  • In this video I share with you why we decided to invest in real estate in Sardinia, one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean. I take you on boat tour to the beautiful marine sanctuary of Tavolara, where I get very personal and share how my love for real estate was born. I also share the challenges of buying and building in Italy, and how I made money over the years buying properties. I hope you enjoy this longer video, and feel free to post any questions in the comment box. Don't hesitate to contact us on info@bluevistaproperties.com or go to www.bluevistaproperties.com

      Love to hear you have that same passion. It's such a rewarding experience to buy a place, renovate it, and see it come to life and then use it for holidays, build memories, and also get rental revenue. :-)

    You were blessed to have clarity of vision, confidence in yourself, and an appreciation for how money works at a young age. At age 57, I'm just starting to understand these things (up to now, I spent my money on Toys. My greatest ambition coming out of college was to own a pair of audiophile speakers. 😔). Better late than never to understand how money works.

      Indeed, and I am still learning every day. Not all the decisions were good ones, but investing in real estate early helped set aside money I would have spent otherwise…. Wishing you all the best on your own journey!

    I flipped a few homes back in the 90's in New Jersey USA and found this method to find/work with a good contractor or subcontractor that won't BS you or rip you off: Talk/get 5 estimates and go with the middle estimate and get EVERYTHING in writing - time frames, materials (do a list/photo board), distributions % of funds as the project progresses, etc. And make sure that you let them know you're not looking for a friend or a drinking buddy! THAT ITS A BUSINESS TRANSACTION!

    • @bluevistaproperties

      Thanks for the comment, yes, I learned unfortunately the hard way. You are 100% right; so key to find that right contractor or subcontractor, and they are a rare find!!! Thanks for your feedback!

    It’s the middle of the night & I can’t sleep. Then I stumbled across your channel, just the job to fuel my wanderlust & retirement dreams. I’ve been to Sardinia 3 times now & love it. I’m keen on Montenegro as well, not that I’ve been there yet.

    Ich finde die Idee mit dem Wechsel der Immobilien innerhalb der Community von Gleichgesinnten sehr interessant und schlau. Man bräuchte nur eine Immobilie an einem guten Standort und kann sein ganzes leben lang an verschieden schönen Orten leben, mietfrei oder ohne die hohen Kosten für Hotels.
    Danke, dass du mir die Augen geöffnet hast.

    Appreciate this video here, thank you. And very nice that you talk about how you began and you did borrow ,money from family and/ or friends. I think we are many who would love to begin the journey of owning homes ( I have had this in my radar for the last 4 years now), but I struggle to get enough money to actually buy a property and get started. Love your transparency here as most people who do videos on real estate just talk about "get into real estate, judst borrow money an live off debt", etc, etc... Well , not that simple and easy. By the way, Love that you walk around and don't care about people passing :)

    • @bluevistaproperties
      @bluevistaproperties  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comments! Getting started is the most difficult, and with real estate prices having gone up so much, it can be hard to get the money for the downpayment. I was lucky that in parallel I worked my way up the ladder in the corporate world, which allowed me to set aside more and keep investing in more projects. Then I flipped some homes and got more money. It’s much easier later once you’ve built a good amount of assets. Wishing you all the best on your own journey! I hope the video was useful!

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, it’s really under the radar, and there are truly great deals to be found. Naturally it depends on what you are looking for, if you want short term rental revenue the season is very short. If you want a beautiful place with a complete different rythm from the frantic pace of the modern world, with amazing food, beautiful scenery, friendly people, and reasonable cost of living, you should definitely consider :-)

    do you still love living in Sardinia now? Would you consider on the italian mainland as I have been considering the amalfi coast

    • @bluevistaproperties
      @bluevistaproperties  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, there are tons of pros and cons. One of the advantages of the mainland is access to big cities and airports, more diversity, and a much longer season in case you are considering renting. Be mindful in the Almafi coast of the horrendous traffic in the summer, the small road turns into a perpetual traffic jam. The views are incredible, and there is lots to do. Italy has so many beautiful places, it all really depends what you are looking for. I have a Swiss friend who built a house and lives in Sardinia full time in Luogo Santo and absolutely loves it and the quietness, but it is very quiet indeed!

      I think that you had very strong omens to start your own construction/builders company you probably could’ve gotten people from Costa Rica or Colombia. brought him to the island and have them building an amazing place for you under your control. As long as you have a good plan you can execute it this way you’re not depending on local builders that don’t have confidence in.

    So how is access to medical facilities?

    • @bluevistaproperties
      @bluevistaproperties  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, thanks for your question. Here is an overview of the two main hospitals and types of treatments they can cover.
      San Francesco di Nuoro Hospital: Ranked as the best hospital in Sardinia by Newsweek in 2023, San Francesco di Nuoro is recognized for its high level of care, quality of research, and ability to attract health professionals. The hospital has made significant achievements in various areas, including patient treatment effectiveness and improving quality of life.
      Mater Olbia Hospital: This hospital in Olbia, a partnership between the Qatar Foundation Endowment and Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS in Rome, was fully operational by July 2019 with a total of 248 beds. It offers a range of departments, including Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, and Traumatology, among others. Mater Olbia Hospital is also known for its research in minimally invasive surgical treatments and is equipped with advanced technology like high definition and three-dimensional vision for surgeries, which is essential for sensitive neurological procedures and other complex cases.
      I have heard however from some people on the island who needed very serious operations that they flew to Italy mainland to go to a specialized facility. This is more in case you want an expert in a very specific area. Here is an overview of the Healthcare in Sardinia: The healthcare system in Sardinia is part of the National Healthcare Service (SSN) and includes both public and private facilities. For specialist assistance, a network of hospitals is available across the region. It should be noted that for non-Italian citizens, the specific agreements between Italy and their country of origin might affect access to healthcare services.

      Hello, can you clarify what you mean by mandatory requirements for innoculation? Sardinia is part of Italy and follows the standard rules of entry in terms of tourist visa, residency, etc.

    • @MsSherryl01
      @MsSherryl01 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bluevistaproperties sure. I was trying to request information without triggering algorithms but I’m interested in knowing if the draconian C19 mandatory vax and their various boosters are required in Sardinia, further if the influx of migrants who, apparently, are excused fro required vaccinations as the various NGO’s fund their invasions across Europe and the Americas are seen to be dominated by fit, military aged men, and currently overrunning the border and islands of Italy. This makes my dreams of retiring to Sardinia dampened a bit. I want to find a safe haven where the govt leave me in peace.

    • @Heathenheart1979
      @Heathenheart1979 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MsSherryl01 I'm Sardinian and I'll tell you that no vaccines are required to visit or settle here permanently. Now, I mean. Some years earlier, when the pandemic was roaring, all Italy was heavily suggested to have 3 doses of vaccine. Some regions were red code, others orange, and Sardinia was the 1st region to become white zone because of isolation and genetics. The only cons for staying here is the high unemplyment rate. And illegal immigration is not a big cause for concern, despite fulsome racist news.

    • @bluevistaproperties
      @bluevistaproperties  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I hear you, just to clarify, the land I bought was on the market for years with no interest, maybe because at the end of a 2 kilometer dirt road. You could not access with a nice car, you need high clearance. So maybe yes a local might have been interested over the years, but not sure given the location. And by buying and building it brought naturally funds to the seller and all the construction companies who are involved. Then by renting you get the renters spend in restaurants, which helps support the local economy as well. But I can understand the feeling from a local.
