Best gift guide I've seen! We have a friend who doesn't need or want anymore clutter and buys anything she needs herself. She volunteers at the Humane Society so are going to buy her a basket of items she can bring to donate. She still will have something to open Christmas day and will have the fun of bringing it in to share herself. It's a fun twist on donating in someone's name and it feels really personal.
I asked for a dryvac for my birthday. I was so happy when I received it! The person who gifted it thought I was crazy, but I love practical gifts! This year I want a small shed for my backyard to get the lawnmower off the porch (no garage ☹) Those are gifts that keep giving all year 😊
Seasoil is fish and I think composted wood bits. I'm all about practical gifts. My husband got SO much flak from his coworkers when he gave me a Kitchenaid stand mixer for my 23rd birthday, but I was thrilled! Twelve years and one repair later, it's still going strong.
A few years ago for an office Secret Santa gift, I got a (clearly re-gifted) face cream set. I have very temperamental skin so I kept it under my bathroom sink for like a year. But then one day I ran out of my face hydrator and I was like - OH DAMN - so I decided to take a chance and break into that face cream set. It's called By Nature, from New Zealand. And Imma tell you - it changed my life! It is THE BEST FACE CREAM! That person will never know how they changed my entire face lol.
I love thoughtful and special gifts. My all time favourite that we have giving was to my partners sister and brothers children. All six kids, then age 5-18 got a guided tour at a observatory from us. I booked the whole place , they could bring a friend and their parents. We had some snacks and tea, had a short joyful lecture about universe and watched the stars. I payed about 50 dollar for a giftcard (for all of us) to visit the Observatory + about 20 dollar for snacks. We usually give each kids a christmas gift for about 25 dollar and I don´t think they appreciate those as much as this special night.
I like the idea of giving homemade Christmas ornaments - I've done that a few times. Baking and candy - always a hit. Last year I put together small gift baskets for everybody. I got these cute little gift baskets that you could use for storage, and filled them with chocolates, tea samplers, spiced salt & meat rub samplers, homemade ornaments, and something else I can't remember - but also consumable. They went over great! I would love to get something like that :)
thanks! I have been stressing about this and you have given me some great ideas! many are also small gifts that wouldn't break the bank. I feel really encouraged! thanks again!
I have shopped this season differently for example My son in law is very minimal as I am, so I bought him as one of his gifts a gift certificate to play golf, He loves to cook so I made him a huge basket filled with seasonings, pasta, a very good olive oil , balsamic vinegar and a note inside of the basket informing him he will be going home with my homemade meatballs and sausage ( his favorite ) The rest of my family, I did same type of gifts, all experiences and things they would want , but won’t buy for themselves..
One of the best homemade gifts I got for my customer of mine was just a simple seven dollar mini crockpot with a bag of chips a canna rotelle and a small block of cheese… It was freaking awesome I had it melted and plugged in and picked out for dinner that night!! Thought it was such a great idea… :-)
I think the real key is to give gifts that the other person would enjoy and use. Last Christmas I gave my SIL a 6 month coffee subscription. She liked the coffee so much she tracked down where to buy it locally. I love receiving annual memberships to our local zoo, aquarium, and museums. Our favorite gift in recent years was a 6 month subscription to Universal Yums (snack food from around the world). My kids loved it so much we bought a subscription when the gifted one ran out. PSA: Do not give teenagers towels. (My mother-in-law learned that one the hard way.) lol!
Hey Noni, I just use these products: I wash with Aveda Sap moss shampoo and conditioner. Suave conditioner as a leave-in, Pantene mousse and then Aussie headstrong gel :) I use a lot of techniques that Curly Susie uses
Thank you! You gave me an idea. I need two dozen gingerbread cookies for a Hanukkah cookie exchange. The recipe makes three dozen. I think what I will do with some of the cookies. I can give them to our postal carrier along with a gift card for coffee to go with it at Starbucks
I personally enjoy not receiving anything but if so then I like coffee grounds, coupon for massage, restaurant coupons, time spent together, sometimes books, travels together, tickets to theatre, cinema.
I don’t know if you have edible arrangements there. But I get that for my parents all the birthdays , holidays etc. it’s fruit btw. Not cheap and nice.
Hi, new to your channel and enjoying it, thank you. Kinda off topic but since you mentioned hair products, what do you use to keep your curls uunder control?
My EX husband once bought me an iron for Christmas in my 20’s 😳 I’ve bought all my extra people fancy coffee/ tea and biscuits from winners that I’m wrapping up in a tea towel.
I appreciate the video. However, a lot of people, such as myself are allergic to fragrance. Scented body products, bath bombs, soaps, and candles are not good gifts for us. I've been given scented products that I immediately re-gifted.
Not the neutering thing unless you have been begged to take an animal. No personal products because, they might not use because of skin sensitive but, if you know that of the person you might also know what they do use. Food like your mom bought for your husband for my husband Yes, not at all for me. Some people are hard to purchase things for, they themselves often purchase things they think they might like and then the don't.
@@MinimalistHome letters or something that I have personally requested or something that I have not replaced because of time that, one knows I used alot. I know a wand that keeps tabs on were everything is and brings things out and puts them away. Hahaha. Everyone wants one of those magical wands.
We just had a birthday party for my granddaughter's first birthday. She already has so much "stuff". So, on the invitation we asked that instead of a gift we would appreciate a donation to our favorite charity (cat sanctuary) in our granddaughters name. They have had to cancel their last 3 charity events (merry meows (last christmas and this christmas) and the kitten shower in the spring due to Covid. Those events bring in the most funds to cover their expenses for the year. They have lost so much. That's just an example of non-clutter, generous gifts, for occasions. If you're not into animals, you can make a donation to "Tunnels to Towers" in someone's name. I love donations in someone's name. It's such a meaningful gift that helps someone else.
Hahaha what a difference it is to need pepper spray for bears and cougars rather than the usual tweakers and violent offenders wonder through my neighborhood.

