I can relate to feeling quilt when returning products. However, brands make it so difficult to pick the right shade.
Can’t wait for the Gucci video.

Also, sell the foundations that don’t work for you on Mercari at a discounted price. They’re practically new! You can recoup some money and it doesn’t end up in the trash.

oh my gosh! I needed to hear this! hahaha! I always feel bad returning! lol. What I do now when I'm not sure about a foundation I will buy the foundation and also.ask for a sample (at Sephora) of the same foundation and color to test it out that way if I don't like it I return the foundation new vs used. They will not trash it if it is not used.

    • @MyCrownstar

@@debbieh9009 good idea, but as someone that worked in retail, unless the bottle/box is wrapped, for example in clear wrap, they will still trash it. There are crazy people in the world that can unscrew the top and who knows what they can put in it. Stores can’t take the risk and will trash it for liability reasons.
All stores should offer samples. At least we don’t live in the UK, where you can’t return makeup.

Your videos bring me so much joy. Idk why lol like who would think to make a video comparing different shades like this but it's so informative and entertaining... You're my fav ❤️ also I got a sample of the haus labs and I'm really impressed, I think it's a legit dupe for the la mer foundation at a fraction of the cost. I haven't tried the hourglass because I've got enough foundations that act as foundations. Maybe I'll pick up a sample next time in Sephora out of curiosity 😋 also I don't have any friends that are interested in makeup like I am so when you said "who else am I going to talk about this with other than you" I felt that 😅

I’m glad you did this video comparing the various Hourglass shades and Haus foundation. If you didn’t have the 3 Hourglass foundations we couldn’t see how difficult it is to pick the correct shade. Strange how 11.5 and 12 look very close. I think 11 (neutral) works for you and will look even better come fall/winter. And don’t feel guilty if you want to return the other foundations it is not something you do on a regular basis. The Haus foundation is a great match for you and it’s hard to see the difference between Nars. And I love the Gucci blush you picked! 😊❤️

You’re probably going to be paler in another month or so and the other two might be too warm. I like the Haus Labs finish the best. I want that Gucci blush! Most of the year you are not this "tan/bronzed" I think if one of the hourglass foundations is closest to a shade that you can usually pick up year around and it works... 🤷🏽‍♀️ go with that one and return the rest. I'm so glad to see your foundation swatches. I'm a skosh lighter than you and cool/red. Girl, those Hourglass swatches looked so yellow on you. I think your skin tone might be more like mine and cooler. Our depth of skin, everyone always told me I'm warm yellow toned and they looked so off. I bought in to the lie that 80% of skin tones are warm. I really just think these companies don't know how to formulate cool shades in the medium/deep depth. But when you find one it ends up matching. Definitely stick with 11. And don't feel bad about returning foundation when these brands clearly don't understand undertone and depth on darker shades.

  • @das_ein
    @das_ein ปีที่แล้ว

Doh! You’re so right. 11 is grey-ish. Their “warm” is peach. 🤔 I’ve never found a shade match personally. Some brands just have different propensities. 😬 You are very kind and balanced in your phrasing… ☺️
As someone else mentioned, selling almost-new makeup is a reasonable way to prevent excess waste. Lots of used powder products (eyeshadow, blush, etc.) get sold on Mercari/Depop, but also foundations or other liquids that come in pumps (as opposed to wands or other methods where the product is potentially touched). Of course, it does require work/time to post, manage, and ship, so it’s not worthwhile for everyone.

I'm torn on the return issue. On the one hand, I understand feeling guilty about having the product thrown away. On the other hand, if you didn't return them, then Hourglass just sold you 3 bottles of foundation not because you wanted 3, but because their shade range is so crazy. I feel like the shades are the #1 complaint in the reviews I watched, so it's not just you. Ultimately, I think returning the ones that didn't work is the right choice. Hopefully, the amount of returns will let Hourglass know that they need to work on their shade range.

Alicia darling, for what I can see on the video everything looks great on you,
except the 12. It´s a bit too yellow for winter. Just mix the HG 11 and 11.5.
Hourglass colors are all over the place. I am a light/neutral shade, B30 on
Chanel for reference, and in the Hourglass 7.5 is a perfect match for summer,
I went to get a lighter color for winter, thinking that 6.5 would be the perfect
match, and to my surprise, 6.5 is much darker/yellow than 7.5.
The Haus looks fenomenal in the color you chose.
Don´t hesitate to return a product, especially from HG, since their colors are
very confusing, even in person. I took home three samples before I was able
to find the right shade for me. Even the Sephora shade finder wasn´t helping.
I personally prefer the Haus Lab formula, but even though I have dry/normal skin,
I like to finish it with a light dusting of powder, it seems the powder seals the
foundation, and gives it a better finish. The Gucci blush is gorgeous on you.
Be glad you splurge. I also got one, and I like it better than my Chanel. Love you!

I really appreciate your video. I'm not buying HausLabs. I also have trouble finding a good shade match because I too seem to have neutral leaning olive undertone, but not super olive. So pure neutral looks better than peach undertones. I often end up getting foundation that's too dark because the undertone match is better and then making concoctions. And often when I swatch in store I think that mixing two shades looks best. I love the look of CT Flawless Filter, though you've convinced me to try Nars... Also, no guilt on your returns. You provide the most amazing and detailed reviews!!! I'm so excited that more people are learning from your brilliance.

Is the haus labs 330 shade similar to shiseido radiant foundation 340 oak? 340 oak is my summer shade and armani luminous silk 6 my winter shade. 330 haus foundation looks good for you, but you said oak not quite right for you. Can you do a swatch with 330 haus and 340 oak please. Thankyou

I would say (and this is from memory) that Oak is a TOUCH more neutral, and the Haus Labs has a little more golden in there.

I just debated for 20 minutes over my Haus Labs shade. I usually match to peach undertones, but what is rosy peach vs. golden peach? I went with golden but since when is golden "cool"? I have no idea if I picked correctly. 🙄

Haus Labs' shade wheel is different from what you're used to with other makeup brands because they adopt a system of undertones rooted in artistry.
WARM = Pink, rosy or peach tones
Most beauty brands define their warm as yellow or golden shades
COOL = Yellow, golden or olive tones
Most beauty brands define their cool as pink, rosy, or red
NEUTRAL = Balance of warm + cool tones
This is consistent across all beauty brands.

Yes! As Artomeda explained, the color wheel is reliable in using to figure out your shade. They also break this down on their IG stories!
