Thank you for sharing this great first interview and hosting it as well. I am from United Airlines as well but from the Cabin Crew side being a former Purser Flight Attendant based herr in Chicago. Yes, I heard his Pacific flying out of San Francisco. From me, we had those long-haul Hong Kong flights in the he retired 747-400s were. I started training in the cabin side back in February 1999 and then in tax season on April of 1999. My international graduation trip was Paris. France and then after getting first wings my first international trip a week later was Paris. France again! Well, it was also very nice nice hearing this First Officer living in Europe in his early years with his family. That was and still is a great learning experience for us Americans to live abroad. Furthermore, I take it he loves the 787s and they are beautiful to see. My love for me after flying on the gorgeous DC-10s, 727-200s and the retired beautiful 747-400s was and still is the 777s.😊 Well, again, thank you for having this first interview from the Pilot's side of our industry.😊 You have brought back some great memories for me in our industry from the Cabin Crew side.😊
Finally, back then I went into the Purser Leadership classes a few months before that worst situation of 9/11. Also, I have left the airline as well. So, yes, I am a former Purser Flight Attendant. The industry gave me some great memories of traveling the world and it has been nice for me.😊
Ah Cheers, I was just in Christchurch last month. Love Christchurch and New Zealand. We have season service there for now, hopefully it will increase to year round service. Will message you when headed back that way
Houstonian here and my son is getting ready for pilot school once he finishes high school in May at 18. To envision his path and hearing this podcast is amazing. Thank you!
I don’t think there will be any “ nose diving “ great interview can’t wait to see another one. I really like how you let your guest every time finish his sentence without interrupting. TY . I would love to hear your story!!!
Wow, that 48 minutes just flew by no pun intended it seemed like 15. You gentlemen ere just great together, You greased that interview, and what stories, and some beautiful photographs inserted. Non aviator here I'm a old banged up retired firefighter. Keep up the interesting content, looking forward to the future one's.
Funny mentioning the open cockpit doors. I remember when most non-US airlines allowed that. I remember flying an Air New Zealand from HNL-AKL and being in the cockpit crossing the equator. On a BA 757 from Barcelona to LHR the captain walked through the cabin and picked the prettiest woman on board and invited her to join them in the cockpit. Lol.
Just discovered this channel and all of your content is fantastic! My grandfather was a WW2 B-24 Captain who went on to work at the airlines, eventually flying the 707. When I was a kid he used to take me up in a 172, priceless memories. He's been gone for almost 25 years but I've started to take lessons to get my PPL after many years pondering and it is a dream come true to carry on his legacy. I know an OG like him would love to fly the modern planes of today. Thank you again for all the insight!
Thank you so much for sharing that incredible story! That was an a amazing generation of people who sacrificed so much. I bet he would be proud watching you followi your own aviation dream👨✈️✈️
What a great podcast and a great channel!! My niece is living her dream as an FO on the 737 Max 8 for Air Canada with a similar story (so far) to you and your guest.
Fantastic interview and nice job with the Channel. Kieran your journey into the aviation world was inspiring. I was born in San Francisco but moved to Ireland for school and college. Recently moved back to San Fran and I've worked in my dads construction business for the last few years but I'm finally trying to pursue this career. I have a Bachelor of engineering in aviation technology from a college in Ireland. I noticed in another comment you mentioned you're based in SFO, I would love to to get some insight from you if you ever have some free time. I live in Mill Valley, Noth Bay SF. Cheers and safe flying. Conor
Did the QX/F9 code-sharing begin 01 JAN 2004 and ended 27 NOV 2007? Just checking for my records since you and Kieran mentioned it ending earlier than the originally-planned 12 year agreement? Thank you!
Great interview. Love the 787. Wonder what variant the dash 9 or 10. That 26 feet of wing flex is what Boeing did during flex testing for development of the 787. During the test the wings flexed at 26 feet and didn't even snap. Carbon fibre wing. During actual flight the wing flexes about 13 feet. Also nicknamed the Plastic Fantastic.
Hi, Kieran, Nice Interview. Do you have nice pictures from Brazil? Do you fly for Brazil, GRU? I’d love to meet you (I’m an EMBRAER 195 Captain at AZUL). Kindly
Hi Pablo. Thank you sir. I was just in GRU a few months ago. I am based in SFO so we don’t get South America very often. Would love to catch up next time I am down your way
