Great game. The third time I played it all players had played it at least once and it had a really nice flow. The player aids and components are fantastic! Well done CGE, and of course Tomas Holek!
With 4 players, this game takes 5 hours and I lost several scanning battles because the last player put the same amount of tokens there. it feels very bad and i think its a bad mechanic. it makes it very hard for me to play a second time.
I must say I disagree with the issue with the cards. Firstly the player aid is great and so robust that essentially every icon is covered on there, and it is all very intuitive. I turned up to my gaming group late this week due to an train cancellation, so missed the teach, but we just jumped straight in and I was able to pick everything up very quickly from the player aid alone. All the cards are just slight variations/upgrades on the base actions so I don't think they ever need explaining in text.
What are the criteria You rate the game, like why 8.5 and not 8 or anything else ? Based on feeling or are there some criteria You go through and then end up with final rating for the game ?
@@thedicetowerapologies if the question came off as harsh. Was more intrigued as I’ve only ever heard it that way when referring to Data from Star Trek. Being from the south now living in the PNW I know all about different pronunciations.
@davidmarowske4243 looking thru my shelves I only have 2 Czech games, Arnak and Ark Nova. Arnak can get samey very quick but not Ark. I don't want to commit to a 5 play game this pretty
@@davidmarowske4243 ... what CGE game? I mean, everyone's experience is different but there aren't that many CGE games and I can only think of a couple that I didn't like (kutna hora and starship captains) and even those weren't bad because they got stale. I believe I still have 11 and they're all still fun after many plays.
As does this game. You are primarily searching (scanning) for signals outside of the Sol system (those biggest data points around the edges of the board) while within the Sol system you are sending missions that basically increase your understanding of space in general and help your agency to do other things better.
Genuine question: would you like every game to appeal to the same people? Arcs has been a huge hit this year: perfect way to get your interaction fix. Or is this just snark to farm some thumbs?
"SETI" really looks more complex than it is, and that is not a good feature for a game. Fiddly rules. Changing up the game with modules is nice, but reading a page of rules twice during the game is not. And the aliens are pretty lackluster, mostly more spots with victory points written on them and some more scoring opportunities with cards and tiles. Really boring! Big stack of singleton cards is nice, but I think in "SETI" the cards are a bit unexciting and same-y. The milestones are implemented in an odd way in "SETI". The scanning seems tedious. Sure, the theme is nice.
How many other channels have multiple people scoring a game individually in the same presentation? Those people also likely didn't exclusively play the game together at the same table. Surely you've seen enough examples where the scores are different, sometimes considerably, that you can chalk it up to coincidence. Buuuut I've not been watching much boardgame stuff recently LOL
It's really a bit suspicious and seems lazy. It's probably because they let only those people make the review that are most interested in and hyped about the game.
@@joeferreti9442I for one wouldn't buy a game I'm not interested in, so why would I need to know what people who are not interested in the game have to say?

This looked exciting to me when it was announced, glad to hear it lives up! Love the theme.
I've had my eye on this since it was announced. Preordered it as soon as it was available to preorder. Waiting for my game!
Pluto is a promo card.
horrible game design decision
It's also a great solo game! I agree that 4 players can drag on when everyone's new to it
Might be the best euro of Essen Spiel 2024. Such a great game.

I guess you live in Germany due to train cancelation 😅
damn it... SETI, Unconscious mind, Speakeasy... i need a bigger brain area for all these heavy games i want.
CGE is just on it these days, they strive to make consistent improvements..very impressive company. now How about that logo 😂

Played it at 4, thought it worked perfectly fine.
Does Tom pronounce Data that way due to being a Trekkie or is it a Floridian thing?
I think both ways are okay? I don't know know why I say it that way, but you can always assume I'm saying the word wrong.
Always pronounced that way here in England

I have that issue with other CGE games as well.

@davidmarowske4243 I stand corrected. Looking again I see the CG on the box and imagined it was CGE. Oops

This game's name is really a misnomer. SETI looks for life outside our solar system.

Don´t get me wrong but this game has a lot of similarities with Stellar Horizons.
Did we give up on player interaction in big releases?
It’s regional dependent 😂
Modern boardgamers do not like lots of player interaction, unfortunately.
I have tons of game with both.

Arcs, andromedas edge, lord of the rings duel for the middle earth, just to name a few. Did we give up on not complaining about non existing issues?
Cant decide if I want this or Black Forrest.
Didn't hear of black forest before, it is now on my wishlist. Thank you!

Pluto.... 🤔

It's a promo card. Quite a good one
sadly only an unbalanced promo card
As usual Dice Tower just routing the hype through
Don’t watch reviews if you can’t handle an opinion different than you own
How can all 3 have the same exact grade? I’m starting to lose faith in Dice Tower reviews
How is that so unbelievable? If all 3 reviewers like the game then there is not much variability to go around if you go by increments of 0,5.
