    Wonderful Case and cast! Thanks a lot!
    At the risk of asking a dumb question, why the Expected traffic
    (vehicles/month) used to calculate the Annual Revenue of the Primary Investment isn't multiplied by 12?
    I must be missing something!

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked it Olivier!
      And honestly, that's a great question, and it's a detail I didn't see until you pointed it out. I honestly didn't even see that the expected traffic figure was a "per month" metric, and if I could redo, I would've clarified with Gottfreid (interviewer) that there was no need to annualize that metric because of the equation given.
      But yea, the reason I can give as to why you didn't need to multiply it by 12 was just because the annual revenue calculation didn't stipulate that you needed to. But still, I should've clarified that before just assuming it.

      @@neelandrohit6490 Thanks N&R. Well, I took for granted that this would be a trick, so roughly put, the results would be shifted by a magnitude order of x10, making the profit close to 250M with a payback of 1Y, so I guessed that I was off in my assumption :)

    Really great video. Thank you for the resource! One quick question. Is it okay to ask for a few seconds before giving insight on a chart or data? Or should I go straight into it and try stalling to get a full sense of the graph while reading out some of the nuance like the chart axis, etc?

    Thank you for the video. I would also include a second option in the framework for our client: Not to go international at all and try other construction businesses in Brazil. eg. Buildings. What do you think?

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although that's a creative take on a potential solution, I would advise you against mentioning that in your framework. The reason is, the client has already told you that they want to diversify from the Brazilian economy, and so you're essentially ignoring what they've already decided + you're asking them to double-down on a risk that they are wishing to avoid

    Hi, thanks for another great video, but shouldn't the "discount rate" take the risk associated with cartels etc. into account?
    Thanks again, I have an interview tomorrow so these videos are really really helpful.

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It potentially could (perhaps is a good question I could've asked the interviewer), but I guess it's not that big of a deal if it does and I bring that up anyway as another factor.
      How'd the interview go? Keep us updated on any news - good or bad!

    • @gotucano
      @gotucano 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question Yash, the discount rate would only incorporate that if you are using the discount rate from a company from that specific market. Usually you’d take the comparable approach which would take that into account.
      How did your interview go?

    • @Yash-qv3bw
      @Yash-qv3bw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neelandrohit6490 Yeah, this is one of those brownie points questions I guess.
      Unfortunately, the interview did not too well.... I was pretty ill-prepared really and couldn't get to the root of the problem quickly enough but I think the final recommendation was fine, overall it wasn't great though.
      Unique experience however as I am more of a finance guy and hadn't really planned of applying to companies outside some very specific roles, maybe I will give consultancy another go with better preparation someday down the line.

    • @Yash-qv3bw
      @Yash-qv3bw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gotucano Thanks, that makes sense.
      About the interview.... as I replied to Neel it didn't go very well, a lack of practice in cases and I think interviewer's doubts about my commitment to the company really tanked my chances.
      Consultancy did feel very..... intriguing to me however while I was preparing so maybe I will try again sometime later.

    Thanks again, Neel and Gottfreid! I have a quick question - Neel, your initial framework delivery took about 4 minutes. Is this considered too long? Is there an optimum duration for walking through the framework?

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question Ishtiaq - I'd definitely say a 4 minute framework delivery is on the long side of things. But honestly, there's no optimum duration - it's really just about how much content you have in your framework. But that being said, I felt comfortable giving such a long framework because I thought everything I was saying was of value and not just me trying to fill time.

    Great Video Man! Immensely helpful!
    I do have a concern. In response to the interjecting question regarding the market size while explaining your framework, does looking at the development budget and the share of it invested on highways historically provide a decent alternative to the method you have shared?

    How do you guys structure and articulate your thoughts so well? It is natural? How do I reach to your level? I really want to improve myself.

