Ylang-ylang tree, we used to have several of those trees in our backyard back in the 60s. Huge trees. My grandfather gave those trees to his daughters and daughter in law, my mom. The flowers were being sold since time immemorial here in the Philippines because it is used as a garland strewn together with arabian jasmine and those leis are used for religious purposes. How ever much ylang ylang flowers were sold, the proceed goes to whose daughter owns the tree that the flowers were harvested from. It's a very fragrant flower and our town used to be filled with them. There was a saying then that you know you're already in San Pedro if the wind smells like Ylang-ylang.
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep it's an elegant floral scent like an old world feminine scent. Eveytime I get a hold of this flower which is rare now in some places, it hits me with strong nostalgic memories of childhood. There is something about a scent thay stirs the memories long forgotten.
@@kristineflores7998 I grow the jasmine sambac and it's one of my favorite scents but yang yang is impossible to grow indoors haha I hope one day to smell it.
I admire how you know the names of these plants. Such a beautiful place I’d love to visit one day. The care that is given by the caretaker is such a love and skill that makes for such beauty.
The horticulturist guide really knew A LOT about the plants in the conservatory including their care requirements. I was amazed when he said there were 2 people that hand water all the plants daily so that they get the proper attention that they needed. The two plants from the Philippines - their medinilla magnifica and the jade vine were gorgeous. I have both plants at home but they will never grow as large or as beautiful as the ones featured in the conservatory.
I can't believe how amazing Todd is. He knows every detail about every plant. Also I like the fact that he is not only knowledgeable about plants but he also enjoys the design aspect of it. Thank you Todd and Summer. 🙏PS. I think at 08.42 the plant on the floor is not a selloum but a xanadu (Thaumatophyllum xanadu). 08.53 is selloum I guess.
I’ve worked with a lot of plant people over the years, but I learned the most from Todd Roy. Great video! I miss working with him, but I don’t miss wearing the uniform 🤓
Oh, I live this place!!! I am in heaven when I go there. So cool you did a video here! Gonna use my annual pass and go next week! Thanks for reminding me!!
I admire how you know the names of these plants. Such a beautiful place I’d love to visit one day. The care that is given by the caretaker is such a love and skill that makes for such beauty. Beautiful place, Summer! Thank you for taking us along
Thanks for a wonderful wonderful video today. You did a great job shooting at sharing this beautiful estate and his beautiful greenhouse and how they take care of all the beautiful plant. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy, and Debbie always enjoy coming by and seeing what you all have to share hugs and kisses from grandma, Sandy and Debbie.
Absolutely stunning! I can't even imagine how wonderful it must have smelt in there. How does Todd (as well as you Summer) remember so many plant names?!
Thank you for this amazing tour. Ive been to Biltmore a few times but not recently and its even more exciting than I remember. Very much looking forward to the orchid tour. ❤😊
Stunning! Thanks for this outstanding tour with an outstanding host. He really knows his stuff and I am impressed with his relaxed disposition. I'd say a Cornell Hort Grad can touch any plants she wants...I do!...x♥
Absolutely spectacular! I like the idea of keeping the plants in pots, and just arranging or putting everything together to bring fullness in a garden. It would be good to put in a spot among perennials for a pop of color, without taking up a lot of room. I may try that with annuals this year in my garden. Thank you, Summer and Todd for the lovely tour!
Thank you for the tour. I was inspired after watching this to visit my local nursery to upgrade/replace some of the plants in my south facing sunporch. I wintered over coleus cuttings and have since planted them out but decided to buy a few more to live permanently inside.
Beautiful Estate!! When I went there I didn't visit the conservatory! We went to the mansion, stables and vineyard. I am planning to go soon and visit the conservatory
I was so happy to see this video! Finally a tour that is in my neck of the woods. Visit Asheville at least once a year and usually in Mar/Apr But did go once about End of Apr but the weather has not cooperated! So the green houses were always closed. Only once did they have some plants outside to buy. I bought my first and only lace leaf japanese maple tree from there. It now lives in my front yard & is about 6 ft tall. (I need to start training/shaping it) This year we are going at the end of June so I hope get inside this time! Thank you for visiting and Im off to watch the orchid video!
That Jade orchid, we have it embedded in our coin here Philippines. Its a rare orchid. Im happy that its grows beautifully in a place that I wish to visit.
Wow just wow what a beautiful place. I am amazed by the low view count on this video. I have never seen such a beautiful starlight I have it earlier but it died. I will buy it again for sure.
6:02 Bromeliads are great... But I think some of the mangave varieties give them a run for their money. I use mangave in sinilar ways, and I don't have to worry about watering, or even providing them with light. I have dozens of pups sitting in my basement, on a pallet shelf, and I bring them up, pot them up, water them, and they carry on! I implore the Biltmore to at least add mangave into their bromeliad setups!
The sign says not to touch but you touched so many plants. I can see why, I would want to touch also. Did he give you permission to touch for video? What is the reason for no touching? Absolutely beautiful! Really enjoyed the video.
I’m not understanding why you think Biltmore is remote. Asheville, NC is not a remote location and the estate is only 5 miles from the city center. There is a bus, if you don’t have a car.
You said Peperomia are wind pollinated but I've observed that the inflorescences will attract flies here in Costa Rica. Maybe it's both though I'm not sure the pollen grains would fly very far.

