@@graceshotdown I actually intended to but he got a bit nervous.. and that made me a bit nervous haha so I scrapped the idea.

It uses the motors to put the energy into the battery instead of using the breaks, but you can also turn it off and have it coast.

You can control it with the acceleration pedal. If you barely keep pressure on, it keeps the motor from decelerating your Tesla; and it doesn't use battery power. As soon as you remove your foot completely, the locking mechanism engages and decelerates the car without touching the brakes.

yes. it's pretty intuitive. one-pedal drive. I encourage everyone to give it a test spin.

@@OGMarsLife Just a lot of retries and experimentation before getting into the real U-turn situation. If you found a confident place to run the test, Go there and start the video at that point even if you don’t know how it will perform. So that would be unrehearsed but we would not have to wait for all the decision making and trial and error leading up to the real unrehearsed trial. Just a suggestion to save the viewers time.

I've tested this one like 500+ times since it's on the way to my home. I can see how it can look from the video but will vouch it slows down on the 4th because of the speed bump and not stop sign/turn. Thanks for the feedback.

Whatever your criteria of it not being 'here' yet you're entitled to your opinion but it's clearly here to stay, and should be supported!!! I'm sure waymo or some other has achieved higher official autonomy 'level' but Tesla FSD has been the furthest in efforts to achieve fully autonomous driving since it's being tested in wide-open streets and not some closed/controlled pre-defined routes like it's competitors. btw, you may have picked on it but if not, in this scenario car stopped to give pedestrians right-of-way, which is very different than stopping for pedestrians 'already' crossing in-front. It correctly figured out that the standing pedestrians were waiting to cross the road and stopped to give them RoW

I mean, it's the whole point of your video you were kind enough to make and share --- that the car is starting to act like a nice driver instead of a headless chicken. But, until you are no longer surprised we have a ways to go. By the way, are you saying by "Tesla FSD has been the furthest in efforts to achieve fully autonomous driving" are you really saying Tesla has dropped the ball? Or that they are slacking off? Because I was a little surprised to find videos of Elon promising self driving in like 2016. For him to be that far off, I have to wonder what's going on.

On average humans take years starting at infancy to 'train' their organic neural-net to get to the level of being 'somewhat' repeatedly-reliable and safe (to self and others) in walking/running/eventually driving, and a significant part of that journey involves active support and encouragement from family/friends/others... Imagine if we told toddlers when they landed on their butt learning to walk, or hurt themselves/others encountering a new scenario - that you suck! Stop doing it!... I'm sure you can fill in what will happen next!! Tesla FSD and all other self-driving initiatives could use the same encouragement IMHO when you consider the upside... all cars become expert in self-driving, are always 'aware' of each other - spatially and neurally = no injury or death due to accidents

even with clearly marked lines on both sides of the road it occasionally goes off to the right 'thinking' lane is supposed to stay straight I'm guess... the area to the right has fairly clear markings that would imply don't go there... but car still does

I agree it may be best to avoid such a turn especially when there are other safer options available. Still FSD needs to be able to handle them all. On this intersection removing fence will help with providing vehicle with earlier visibility of oncoming traffic, but the difficult of the sharp left turn with very little median space will remain a challenge. City should both widen the median and remove fence

As most people know by now, there is no need to remove the fender inserts, bumper, etc. This is a terrible video for something so easy.

No, there is no need to have a tech complete the job. Videos on TH-cam show you how to service the Tesla and program the module.
