  • This is more than just a tackle store, it's my old home. I can't thank the folks at LFT Lures enough for helping me with more than just high quality tackle, but helping me get started in the fishing industry as a guide and tournament angler.
Today we walk you through the Lake Fork Trophy Lures Store and show how they make son plastics and the history of the store.
    Check them out online!

I have been buying the smaller swim baits as my trailers for swim jigs and chatterbaits for about 2 years now and I have loved them. I made a really big purchase from them back in January and have been trying out pretty much everything they have. I must say they have the soft plastics down to an art. They are some of the best soft plastics that I have ever used, and will be using them for a long time for sure. It was nice to see where some of the best are made.

One of my favorite things about smaller mom and pop style operations like this, (besides supporting small businesses), is the crazy/different color combos they have for baits. I love their different and unique colors and styles. There's just something exciting about throwing a bait that you know hasn't been presented to the fish before. It's feels like you're breaking ground every time you land one for the first time. It's a fun experience. Especially here in MT where soft plastics are usually at the wayside for inline spinners and flies.

I worked at Toledo Tackle from 1988 - 1992. I worked in the mold shop doing finish work on the molds. Most fishermen have little to no idea the work that goes into soft plastic lures. I worked under Greg Garst, that's a name most don't know. The man was a lure designing marvel. If you remember the riverside big claw, if you ever noticed the copyrightight symbol with "Hughes 1990" on the bottom, I am the guy who stamped it there. Fun times.

My dad took me to Lake Fork for my birthday when I was about 12 or 13. We went out with a guide and fluked some Lilly beds during spawning season. I caught my first big large mouth at around 7 pounds. I had the best time with my dad and hope we can get back out again someday before he gets too old to go with me.
