The amount of talent she had still blows my mind. Some ppl just transcend limitations. Her abilities were powerful. She had charm, charisma, grace, & star power. I can watch her for hours. She & Fosse were the dynamic duo Imo.
And before that was Gwen Verdon who passed a lot to Ann and Jack Cole the father Jazz & Gwen was his assistant and it rubbed off on fosse who created his own style - an incredible mix of talent
I'm still in shock & devastated that she's gone. I idolized her since I saw her as Grace Farrell in the movie, Annie. I wish I had the fortune to at least see her perform live in person; much less share the stage with her! I may be a nurse by trade, but thanks to Ann, she encourages me by example, to keep singing & dancing for the rest of my life. RIP to my Broadway Queen Ann 😢
When I was a young Dancer in the 7O I saw everything she did from Pippin on, I thought she was the Dancers dancer and those legs!!!!!! She was amazing and could do no wrong in my mind! I adored her and tried to see everything she was in. She did not only do Fosse Shows but took over Cassie from Chorus line from Donna Macecknie A Michael Bennett show. Did a show called Over Here with the Andrews Sisters cant remember the Choriographer but she and John Mineo did a killer swing number that tore the house up every night. Good Time Charlie with Joel Grey was a Flop and then back to Fosse with Dancin which sadly was a Dance hard show and I saw it several times and it seemed sometimes it was tight and sometimes some of the cast just walked thru it or got sloppy. Of course She was great in it, The Movie "All that Jazz " every body who danced in New York worked on it as far as the audition scenes and the end scenes were shot out at Silvercup Studios or one of the other studio,s I get confused, I know she took over for Debbie Allen on a revival of Sweet Charity which i didnt see and then I didnt see her for a while after she did some stuff on the west coast and went to have a private life untill she came back for a revival of Chicago with Bebe Neuworth. She also did the staging and the Choriography as Fosse would of done it and its been playing 20 some odd years so thats a NICE monthly paycheck! not to mention rours and playing in the west end. I know she now lives in Arizona and I am not the only person who looked up to her as an influnce. She's amazing. Thats all! AND what a perfect person to carry on the Fosse Legacy>
You can see why Ann Reinking, Gwen Verdon, and Liza Minelli were Fosse's favorite leading ladies. They have the fluidity to perfectly translate his choreography into true art.
Saw her perform as Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of "Chicago" when it came to the Muny in St. Louis in 1977. The minute she came onstage I could not take my eyes off of her. Was a mile away from her in that vast open-air theatre and still can remember those big eyes in disbelief when Casley was walking out of her. It was only the beginning of a super-charged performance. She was absolutely amazing.
I think I first saw her in "Over Here" where she was either in the chorus or had a small part, but I left the theatre thinking only of her. You just knew that this was a STAR!
I saw her in the 1996 revival of "Chicago" on Broadway. She was divine. Every move, every note, every expression was perfection. I'll never forget it. I love Ann! Plus, she's only two years younger than I am!
Love Ann...she came to Pacific Northwest Ballet...and worked with the dancers there. Several other choreographers were also there...Much fun...I worked with her in the studio (at the piano!)...
@toobusywriting It's just for the special. The original is so simple, but it looks soooo cool. Ann Reinking. With her hair up she looks soooo, autoritive or reserved and conservative, but with her hair down she is sooo sexy. I noticed this with Annie too. She is the prim secretay untill she puts her hair down in "Let's go to the movies" and you realize that she is so strikingly beautiful.
IT WAS POLITICAL oh my... I think CZJ did a magnificent job! Better than most of the girls as Velma in the past. She made the character her own and translated it wonderfully from stage to film.
Thanks for everything Ann. Fosse is well, just Fosse...I’m sorry that you have left us too soon, but the ensuing journey through all things Fosse has brightened up an awful year. You were all class girl, the shot in the arm we need. Sleep peacefully ( or if heaven’s funnier than we think.find that spot where the gin is cold and the piana’s hot, and shimmy, shimmy, shake! 💃
Back in the early 80's I sold a VCR to a very nice lady. As I got to know her she asked if I'd ever seen All that Jazz. I hadn't and admitted I did not know who she was. Anyway, it was Ann.
Robs OnBass What was she like? This understated pure Fosse version of All That Jazz doesn't really do her justice, but I've never seen a better dancer. In the 80s she was in her glory in Annie, watching her play Grace in that movie made me want to be her when I grew up. Of course, as a kid I didn't understand, I think I wanted to be 'Grace' not 'Ann' =)
Quite the sexiest dancer I have ever witnessed ...just shading Juliet Prowse. I'd like to satisfy a long held ambition and meet up with her - just to tell her how much I have been captivated by her since seeing "All That Jazz". She's a genius.
She is one of the sexiest women I have ever seen. This is the first time I have seen this video but am adding it to my favorites, along with the "We've Got Annie" number from 1982.
Always perfection. But, why, please tell me why, when dance is filmed for either tv or film the camera zooms in for so many close-ups, especially when a dancer (s) start to move. The golden age of film, MGM musicals in particular, knew how to showcase dance so we saw the thrill of the movement. It's been many decades since dance has been properly filmed. Even The Tony Awards get it wrong.
LouC OMG. Yes. IF you want to see a real atrocity - look at the film Moulin Rouge. I kept wanting to actually see the dancing, but the director had other ideas.
Heck yes! Even TV shows which are specifically dance based (I'm looking at you Strictly Come Dancing) are all facial close-ups. I want to see the *dancing* not be able to assess whether someone needs to trim their nose hair!
Ann is beyond perfection!! I feel like she was born to sing Kander and Ebb and dance Bob Fosse, shame they didn't stick to his coreography in this. Hers is one my favorite renditions of this song, and believe me I've heard them all!!
She re-choreographed this number and almost others in Chicago for the 1990s (and continuing) revival. She did it in the style of Bob Fosse, but she vastly improved upon this.
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! I was first introduced to Ann in 1979 when I saw "All That Jazz". She spoiled me. I never dated a short legged girl again. Married a very long legged redhead (considering Gwen was a redhead would there be any other for me?). This is a great rare clip and I am so happy you posted it.
Miss Reinking is (was) a GREAT AND BRILLIANT DANCER!... Of course, she worked with Mr. Fosse who, althoug a great woomanizer, WAS A GREAT, GREAT DANCER and CHOREOGRAPHER!...A REAL BEAUTY!...
Almost unbelievable level of talent. Rest in peace Ann - you were superb.
she made this look so simple and natural, yet you realize this is a dancer's dancer, BRAVO!
BRAVA !!! I 😉
The amount of talent she had still blows my mind. Some ppl just transcend limitations. Her abilities were powerful. She had charm, charisma, grace, & star power. I can watch her for hours. She & Fosse were the dynamic duo Imo.

