  • In this video I'll be showing you how to make very simple 3D duplicates using the Creality CR Scan Ferret. This scanner is very simple to use and creates near perfect scans and replicas. You are able to scan small or large objects, people, faces and much more. It is compatible with an Android phone for on the go, however, it currently does not support iPhone. This does scan the object at full size but you can easily scale down the object to suit your needs. I tested this creality scanner on a statue I had and then 3D printed the model on my 3D printer. Hey everyone, I hope you’re all having a great week so far. Let me know if there’s something you want me to scan and cast in metal as this scanner works great. I’ve only used scanners through an app and this is by far easier to use and faster. Have a great rest of the week and I’ll see you all in the next one 👍🏻

    I like your videos. My problem with things like the scanner is not being able to afford nearly $400 for the scanner.
    I would like there to be some sort of club or group where we could rent a scanner like that. Rent it by the week or something similar.
    All mailings could be by fed express or some other way to get it back and forth overnight
    It's just me thinking out loud.

    "A little pricey"?!?! Maybe compared to an app for your phone's camera, but compared to other dedicated scanner's; price, quailty(scan & hardware), and usability it is amazing! It easily works as well, if not better than $600 scanners of just a couple years ago and they don't ha e the cool phone holder and battery pack handle/tripod. It's a little more manual than some other more expensive units, but Creality seems to focus more on quailty hardware at affordable prices and less on user friendliness. Mainly because the .ore you try to improve that, the less versatile a device becomes. Apple products are an excellent example. They can be powerful and are extremely user friendly foe those that do not care to or have not llyet learned how to use a computer very well(make customizations etc), but it also limits what you can do with the hardware and even applications on it. Meanwhile a DIY PC can be made to do any number of things IF you are willing/capable of making it do so. Their printers are like that. Allowing an entry level $200ish Ender 3 V2 eventually capable of working as well as a $1000+ printer with only a few hundred dollars worth of hardware if that and some time adjusting firmware and fitting the new hardware. Since you mentioned only using an Iphone app for scanning in the past, I guess you haven't had any experience to compare to, but asking for such capabilities for under $200 is a bit much especially when it's $350ish price tag is already a really good price for what it is capable of doing. I highly recommend getting one and just ordering it directly from Creality's site rather than Amazon. It's actually just as much if not a little cheaper with a coupon and everything I have ordered from them shows up in only a few days. Just as fast if not faster than Amazon....plus they don't get part of their profit. I really appreciate Creality's work over the years and without them, I would not be able to do what I have been able to in the 3d printing/scanning "world". Be safe out there y'all and don't blow yourself up playing with fireworks!🇺🇸🎇🧨🎆🔥😱🔥🧯💨

    Definitely want to see it cast into Nordic Gold!! I thought you would have used Blender to cut it in half (top to bottom) for ease of moulding in the sand. I hadn't considered using the "lost wax" method. Nice work!

    can you reposition the model and scan the bottom like the revopoint scanner?

    • @ArtByAdrock
      @ArtByAdrock  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but I found it’s not as easy as the revopoint. It seems like it picked up more background objects which threw off the positioning a little.

    can you show how you cleaned up everything and did things like fixed the eye or the shirt in blender? I'm new to a lot of the 3D printing and would love to understand more.

      Are you familiar with Blender at all?

    • @97JoMiller
      @97JoMiller ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArtByAdrock nope, not until I saw this video. I've been using Fusion 360, but this looked a lot easier to smooth things out and frankly I'm just looking for the easiest tool to accomplish what I want to do, that's why I'm asking the questions.

    • @ArtByAdrock
      @ArtByAdrock  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blender is fairly easy and it’s free. Download it, import the .stl and go into sculpt mode. You can click on the smooth brush on the left to smooth things out. There’s a ton of other brushes as well to help with sculpting. I’d recommend just watching a beginner tutorial on how to navigate everything and the controls but it’s really not the hard especially for simple things. Keep in mind though that you may have to remesh the model if you have a low number of polygons to begin with. In this video the model was already pretty high so that was unnecessary. Hope that helps a little bit.

    Rather than moving it to the edge of the table could you lay the model down instead?

    Think there is any way to make a model of that Adin Hill save from game 1 on saturday? That would look awfully nice in aluminum bronze!
    Just found your channel, im in vegas too and just started casting. I definitly need to buy some of your coin molds! Any way to purchase them locally? Or is the best way through your web site?

    • @ArtByAdrock
      @ArtByAdrock  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For something like that, you would need a reference image and probably just sculpt it from scratch but that would be pretty awesome! The best way to purchase them is just through the website. If you want something custom as well just contact me through the site and I’m sure I can get it made. 👍🏻
