I like that this has monitor has a single refresh (fast), that you can set and forget. Thanks for sharing that, I have been looking for a confirmation on that. I'm currently looking at this vs the PG328Q.
Great review! The thing with this Monitor and why it´s a bit more pricy, is that it is in fact G-sync compatible. I tried a Monitor with "freesync" but I got Screentearing, ugly stutters and other stuff. Turning it Off made me realize, that with newer GPU´s like the 3070 I would have to deal with G-sync compatibility and If you´re looking for a Monitor with 2K, over 120Hz, with "HDR" AND G-Sync you will unfortunately don´t get a cheaper Monitor.
a couple of reviews measured almost 1000:1 as contrast ratio. I wonder if your low contrast ratio was due to local dimming being on (it does not work properly). it's a massive difference in measurement.
the 32GP850 is nothing more than an updated in monitor OSD and is slightly faster version of the LG 32GL850. I owned the LG 27GL850 and this is worlds better, color tones are so much more alive and contrast ratio is far better than LG's Nano displays. Using the oldest firmware version I ever recieved 030 monitor production dated July 2021 purchased December 2021 and his version is 028 even older... have no clue the differences, especially considering there is now 037 firmware dated May 2022. This monitor is faster than the M32Q which suffers from slightly slow dark tone performance, contrast ratio is simular. If you use KVM and you receive this MSI monitor without updated firmware the M32Q has better KVM support. The Quantuim dot tech should make color tones pop more after you take this monitor out of the horrid "eco mode" abd place it into Adobe RGB mode.
This monitor should be better (sharpnes wise) comapred to Gigabyte M32Q. GB M32Q - Pixel Pitch 0.311mm, while this one have pixel pitch of 0.276 mm. In theory lower is better. P.S. I don't own either of them.
First one I got had a stuck pixel. Got a replacement from newegg with no questions asked. The replacement developed a stuck pixel a year and a half later... I love the monitor, but damn, quality issues with the stuck pixels.
I got mine for about $400usd on sale on Amazon around 6 months ago. This is my first "high-end" monitor, so I've been very happy with it. My SFF pc can only fit a 3060ti, so 175hz is a nice realistic peak. Even with mini itx aero cards to come in the future, 175 should still be a reasonable peak as I turn graphics settings higher. I've enjoyed mine, and my mom visited and was blown away by the color she said. I think 32" is an excellent monitor size too, much better than the 24" 60hz I was running before!
@@LexDreyer I went with the MPG321QRF-QD. It's been great so far. No complaints. Seemingly good build quality as it feels sturdy and not cheap. No dead pixels so far. The HDR is pretty mid, but that's to be expected at only 600 nits. I don't even bother using it.

Can't believe this monitor has jumped in price by £200 since August, just when I want to buy one. Refuse to get it until its back below 500, hopefully around Black Friday time. In terms of features, colour and HDR this beats the Giga M32Q and LG 32GP850 hands down so don't totally agree with your conclusion, it's worth the little bit extra.
Any chance you could start including the minimum brightness spec in your reviews? As a chronic migraine sufferer it would be immensely helpful and greatly appreciated.
028 Firmware version? Why didn't you update to do a new review? Some things have been updated, even my monitor I purchased Decmeber 2021 was firmware 030 and mt current model is 031 and the newest is 037. *UPDATE* your firmware, change to Adobe RBG mode and if using Nvidia graphics change your gamma to 1.1 cause I promise you'll suddenly be WOW this looks good. However get the newest OSD software installed before even attempting so you don't brick your monitor. In my review testing I also found 175Hz does not give a full refresh, I made a customer 170Hz which does give a full clean frame ;)
@Dooms David Machine gigabyte isn't bad, they tend to be an overall good choice that doesn't feel like a beta test release. This MSI I feel is faster than the Gigabyte M32Q at least in dark transitions but MSI released this expensive thing as a somewhat buggy mess. Almost finished my firmware update 037 review. BIG improvements for gamers for certain features. I have an MSI B550 Gaming Edge ITX motherboard, the RTX3070 Gaming Trio without issue but they certainly do not know how to make the monitor firmware updating work correctly. With the Gaming Intelligence OSD replacing the Gaming OSD after 2 previously killed firmware updated monitors finally got one working. Love the monitor especially with the updates but this is not the best option for non 120hz console gamers or 4K use. 60hz / 60fps with consoles confirmed from a console user has image retention issues. Notified MSI support back in December and January but they never updated the pixel algorithm to fix this.
@Dooms David Machine not all MSI products are expensive mind you. The MSI MAG322CQR is fairly affordable and impressive as a monitor for gaming while being a VA type. If night vision is turned to normal it transitions black levels a lot faster than set to off. The MSI MAG301CR2 is also cheap for a 200hz monitor which is also reviewed but the dark transitions are BAD and 60 is just outright not usable for gaming if the game isn't bright. One of my best gaming monitor experiences with it just works with LG monitors. Haven't tested any Gigabyte monitors personally. But I almost got a Gigabyte because they have much better contrast than LG Nano display monitors. HDR is a million times better looking with the 037 update. I have one thing left to test after I am off my full time job... If there are improvements to the KVM control.
@Dooms David Machine thank you David. And I agree, there should at least be a dual bios or something for this kind of money. the only difference on the new monitor is it was firmware 031 and I factory reset in the monitor menu and I installed Gaming intelligence OSD. Not sure what worked, in the MSI forum someone asked if I factory reset before I flashed the monitor so that is what I tried on this 3rd attempt. If it failed again I really would have been really really mad. My Walmart purchased LG 165hz VA panel was painfully bad in comparison. And MSI's expensive motherboard I used their windows bios update software and it bricked the motherboard 2 for 2 but at least it has a bios flashback button to fix a bad flash. They also didn't install a bios reset button and had to remove the motherboard to reset the bios and remove the IO shield to do so... Until MSI released a bios update to use the power button as a bios reset. They are a bit like EA games. Releasing products without being properly tested first.
@Dooms David Machine no just if I want to be honest saying good and the bad and pose solutions I have to fight through everything... It's an obsession lol. But when you point out negatives as a reviewer I get more thumbs down... Maybe by the company themselves... TH-cam doesn't share videos with a thumbs down... Meaning it pays for companies to screw honest reviewers. And the only way around it is to have enough followers and viewers to give you a thumbs up to get past that.
@Dooms David Machine your right the P3 has more red tone... I went back to prefer P3 BUT the new 037 mode is awesome and I use this other mode that was added, it has extra color saturation. The video is done but I need to make a thumbnail for it. And I am still working 10 hours everyday for another week... Already worked an entire week without a day off. With 030 you'll have adaptive sync flicker issues that make it seem like the game is changing brightness a little too fast on high contrast scenes. Also HDR has a fix that makes it work far far better if HDR matters to you. I have instructions on what I did if you want to see if you missed anything.
I got this monitor this week and to be honest, love it so far. Although monitor 1 when arrived, I updated the firmware and it bricked it, so had to RMA. Luckily Currys were quick to react so had the new one within 4 days. Now I dare not update the firmware is the main issue :(
Yeah MSI firmware bricked my monitor twice. There is a new gaming intellegence OSD with "imporoved firmware update experience" but is it flawless now? I don't want to chance that.