Love practical gifts!! This year is new bed linens, fluffy bath towels & a nice sketch pad! Love bird watching...☺
Those sound great!
Possibly offer to help decorate and take down for someone who struggles with the task as a gift
This is such a great idea Victoria!

Great ideas! Tickets to a musical with my sister would be so cool! ...I’m going to look into that. Thanks Robyn 😊
That would be fun wouldn't it!
My man got me a new shop vac and dwalt tools! Was amazing gifts! I've used all year!
Yes!! I love useful things!! Sorry for the late reply!

It WOULD be fun to have coffee with TWO Colettes!

haha, not, don't give teens towels!! Haha
Thank you for the Universal Yums idea! I’m doing it for two sets of nephews/nieces (pre-teens).
Your hair is divine. I wish I had my curls under control like that. Any secrets you would like to pass on?

I do time with the kids. I pick a projects, buy the materials and dedicate a day to doing with them after holiday. Like making stepping stones
That sounds so special Victoria!

Haha! I got that!! Thanks so much!
My mom gives us our yearly Costco membership, which we love!

this was v useful!

Love the tea towel wrapping!
I’m doing a bunch of coupons for my husband for massages.
If someone gives me coupon for free thai massage Or any other I would love him/her forever 😁 this is the best gift.
Love this!
Honestly, I wouldn't want any of these things unless there's a story behind it, or it's an experience shared with the giver.
Yes, I love shared experiences!
@@MinimalistHome Totally! More memories, less stuff
This year I'm doing gift cards to movie theater, massages, pedis. None of my adult children need more stuff.
Yay!! Great gifts!

Yes, it is good to know who you are buying for and if they can handle scents for sure!
🙋 me too
PS how does one have Too Many Avocados? 😳😏
Cash
Yes!
I wouldn’t even do gift cards. Cash is best. They can spend it wherever they’d like to.
