People forget that Ruthie is also a great actress. She plays this hard woman excellently. Remember, Velma was NOT a nice a woman. Hard as nails... Ruthie does one of the best in my opinion..
Without taking anything away from how wonderful Ruthie is, my favorite part of this video may be seeing the late, great Darlene Wilson dancing in the ensemble. The revival never saw a better Hunyak. Broadway lost her way too soon.
There is a male dancer on her immediate right (our left) ; he did this role for years, I believe, dark hair, longish, fantastic dancer. Anyone know who he is? Did he do any other roles? Thanks!

I think the vocal range for Velma is rather too low for Ruthie. I like her but her singing has an almost "yawning" sound to it.
