The guy who leads the tour is incredible! What charisma, how easily atracts people into his ample knowledge. He must have already converted some children into future researchers. His passion for plants, the sparkle in his eyes, is contagious. A rare talent.

I find it amazing that the Victoria waterlilies open white then turn purple after a certain pollinating beetle gets stuck inside the blossom overnight. The beetle can only escape when the flower opens the next morning, at which time the color change indicates it has been pollinated. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden also has a Victoria lily in it’s conservatory, or at least it did before covid.

The historic preservation division of the company I was working for (LMB; Lehrer MacGovern Bovis) contracted the refurbishing of the glass Victorian greenhouse at the NYBG pre-Y2k. Having worked on the proposal/presentation I was aware of the time-intensive method by which each strut of the conservatory had to be painstakingly cast in a sturdy rust-resistant, composite material. First each panel was disassembled, cast, then reassembled to exact spec. I also worked on the proposal/presentation for the re-do of the new(-ish) multi-level conservatory at the BBG in Bklyn, they were very rewarding projects.

I’ve always enjoyed my day trips to both the NYBG in The Bronx and the BBG in Brooklyn. In addition to the amazing plant collection the NYBG holds a great plant/orchid show & sale each spring around Easter. They also had/have a fantastic miniature train display every Christmas season.

A fantastic tour of a garden I wished I had visited while in New York many years ago. This video was a very great ending of an entire day spent searching and gathering information on a few more cacti and other desert plants to add to my outdoors container garden here in the Big Bend. Thank you again for a wonderful visit.

I plant dutchman's white vines and a couple other varieties in my garden for them to eat. Please research it and share. Thank you for everything and for getting me through the pandemic too. 💚

OMG!!! I feel validated right now because I had the same experience with my spathiphyllums! I too kept noticing a fragrance around mine and, at first, didn't realize it was my spaths blooms!!! They smell so damn good! But no one would believe me that mine blooms had a fragrance because theirs didn't. Mine don't smell like mint, and I've never smelled a hyacinth. I can't really describe what mine smell like. So why do some have a fragrance while others don't? I gave some divisions away to friends, and their blooms don't smell...even though they came from my mother plants. I don't get it.

    • @summerrayneoakes

The cultivars are monumentally diverse and probably come from slightly different parentage, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have picked up smell from their parents!

Each cell in the human body carries a millivolt. Each cell in the body does the same thing, it operates in the same way, it's the coding that's different. A cell either receives or loses an electron. If cells are e- that's pH 14 if cells is e+its pH 0. You need to balance the electrons in the body for cellular regeneration. Grounding and food mainly. X Body's don't work properly.
