- In today's video, I am reviewing the NEW Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation. I have been wearing the foundation for the last 5-6 days. In the review, I will be doing a 12 hr wear test, and also do a daylight midday check-in so you can see it in the natural daylight. I have a lot of thoughts on this, I hope this review is helpful. I knew everyone in the comment section would be so so helpful about this shade range🎉🎉 Many of you explained this foundation Shade range was similar to Mac, I haven't bought a Mac foundation in so long, I had no idea😆 Also, someone mentioned that Risa, from Risa does makeup Explains the shade range, and they are right. It seems like some brands are making things more “difficult “ with some of these new launches… Wayne Goss points out the “Feel of Charlotte Tillbury is borderline Benefit” with the packaging & claims.
At my age .. I want simplicity… I’m not complaining.. however most of us are not pro “makeup artists “ You test out makeup all day & this could have been a walk-in the park if they labeled the shades to what the majority knows NOT to “feel” like a makeup artist.. It’s pretty difficult for me to explain in words … not at all negative intentions… just don’t get why things like this can be straightforward so we all don’t end up with purchasing 4 shades just to try out the latest “hyped up” foundation. Hopefully that comes across with ♥️ … Thank you for being so adorable & HONEST ♥️♥️
Yes her video was very helpful! I did the shade match test on Haus Labs website and it recommended shade 260 which ended up being perfect! I’m a light-medium golden olive and my perfect match has always been Dior Airflash in 3WO during summer and 2WO in winter so I’ve been VERY bummed about the discontinuation…..until now! I am soooooo happy with this Haus Labs foundation.! O…..M….G!!!!
Accuracy of methodology aside, I will say that as someone who's light/medium with pink undertones I can never rely upon "cool" or "warm" in foundation descriptions. The entire hourglass line of cool shades goes more... grey? when they have a cool shade but nothing in the range feels pink as an example. I've found foundations where the warm is a peach and that's a better option than the grey shades, but bottom line is I have to see the shade in person to know if it's pink leaning unless that's specifically included in the description (pink or cool rosy, etc.). Because I know warm/cool is unreliable I really like when the brands or Sephora will describe the actual undertone color.

I’m 74 and it’s the best foundation I’ve ever had. I went with the shade 200 and I’m fair and it worked. Even my husband said it made me look younger and I’m all for that.
Shades are described exactly like MAC and it is the artistic description of colours. A shade marked as "cool" does not mean it is a cool tone, it means the cool tone is neutralized (and is therefore warm). If you are looking for a foundation with a warm undertone - go with a neutralized-cool tone.
I haven't bought a Mac foundaction in so many years, I had no idea Mac did that as well😆 THANK YOU for sharing all the information you shared. So so so helpful, I had never heard of that before so this is fascinating information ❤️ Really appreciate you taking the time to explain. So helpful❤️

@@vannasgran6176 If you are neutral, then stick to the Neutrals - they are the easy ones :) Haus has warm, cool and neutral - it is only the "warm" and "cool" that seem backwards - neutrals are neutrals.
Was just about to say that!! The radiance face and body reboot MAC did tried to reverse the way they did shades and what stood for cool in their line previously for face and body is the opposite now of their orig naming system and has definitely also made even more confusing when buying face and body for MAC customers.
When you give a foundation a 5/5 and repeatedly say “this is a beautiful foundation”, I am sold. You have never steered me wrong. Thank you so much for this thorough review.

Thank you Tara! I’ve been waiting for your thorough review! I decided to get a sample of this at Sephora, and finding the right shade is tough. I’m a true neutral and it seems like even the neutrals lean a little warm or cool. I’ve worn it three days and my only complaint (I’m 45 with skin like yours) is that it doesn’t latch on to the skin as good as I would like, like if I eat something that touches my upper lip the foundation is just gone, if I bump my face I will see a spot where the foundation is missing. And I do powder and use primers and have tried tripping primers , I will try a few more primers, but I do have foundations that hang on just a bit better

When I got into make up I was so confused as to why red, pink (a soft red), orange (peach) were considered cool, and olive was considered warm. In the world we use red, orange for fire and blue, and green for cold things. In artistry this is what cool (green, blue, purple) is and what warm (red, orange, yellow) is. I had to turn my brain around and adjust to what make up industry was saying. To this day I have to do the switch. When I saw Haus Lab color wheel it made sense, like how Mac made sense to me. I completely get the confusion if you've used the make up color wheel as the industry says. But if you think about it when you wear an orange top we say it's a warm color and a blue sweater a cool tone top. It's the same mentality.
The neutral shade I got was very on point. I got light medium neutral and it was the best

Your frustration with the cool rosy tone you first got is exactly how I feel about brands that cannot get cool/pink tone foundations right. I'm cool toned and there are certain brands that have what they call cool shades, but I get them home and they are as yellow as yellow can be. Nars and Charlotte Tilbury are two that come to mind.

