. I agree that Pickett’s food was “ok”…some days better than others but I always enjoyed going there. The new place has waiters/waitresses to get your drinks and take your plates.
Does that carnival have the dead hang challenge? If you don't know what the dead hang is. U have to grip this metal bar for either 100 seconds or 2 minutes and if u stay on u win $100. Does anybody know if they have one their?
Very cool, I have never been but I am local!
The New China Buffet was awesome, they added a grilling station and really went downhill. I live nearby and took a chnce and was not disappointed, the food was OK, I wasn't expecting much so there it is. Great review, definately spot on. And for myself, I'll do it once a month.
Awesome video review !!! Love my Bella waffle maker !!!
How much is the buffet
Lunch buffet was $16.95 plus tax. Beverage not included.
@@thecynicalintrovert Looks like price$ went up. Tue-Sat $17.99 Sunday Brunch is seated until 3:30pm $19.99 Dinner begins at 4pm Tue-Thu and Sun $22.99 Fri-Sat $24.99 Children 4-12 $8.95 lunch, $10.95 dinner
I just dropped in to watch a man with a great beard eat a burger!
How sad. Erine's was such a great place. For the life of me, I can't imagine why the new owners would totally ruin a proven success like Ernie's. I predict a failed attempt here, but sadly since these short sighted new owners decided to gut everything that made the place special, I doubt we will ever see Ernie's to ever return. The lack of menu options and the price hikes will seal this new ventures fate.
I totally agree with you 100%. We live in Johnstown and would take a drive to Gettysburg especially to eat at Ernie’s. The owners knew us and they had the same waitress that worked there for years. I don’t like the change of the decor, prices, menu changes. Once you walk through the door, you are no longer in the business you were used to and liked. Tomorrow I will drink coffee out of my Ernie’s mug. I was under the impression that most of the food would remain the same, passing the recipes on to the new owner. I might just go to Sheets for hotdogs… 🥲😡
SHEETZ! Oops 😬
MAGNIFICENT !!!!!! Thank you 😊😊
I love coffee as a flavor. I think combined with chocolate it can ascend to a new level beyond chocolate or coffee alone. Excellent review as always!
Thanks for the video! I am NOT an outside eater so I would tell them where to stick it, unless in the olden days when I lived in Knoxville and there was a place up the block from my townhouse - so I would get it and bring it back because they had a "stand" not a storefront. Plus the fact that they have no phone for inquiries...this does not seem like a place for me. The ice cream looks great but there are so many different ice cream places. One question: did they offer a tiny sample so you could decide or had you had the flavor before - it looks yummy but some places tend to give you one of those weeny spoons for a sample if you ask (or they offer if they are very nice). Customer service is not a priority anymore, especially post-covid (not that it is a covid thing but it just got so bad during and after covid that people are just derelict in their responsibilities and personalities even moreso!).
I’m not sure if they offer samples. I didn’t ask.
JB Jacobs is back!!!
Thanks for the review. That ice cream looked good. The price was definitely good. I think this might be a good place to go to avoid the bigger crowds in town.
Great video. Never was there while we've been to Gettysburg. We've only been to Mr Gs once. It was really good. After dinner too full. Love that you're doing videos from Gettysburg
Looks good! I love sea salt with ice cream or chocolate! I was back Gettysburg back in 2017 and I had a really good blueberry ice cream ,but I wish I could remember the name of the shop! Enjoy your vacation! 🍦
Thanks for the review. I hate to see old businesses with such a long history close. I wish that I would have gone to Ernie's when it was open. It sounds like they are trying to save money with the A/C system, which is not a good idea with this heat wave. The prices seem high. This place will be toward the bottom of my list for food the next time I'm in Gettysburg. I think there are better places to eat.
I agree with the prices... a bit high and I don't enjoy strong coffee either!. thank you for these restaurant reviews as I take them seriously!
I didn't know the Texas Lunch closed. Too bad the new owners didn't continue it.
I'm glad I saw this video. This is one of the places me and my husband enjoyed. I like the old booths. Not sure I like the modern theme. But if the Texas sauce is still good on the hot dogs.. we will give a a try.
The hot dogs looked very good but I agree a little in the pricey side.
I see me in your video 😅
Did a really good job, glad to see your back making videos, ice cream looked, better at some than others, prices were all over the board. Tha ones that charge more than ten dollars is ridiculous! Have a great week 😀🇺🇸
Hey I was wondering if the quality of the burger meal was on par with the quality of the He-Man and if their are any other items on the menu you can recommend. great video!
I think the burgers are great…especially for the price. I may be biased, though, because the cheeseburger deluxe has been my “go to” since I was a kid in college. I also really like their ham loaf. From the breakfast menu the lumberjack and any of the Omelettes are great.