I have one growing. Love the green color flower and nice smell at night
Beautiful Conservatory reflects the dedication of the employee.

That dude seems like a great human being. A true steward of the garden.
So wonderful to hear two knowledgeable people talk about plants,❤️

Beautiful, colorful and very interesting. Everything was so creatively arranged that you feel like just looking at it.

Thank you for visiting and Im off to watch the orchid video!
I've been twice, spring and fall and I would love to see Christmas some day.
Stunning arrangements and display, but somehow surprised ( dismayed?) that everything is in pots.
Great video, please do more!
I'm in love with that shirt you are wearing! And your pants are the perfect color to pair with it 😍 i absolutely love floral patterns.
Biltmore was just 3 miles from my house. Love AVL.
That Jade orchid, we have it embedded in our coin here Philippines. Its a rare orchid. Im happy that its grows beautifully in a place that I wish to visit.

42:19 Correction: Hoya pubicalyx is not from Mexico, it is a native of the Philippines. Hoyas are not found naturally in the New World.
The sign says not to touch but you touched so many plants. I can see why, I would want to touch also. Did he give you permission to touch for video? What is the reason for no touching?
Absolutely beautiful! Really enjoyed the video.
Touching can damage the plants. I was surprised to see her touching literally every plant.
just so beautiful!!! Summer, I hope you also set up a botanical garden of sorts at FFL :D
When I was a teenager I went to Biltmore Estate. The Garden area was not open at that time, it was in the 70s.
Now I need a Biltmore trip
It so beautiful place to be 😀
So pretty ❤
The dream!
I was thinking of visiting this place. The location is remote and that can make visiting it difficult.
Yes it’s worth the trip

Those philodendron selloum were reclassified to thaumatophyllum in 2020!
🤩Dazzling!!!🤩💚🕊☮️

Awe, I was hoping this was about the winery. I guess I misread the title. But I love your channel.
Lets watch 💕💪🏾🐉🇸🇮
nice video
Ernest goes to Greenhouse
This comment made my day, it deserves so many more likes. But THIS man is like 1000x hotter 😅
🤩🤩🤩
What the hell! You’re in Asheville? It would of been nice meet you.
So hard to find that under the sea coleus.
Summer, where did you get the beautiful shirt your are wearing in this episode!?
Clivia are very much South African plants, their cousins Hippeastrum are South American.
I was just there I live right out side of asheville

&be still my beating heart
You must show us at Christmas time please
I also would have to have my hands cuffed in order not to touch the plants lol
Do you plant like this i saw only in the philippines and i dont know this name
Art & plants must stimulate the same parts of the brain 😅
hey this is mine guy , lol dont like open space like walking into a jungle , same style as me of packing plants , but mindful if pest comes ....