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely a lot of practice and some natural talent. I (Neel here) have been actively working on speaking well probably since I was in middle school or high school (so, going on for 10 years now). And I think speaking in general comes a bit naturally to me. For example, even at Bain, I feel quite confident in my public speaking / client speaking abilities.
      And then also, I have a lot of casing experience (going on 3 years now, from both case prepping and also working as an actual consultant). So that will help make articulate my ideas well here.
      As for how to improve yourself, I think a couple things helped me a lot:
      >Observing how other people who thought speak really well speak
      >Put yourself in a lot of positions to practice (lots of public speaking, classes like Toastmasters, etc.)
      I hope this helps! You got this

    Oh and also just remembered:
    - in case it helps for future video related ideas, you could potentially try to make one on the topic of/do's and dont's/guidelines on optimising LinkedIn profile?
    - also, another thing Neel, from your experience, research and/or knowledge. how much of a big, small or medium let's say do you feel the Bain alumni network (and/or equivalent with other consulting firms) is or isn't?
    Apparently in the cosulting industry these alumni networks can be considered really powerful? Not just in terms of potentially helping the consulting firms land more clients/consulting work in future but also in terms of being able to have job board(s) where alumni can post job adverts for recruitment from the pool of current/former consultants all of whom have the metaphorical stamp of approval on their resumes/CVs associated with having consulting firm on their CV?
    Apparently some past and/or former consultants meet eat other at alumni events? E.g. came across this article just now: www.forbes.com/sites/davidburkus/2016/07/05/why-mckinsey-companys-alumni-network-is-crucial-to-its-success/?sh=d4cdd1215804
    Sorry for the longer and clumsier then intended comment - I meant well (it's 4:05am in the UK).
    Raza =)

    • @razabadass
      @razabadass 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also just remembered, sorry for another notification here, I mean well, on the topic of optimisation of a LinkedIn profile, do you feel that it could be better to try to focus on putting down less work experience/volunteering/extra currciular by trying to focus on the main ones or do you feel that it could be okay to include anything and everything work wise? (e.g. I've been doing odd bits and bobs/entry level things over the years in various places with depression problems and various things put a spanner in the works I felt and yeah).
      I get the impression that for the sake of a resume/CV, focusing on situations where you made a bigger more meaingful impact hopefully could be better (e.g. it could help keep things to a summarised one page resume) and that LinkedIn profile (if things are done properly/well) could be good for including more experiences/credentials for in case people/recruiters want to take a look?
      Sorry if things don't properly make sense, feeling clumsey from feelings of brain fog essentially - part of the situation is that I'm feeling ashamed essentially (e.g. I'm 27 now, asking for advice/help feels hard for me in general, even more so if done to someone younger then me, I get the impression that you're younger then 27 e.g. as far as I'm aware, consulting is your first bit of work fresh out of undergraduate and yeah).

  • @razabadass
    @razabadass 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh and also just remembered Neel, can I get to have your viewpoint on the idea of potentially leaving recommendations/reviews on people's LinkedIn profiles? E.g. as a way of trying to say thank you let's say? (e.g. if someone gives you their time on the phone, meets you for coffee and/or over emails to answer some questions to help you with your research e.g. if you're trying to learn about an industry/job/firm and/or trying to help get advice on how to boost your chances of breaking into an industry/job/organisation/do well at an interview etc...).
    I don't know about people on LinkedIn but from my experience in hospitality, those online hotel/restaurant/hostel reviews were considered the be all and end all so to speak on which the entire hospitality industries/jobs/companies have now come to depend on because if the reviews are considered down then a lot of people would just not come into the restaurant/hotel/hostel.
    I get the impression that profile recommendations/reviews on LinkedIn aren't the be all and end all but seem to have the potential to be considered helpful and/or be considered a nice gesture so to speak which could hopefully be appreciated by the person you're trying to give online praise to?
    Essentially what I mean is, what sort of difference if any and/or to what extend LinkedIn profile recomendations/reviews might or might not potentially make to someone? Sorry if this sounds silly, I mean well and feel pretty clueless about the topic of LinkedIn profile specific reviews. I also feel desensitised from depression problems - I get the impression that having someone else's opinion (e.g. you) who seems more clued up about professional/graduate work could help me out here.
    Fingers crossed and thank you for your time again Neel!
    Raza =)
