      The former LAPD police gang unit acronym CRASH stood for Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums!

  • @blkstang4830

    So LAPD has patches for Officers assigned to traffic divisions. There are patches for units when they wear bdu’s.
    Patrol does not wear patches and that goes back to the start of LAPD. I was once told LAPD doesn’t need patches, because if you didn’t know who they’re when they got there, you did when they left haha 😂

    I grew up in South Central, Los Angeles in the 80's. CRASH was a shit unit and is a major factor in the horrible community/police relationship. They treated EVERYONE in the community like we were all gangbangers. As a black person, being called a "N*gger" is of course very disrespectful. But I'll NEVER forget the second time I was called that - Because it wAs by a CRASH Officer. I was only 11-12 years old walking home from school.

At first they came at us hard, it took them a while to settle in and figure out that this gangster life was 24/7. See we live in the jungle’s they were just passing bye. I know for a fact that some of the CRASH officers put there kids through college thanks in part by the generous contributions a lot of us made (unwilling). You guys probably found out by now that they don't wear patches because of tradition. Some units do wear patches though (SWAT, Metro Div, Traffic, K9, etc). I think either wear two patches or none. Wearing only one patch like Oakland does, is just geigh.

    • @charles1203

      I know one thing I don’t live there and I know to this day LAPD don’t use a mic on their radio they straight up just talk on their radio. I notice LAPD wear their vests on the inside most wear it on the outside now. LAPD use green tazers when most use a yellow one. I see LAPD some officers carry a night stick baton when most do carry the collapsible baton.

  • @Liberty-rn4wy

    Back in the 1980s LAPD had .38 revolvers. Obviously that changed. They would have 22-round Glocks today.

    • @charles1203
      @charles1203 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      First it was the six shooter revolver then it went to the 9mm berreta. Why they called it a service revolver or police issue berreta. Today they have that Glock and I’ll tell you some cops have a flashlight on their pistol and a holographic aim on it. I know a lot of old school retired police officers can’t stand police today saying it was worse back then and all they had was a revolver, baton, and pepper spray and they still do the job. Now they have the tazer and AR-15 which they use for everything.

    When you get put on, the idea is not to get your ass kicked, or let them kick your ass. The idea is to see if you'll fight back and stand up for yourself. Fight back efficiently and you don't get your ass kicked, you kick ass. Different gangs have different "put-on" procedures.