Your swatches are a LIFESAVER. We are almost twins and you swatched all of my best foundations -- Pat Mcgrath, Shiseido, Dior. I'm a shade lighter than you in each of those so it's very helpful to see that Haus 300 looks a bit lighter than those, which should be perfect for me.

I think the pink tone looks good on camera and Haus has followed the MAC shade designation. The neutral looks perfect. When in doubt go neutral (at least it isn't orange - my greatest fear.😊

i tested it on my hand last night in store. They didn’t have all the shades but the light medium neutral seemed like a good match. It is very nice. I didn’t purchase it, but I will now!
It is correct, as others said, that Mac uses red/ pink as warm tones.
So I wear some of the same shades as you do in the winter and I wear C4 (cool) and close to NC42 (neutral cool) in Mac.
I’m going to order 330 in this foundation to try it out.

Oh I've been waiting to see what you thought of this one! Can't buy this brand in Australian Sephora only direct from HL so I'm a little concerned about shade matching...I have no exact shade twin when the rest of the world is using summer shades 😬 I work at night, there's no sunlight so I don't ever have a summer shade and even the English got a tan this year 🤣
Per their website they use the traditional color chart like MAC! So like cool undertone shades are actually for warm complexions and the warm shades are for cool undertones! I had 300 originally and it was a little orange on me. I went back and got 260 and it works better as my real tan is golden !
I heard a lot about how the foundation tones are the complete opposite and yup it is. I'm so glad I went into an actual store to try it out and find my shade. I stood there for like thirty minutes trying out the same two shades because I'm neutral to cool tone but the one that matches me the most at least in store was a "warm tone" one. I kept second guessing myself that it's the lighting and I should grab the neutral one instead because there's no way I'm a warm. Buy base of description and such not the name please. I'm so glad I picked up a "warm tone" one. Matches perfectly.

Nice review Tara Lynn. I have oily skin and picked this one up during the Sephora sale after hearing rave reviews. I almost returned it because it looked like I had nothing on--then I realized that was the point. I have never had a foundation that looked so skin like that you can't see it! I am now in love with this foundation. It looks gorgeous on you Tara Lynn!

Ok what I have been hearing is that it is similar to the Mac shade charts. It has something to do with what the shade cancels out not what it is. So, if you have red in your skin you look for the shade that cancels out the red tones not the shade that matches it. Why on earth she decided to go in this direction is beyond me. Shade matching is already hard enough. She has a big color wheel on her website that helps to guide you to choose the right shade. I went with a neutral and I am just hoping it comes close to a match. I haven't received it yet as I just ordered it yesterday. I normally wear a fair neutral shade. Ok back to your video!
Yes, I heard the same. Very confusing indeed! I feel like going in to colour match is probably best with this one, however, while the Sephora matching tool didn't work for me, the one on the Haus Labs website matched me well. I went in Sephora and my match was indeed the one I was matched to on the website: 015 Fair Warm is the colour name, and the description:
Ultra Fair Porcelain With Rosy Undertones, is for what your skin is, at least that's what I understand. Based on that, it's correct and did cancel out my redness. But yes, confusing!!
So interesting that they name a shade by what it cancels out. I’m not even gonna try picking my shade online then, I’ll go get matched at Sephora. Thanks for the info!
Ya, that doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. I understand the concept, but don't see how it actually works. I'm a warm Undertone and that 310 shade was straight up awful on me. I looked like I was sick. Definitely NOT for warm skin. Haha. 😆 But, nevertheless, this foundation is FLIPPING FANTASTIC 🎉🎉🎉

If you go by their colour wheel, it gives you a very good match.
I swatched this in store the other day. I think it was 370 and it was a nice warm shade that would work for me. Im tan and i need warm shades too. Its good to know about the shades from cool to tone. Some were too pink. I need more coverage so wasnt sure if this was enough coverage. I still want to try it.

I'm so late trying on this foundation! bought it at the sephora sale last week. For someone who isn't a foundation wearer everyday, I am loving this one so much. I do have combo skin fyi.
Typically olive green is a cool color, when mixed in with yellow it becomes slightly warmer bringing it closer to neutral, but it’s still overall a cool toned color.

About the undertones, MAC does the same thing. They describes thing from an artist's perspective where red is the warmest shade and blue/green is the coolest.
Still doesn't make much sense to me, but that's where it's at.
I have friends that are artists (so not flexing!) who says cool tones means yellow and who am I to question artistic authority?

