The noise? It’s the cams tapping against the valve spring buckets. This is a pros & cons video of the strengths and weaknesses of the Ka24de in more detail. A couple people asked for a in depth look so I did that for this video. Oh no I didn’t ask yet will do that today.
the reliability comes from the fact that the crank and rods are forged from the factory, the piston heads themselves are the weak link with the ka, single and dual cam
Yea the downside is that the crank is not balanced so you can’t spin it as high. But getting it balanced and upgrading the cams springs and valve will allow you to spin at a much higher rpm. Which is what I’ll be doing on the rebuild. I’m also going to bore it to fit the 90mm pistons!
Was the cam saddle cap bolt, broken,or you just forgot put it in, ,p.s. I have looked up on this Ka24de, it a oil consumption engine, and there are some blogs out there, I have watched a few , but I’m not keep it retanded, as my memory is not there anymore, ok thanks BigAl California
If my memory serves right one of them stretched passed the recommended specs for the bolt and I ended up chancing it without the bolt. So my noise is from the cam to bucket clearance on the lobes that are darker. I’ve order valve shims that go under the bucket to tighten up that clearance. That video will be up once those come in! And yes they are oil consumption motors if they are higher mileage. This engine was a swap out of a lower mileage s14 (60,000 miles on the engine)
What did you find out , I’m in the beginning on this vlog , good to be safe, thanks BigAl California, did shano seen the b d message, thanks

Just seen them. Thank you for the birthday wishes!
