I have been saving up to move into a 200 gallon aquarium. I currently have a nano cube style reef tank that has been established since March 2023. The tank has really come into it's own and is thriving. I have been doing a lot of on line shopping and tossing ideas around in my head. My dream tank is one that I put together myself from hand selected parts and pieces. I have taken the time to put my ideas to paper and designed the set up with a C.A.D. program utilizing extruded aluminum for the stand, side locker, canopy & custom light mounting bar. I have already invested in some quality equipment that I can transfer over to the new build. For example AI Hydra 32 lights and Reef Brite XHO actinic blue supplemental lighting, Hydros aquarium controllers for maintaining vital tank functions & information at the tip of my fingers. The Hydros system is also controlling a saltwater mixing station I put together in my basement. I set up the salt water mixing station to do auto water changes and auto fill & shut off the RO/DI system and transfer fresh RO/DI water to my ATO reservoir next to the tank. all plumbing has been integrated into my homes fresh water supply and drainage system. My wife has already signed off on the project now comes the hard part.
I personally love a budget build! Never hurts having some extra scratch in your pocket to place elsewhere in your build (equipment, livestock, surrounds aesthetic decor). It’s just important to know that you will be DIY a lot to make it functional
I had success with the cheapest Current USA light over a smaller tank. It grew anacropora, monties, birds nest as well as the usual soft corals and some LPS like Frogspawn. If you look up Susan Nichols on youtube she used 2 of the cheapest Current USA lights over a 20 long which is probably the nicest Nano-Reef I've ever seen (lots of SPS). Maybe they're not as good as AIs over bigger tanks but for small tanks they can be good. I would think they'd be ok for soft coral over the 125 too.
My cousins Red Sea failed at the bottom seem after about 5 years of ownership. Happened while he was on vacation. Returned to a partially flooded house and all his fish and coral dead. Red Sea said he was out of warranty and the only thing they would do would be a discount on another tank. Apparently this is a common issue so I would be weary on getting one.
The Redsea is everyone’s dream tank, if you got 10 grand to drop.. The second is the one most end up with though. Oh course I’ve seen ppl buy expensive tanks and totally crash them… If you don’t understand the process and up keep no tank name brand will save yah..

This is going to be a beautiful tank in time. I have always loved setting up new tanks.😊

Dang
What light was it ? The tank is beautiful ❤️
Those live rocks and complete scape cost how much ? Roughly
Any idea where the owner got the mesh lids ?
I believe it’s the old school Red Sea lid kit you have to cut/measure yourself.
@aquariumservicetech2891 ahhh OK thanks keep the videos coming 👍🏼
People say redsea are bad they burst but I did a install and i think it’s the way the cabinets are made they don’t sit even with the cabinets
They made great improvements on the G2’s. Cabinets can be adjusted. I feel better about the new ones.
Hit that thumbs up for more inspiring and informative fish content! Great to see Tommy. Love and Peace guys.