I know the Future Skin shades and since I'm "Camomile" in that I need to go a lot lighter in Haus Labs.
Well hold my watercolor brush 😄.. with all due respect to your artist frens, yellow is not a cool color! You can make it cool if you add white in it, sure but otherwise it's a warm color, at least in my universe LoL. I'm yellow undertone and if I put on cool or even neutral toned foundations I look straight up grey 😅 so yeah, my two humble artstic cents. Oh and the same goes for green, it can be cool if you put some blue in it and it can be warm if you put yellow innit (oh hey, yellow again warming up a color haha) . Btw I often see your comments here and there and I like reading them! You're cool 😊

I agree with all you said! Looks beautiful on the skin and wears so well. But finding a match is too problematic. I am medium deep with warm, golden undertones. I have sampled 3 shades - the shade for me BY DESCRIPTION is 470, but it is too deep. The one that looks the best is 460 but by description the undertones are wrong. Also tried 440 but it was too light and undertone was off. Definitely need to get samples in store if possible. Thanks for such a thorough review!
As a cool olive tone gal, when i am tan i look healthy and warm but when i get to my winter tone i look like a sickly sea witch. So the cool tone golden tone probably is more to due with neutralizing my undertone where i dont look as sickly is my best guess.
Yes, I'm a light cool olive as well and if you add more of that on top, you look sick. I went to an artist for best my colors and he gave me a shell pink for my nude color (color you base your nudes on as well as foundations etc) because it brings all the healthy colors of my skin together. I'm excited to go try some of these colors because they look really close to what he suggested to me.
I agree, MAC is the same. I'm a cool pink skin tone. I get warm in MAC. Settled on a neutral in Haus Labs.
The fantastic news is they actually have an accurate light-medium & medium cool toned shade!!!!! 💞 Omg that's amazing, finally!!! I don't understand the unusual descriptions and it's the reason I haven't tried it yet but it really helps to know it still has pink!!! I will buy this just for that reason!! Whether you care or not this brand just included a category of people most always left out. Thanks for sharing, there was a reason for getting that first shade! 🤍
I think the neutral is perfect. I'm pale and warm/neutral generally speaking - some foundations I'm more neutral, some more warm. I have the yellow tones as opposed to olive. I read the descriptions and had the same dilemma as you but was all prepared to get cool. If you think about it, it probably makes sense, I think pink is warmer than yellow. I always tended to flit between Dior foundations and Estee Lauder doublewear. I think the colours in Dior suited me better though I'm a bit out of touch with them these days as the ones I used to get have been discontinued. I tend to wear doublewear 1W0.

Hey girl! I’m an md who often spends 24hours+ at the hospital, I was interested in the Valentino foundation but I don’t know how it holds after a long night out let’s say (it is my benchmark to know if my foundation will resist a shift lol). People online often say WHO THE HELL WEARS THEIR FOUNDATION FOR 24 HOURS?? We do, us vain doctors 😂 during the pandemic my shifts would stretch to 30 hours . So I have a good skin prep, I know how to make it last with setting spray and so on, but still.. I need an exceptional foundation. All this to ask you how it holds during your nights out
@B M First off, thank you for your service, I always admire and appreciate those in the health care industry for their dedication ❤️( even before the pandemic 😆) Anyway, the Valentino holds up well. @@Those.who.stay.silent.consent the finish of the Valentino foundation is great the skin looks healthy and plump... But when it comes to longevity I will give it a 10hr great hold pass that it will start fading away. I love that it doesn't crack or cake on me it actually fades away and that makes a tremendous difference for long wear since it will fade naturally. I do recommend it. I keep my foundation on at least 10hr daily but I have used this one for 18hr + and I loved it it sounds like a lot of time but if you have a busy weekend you put on your makeup at 7 in the AM and if you get home late at night you need a foundation that will still look nice at the end of the day and this one does it for me

I had a makeup consultant from Sephora help me pick a shade. She suggested 050 Fair Cool. You are right, the description is “Very Fair With Golden Peach Undertones” which is backwards to me. I would have gone with warm since I actually have warm undertones.

You are so funny! You ALWAYS have a lot to say - which is wonderful! I picked up shade 130 and I absolutely love it! But I do agree that the descriptions were really weird. I am definitely a cool tone and the 130 says light warm, yet rosy. I ended up going into the store to get matched because I couldn’t figure it out.

The way these undertones are listed are exactly the same as Mac. My first experience of Mac, after using other brands, completely blew my mind and confused my poor brain 😂😂😂
This shade looked to be very similar to the TF Traceless Stick foundation, Shell Beige - which, I think is a shade "grey".

On Camara actually looks very clean and smooth application the first one believe it or not .
MAC describes their cool and warm tones in the exact same way. I’ve heard that it’s so you can end up with a neutral finish. I don’t know exactly though. I just know that most people suggest reading MACs shades, which start out with NC or NW as “not cool” or “not warm”, thought I believe the N stands for Neutral.
Yea, it is weird that all foundation brands can’t just use one system for us. But I understand (nowadays anyways) that for my olive warm skin I need to neutralize the cool areas on my face (the redness on my cheeks, the blue tones under my eyes, etc) so that my face can match the rest of me better. So yes, like Mac, they are using the “neutralize” system. Neutralizing cool….to make my skin evened out which turns out looking warm olive. Hope that makes sense. Lol

I’m always a medium shade..not a light medium. In this though, I got a sample of 280 Light Medium N. I was really surprised how dark it is for a light/medium.
I just ordered it! I used the shade match quiz on the Haus Labs website so I hope it matches. All of the swatch pictures look so pink/peach! My skin type is “tragedy” right now (still getting over Covid), but I’m typically normal to oily.
