  • Sharing our recent project to retrofit homelink module in my 2020 Tesla Model 3. Module came off a 2018 Model 3.
Helping me is Anthony Genette - co-enthusiast and TeslaTonic member. Hope you find some value. Please share your feedback.
Once installed homelink icon showed up on the screen but wouldn't do anything. I scheduled service with Tesla and they programmed it to work. Charged me around $45 (30 min labor) and that's it. Works like it's supposed to.
PS: Sorry video isn't very 'professionally' edited. I'm still learning video editing as I go (Final cut pro) leveraging online tutorials and stuff...!! Hopefully will get polished with time.

There are other videos that show the install process and does not require taking off the bumper.

I didn't know that.... would've saved me some time but then again I did have a blast during the whole process :)

No, there is no need to have a tech complete the job. Videos on TH-cam show you how to service the Tesla and program the module.

Are the older Model 3s hard to access like this, unlike the new ones which don’t require bumper removal?

that's pretty cool. Makes sense since Tesla maniacally focuses on simplification of processes

As most people know by now, there is no need to remove the fender inserts, bumper, etc. This is a terrible video for something so easy.
