    • @Altherot
      @Altherot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      They were also pretty complex and dramatic in ways they will probably never be in MCU. I love MCU and both Tony and Cap had amazing character development, but there is just something so real and gritty about Charles and Erik that does not even feel comic booky. It feels pretty real, like from a real psychological drama. Because there is darker and complex side to both of them, carried through absolutely amazing and once in a life time actors for both the young and old generation.
      The expectations from next Magneto and Profesor X are gonna be unbeatable in MCU's portrayal. You simply cannot overthrone such powerful and very personal/emotional performance Michael put into it. He lived through the character, he is living his characters as much as Joaquin Phoenix, on a whole different level than RDJ or Chris Evans. Again, not to take from their performance, but Michael is just so REAL, while you always felt that Cap and Tony come from a comic book, even if they were complex and reletable.

      @@musiclikerperson You keep copy pasting this response through the comments section. As for your arguments on him being genocidal he isn't really. He is only wanting what is best for his kind and throughout his long life he has only seen his kind subjugated, discriminated and abused. He tried again and again to advocate for mutant rights like Charles but unlike Charles he is more realistic in his thinking. While Charles sees the good in people and hopes for peace he ignores the fact humans will fight what is different or what they're afraid of. Erik sees this fact for what is it and after trying for so long and losing so much through humanitys cruelty (including his own family) he sought action the only way humans would recognize, knowing full well Charles would oppose him every step of the way. Even as an enemy Erik cared deeply about Charles as he was a brother to him.
      Yes he is emotional but all his experiences in life have been rooted in pain and cruelty. No one is born a monster, they are made into them and while you keep spouting the rhetoric about him being genocidal you forget humanity did it to him first on 2 separate occasions; the genocide of his parents and people during the Jewish purges in Poland in WW2 and again when he was a mutant.
      Deep down Erik only wants what is best for his people and although his methods aren't the best thought out it's what he believes is right and reacts to situations accordingly. If humanity wasn't so discriminating and cruel to mutantkind and actually treated them as equals Erik wouldn't have needed to walk the path he took. He is only as bad as the douchebag humans who try to harm/kill mutants in which he reacts accordingly.

    "Killing Shaw won't bring you peace." Oh, Charles, he knows that! It's not about peace, it's about closure, killing the last of those responsible for his family's deaths. Erik has faced humanity's darkness and knows that sometimes one MUST fight in order to stop the darkness. Because sometimes, one good deed is enough to condemn a man to death simply for being different. Because those in power won't back down until they are faced with your own power and are FORCED to back down.

    Here’s the thing about both castings for Magneto: both performances were PHENOMENAL. But. I will always prefer Michael Fassbender’s portrayal because as great as Ian Mckellan is, we weren’t given as many human moments with him. To me he was basically just a stubborn old, albeit powerful, man who wouldn’t accept humanity. Fassbender on the other hand? He saw the extent of his trauma and loss. We saw his growth and his faults and a bit more of what happened to him in the holocaust. When I think of his best moments of the franchise, I think of 3: when he was fighting those 3 guys in Argentina in First Class, When he turned the satellite dish in First Class, and losing his family in Apocalypse. Those were the 3 moments where the star that is Michael Fassbender shined brightest

      I hope not, but there is a good possibility I (and most people) would given his circumstances. Wouldn't make us any less evil. The excuse of "he had a bad life and was betrayed" applies to all sort of evil people throughout history, their traumas and pain don't excuse their actions. Hitler lived a more tragic and painful life during his first 30 years on Earth than most of us have, faced an abusive father, lost many of his siblings, lost his mom, lived in poverty, was wounded in the first World War, and had the one thing he had left, Germany, defeated and humiliated in 1918. Doesn't excuse how he "coped" with it, or lashed out at a world he felt was against both him and his own "people".
