  • In this case example video, Neel cases Drew (who has an MBB Round 1 interview the very next day). Neel then provides really specific feedback that will help Drew become an A+ caser. Whether you're new to casing or feel really good, there is a lot you can learn from this example!

    Loved the video, anyway you can make a video on interviewing with senior partners for a final/second round interview?

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey George - Neel here. To be honest, there's nothing too much that changes from the casing perspective. But it sounds like a video around the behavioral / non-case portions of interviews and how to handle that given you'll be talk to partners would be helpful?

    • @georgekuz6257
      @georgekuz6257 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@neelandrohit6490 Yeah that’s a better idea. An overview on how to do well in the behavioral section would be helpful.

    Hello! Super useful! I think it would have also been quite useful if you gave a bit of background of who the interviewee is: whether if he is applying to internship/full-time job, his studies, maybe university... Thanks for your work!

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point Carlos! We'll make sure to include that in future videos
      In this case, he was applying for the internship, studies Global Business and International Political Economic, and going to UT Dallas (
      same school I went to)

    Great video folks!
    1 other clarifying questions that i would ask would just be about distribution- how many walmarts? which states? how many kiosk/ walmart?

    Hi Neel, wanted to understand some reasons that distinguish Bain from Mck and BCG. How do you choose between these 3 firms?

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This is Neel here. But if I'm being totally honest, I chose Bain because it was the only firm that chose me haha. But we'll definitely try to make a video at some point discussing the differences between the firms (maybe bringing in friends from each firm)

    Thanks! A quick question: sometimes I realize while prepping the framework that I needed to ask one other clarifying question, is it too late to do it before starting talking about the framework?

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question Lilla! As you probably know, it's best to get all of your clarifying questions out before taking time.
      But if you find yourself needing to ask a question during the framework prep time, ask yourself this question: "Is this question critical to me making the framework?" I would think things like not clearing understanding the client / their products or something critical would warrant you asking the question immediately
      But if it's a smaller detail, perhaps there may be a way you can fit that question into your framework itself. For example, if profitability is a bucket within your framework, once you get to that bucket when overviewing your framework, you could say "And one quick question I wanted to ask as it related to profitability was *insert question*". That way, it doesn't even seem like you "forgot" to ask a question
      At the end of the day tho, asking a question during your framework prep time isn't too big of a deal, and can be made less of a big deal if you ask it smoothly (e.g., don't apologize, don't say "I know I shouldn't be asking questions now, but...").
      Does all this make sense?

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! So ideally you'd ask all the questions before you start the framework. If you think of a question while making the framework, make a judgment call on whether you want to ask it then if it's really important or just save it for when you go through the framework. If you're going to bring it up in the framework though, I would say something like "this is what I would if the answer to this question was X and this is what I would do if the answer to the question is Y".

    Hi Neel. What do you think about a situation where you have personal expertise about the case. In this example he estimated Walmart visitors but what if I exactly know from lets say an Annual Report or I am up to the latest industry trends or i know that 90% of the kiosks fail. Do you recommend to solve it from a conceptual homework type task - like he - or solve it as a consultant who has experience?

    • @jonathanrogers6032
      @jonathanrogers6032 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Aaron. I agree with you! The numbers the consultant came up with weren't concrete and wasn't formulated by actual data or precise measurements. Let's say he didn't have experience in knowing how many people came into his local supermarket, How we estimate how many people came into a Walmart in comparison? I completely agree. He pretty much made up a number in his head with no prior knowledge about the market share or # of Customers who see Super Markets in a day. Usually Cases involve some type of data where the Numeric assumptions are made from.

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Aaron, good question!
      I think you can definitely lean on prior knowledge! I'd use it to inform assumptions or market sizing estimates (For example, if I know the average Walmart / Target gets X number of people / day, I'd use a number around X). However, what you said about 90% of kiosks failing can be tricky. I'd probably tone that down a bit and bring that up as a risk rather than using that data point as a reason they shouldn't do the deal (unless the profit numbers also look really bad)

  • @jasondew1054

    Thank you so much for the video, Neel. It's really helpful for candidates to prepare themselves for the upcoming interviews.
    Just a quick question on the market sizing question. I understand that the final figure does not matter much, but I was just wondering the proposed percentage that you had? He used "0.5%" of customers using the digital photocopying service, in which he backed it up really well.
    However, you did mention that you had a higher figure, so I was wondering what percentage did you use? I personally do also feel that 0.5% might be a tad too low. I think the service might be appealing for younger customers who have a cheaper and more convenient way to print photos when the kiosks are set up. So I'd say 10% sounds reasonable, what do you say?
    1 out of 200 people might sound too pessimistic, I'd say 10 out of 100? or even a 5% would make it sound better(?)

    • @neelandrohit6490
      @neelandrohit6490  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question Jason - I don't remember what % I used if I would have run this case when I was prepping. But if I were to do it now, I'd say maybe 1-2% (translates to 1 or 2 in every 100 people going into a Walmart are there to buy photos). I feel 5 or 10% is quite high because I couldn't imagine walking up to people in Walmart to ask why they are there and finding out that 1 in every 10 people are buying photos - I'd say the overwhelming majority is there to buy groceries and other things like that
      Hope this helps!