She made it look so effortless. She just glided through the choreography like a bird through the air.
One of the greatest dancers of the 20th century.
She doesn’t dance it - she feels it in her soul. The best of the best.
RIP Ann one of the greatest ever! 😥😥😥😥
She is a once in a lifetime talent, a triple threat, 100 times over. I find her so completely inspiring. Go Anne!
She was a goddess of dance. RIP Ms. Reinking.
Brava, Ann, we miss you so. Thank you for everything 💜
She was at the top of the dancers world. Brilliant performances, always! Love her!
RIP to this LEGEND!! ♥️
Love watching her! So talented and just mesmerizing!

Yes yes

Pp
yes!!! Completely agree...the movie was great but it needed Fosse's choice for Velma...Madonna. Catherine was good not great as was Rene as Roxy.
I’m not sure she was Fosse’s choice
@@MrKomninakis Don't know about Madonna but I will say that Renee Zellweger was way better than Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Ann was Magnificent.
I've never seen better than Reinking; she seems to be almost perfect in her movements.
Ann was an original. Her dancing is eternal.
Ann Reinking is a real legend... 🤩🏆✨
She has such controlled fluidity! Brilliant!
Roger Davis--She was mentored by the master, Bob Fosse..
She knows the nuances..
e. g. -0:36
jazz fingers, NOT jazz hands
She was a genuine treasure, glad someone remembers!
She was just sublime. Greatest dancer I’ve ever seen.
Grace and astonishing fluidity, personified. She was indeed a Great dancer-performer.

Sexy too!
She was so unbelievable. One of the all time greats - a true natural
Incredible ❤
Ann Reinking encapsulates the Heart Beat and Soul Beat of Fose's Vision
I love Ann Reinking and am sorry to many will never have heard of her...
She was AMAZING; what a great talent and legacy 👏👏👏
I adore Ann Reinking

love love this - can she dance or what?
her singing is so fab - i keep repeating myself. i think it’s time to go the EF to sleep.
So very Bob Fosse. Wonderful.
Wish they would remaster this, great dancer!
Love Ann...she came to Pacific Northwest Ballet...and worked with the dancers there. Several other choreographers were also there...Much fun...I worked with her in the studio (at the piano!)...
The very BEST rendition!!!!
@toobusywriting It's just for the special. The original is so simple, but it looks soooo cool. Ann Reinking. Such a dream to watch. I am so terribly sad because of her passing. What a bright, bright light!
Wow. Never saw this clip. She was an amazing dancer.
BREATHTAKING!...
she was everything Fosse
I've seen this live 4 times and unfortunately not with her. She is the BEST. She had Fosses' style down pat!. NO one can out dance her!
Love it !!! She is Brilliant!
Amazing how she makes it look so easy!
she is just stunning
She was an amazing performer
Maravillosa!!
IT WAS POLITICAL oh my... I think CZJ did a magnificent job! Better than most of the girls as Velma in the past. She made the character her own and translated it wonderfully from stage to film.
Ann Reinking is magic.
This is the first video of her that I saw. Mesmerized right away. Rest in peace Anne :(
PERFECTION!!!!

She was a very nice lady. It's all I can remember - my general perception, which is highly positive.
The choreography in this clip isn’t Fosse
Ian Smith
Interesting considering he did do the choreography for Chicago. Google it.
@@dozzer009 yes he did, but that is not the choreography from the show
She's so amazing. Thanks for posting

We've Got Annie is the best!
Cyd Charisse wasn't too bad, either.
Loved this movie!
I love this so much.

That's a very good point.
She was awesome!
Shine on Ann Reinking, shine on....aloha

Good to be able to see all the different renditions by different artists over time.
nobody moves like this lady.
she was more than a national treasure . . .
She was in Annie. That's where I know her from!
There is no better that understood and could do Fosse than this lady!!!! Meant for each other!
She’s so stunning I can’t effing stand it,
WONDERFUL!

a great dancer and actress gone way way too soon rip ann.
She re-choreographed this number and almost others in Chicago for the 1990s (and continuing) revival. She did it in the style of Bob Fosse, but she vastly improved upon this.
Legs that go from here to there...and back again.
Class act.

Bob Fosse was such a genius!
jan braham was this Fosses original version. I really like another much better. Ann is great but the dance-not so much.
Miss Reinking is (was) a GREAT AND BRILLIANT DANCER!... Of course, she worked with Mr. Fosse who, althoug a great woomanizer, WAS A GREAT, GREAT DANCER and CHOREOGRAPHER!...A REAL BEAUTY!...
