The Halloween card event was one of my all-time favorites, and I've been playing for quite a while now (6 years overall, I think). It was challenging, but in a way that felt rewarding and fun, and you could employ a couple of different strategies with real success. Anyway, I do understand the need for some easier events, especially when the event calendar is so jam-packed these days, but like Uber said, it's a shame that one of Inno's best-ever event mechanics had to be scrapped for that. Regardless, I'm also kind of looking forward to a less-involved event for once. Will be a nice "break" from what we've been getting. Even without events, this game is complicated enough as it is!
The card game was my fav minigame of all time. I think the historical event killed it off which is unfortunate, tbh this game works well with Halloween and I don't see it working well with other events. It should return next year.

Agreed . . . I really enjoyed the card game. While there's another variant in the rotation it's sad to see it go. Your critique of balance and skilled-vs.-easy options in a game is spot-on.
card game was the best, the rewards were extremely good, but the last 4 events rewards were pretty bad. Just a lot of stuff from the recent event and if there was someting new its time based builings and for QI that nobody plays..
There is zero skill involved as the throw also have a pre determined prize, youll notice it clearly with rival quest for example get 5 green ghost elixers. You click the 1 knife option and the quest completes without the knife being thrown, that really sucks
Honestly, I liked the temple run event they had before the card game the best. They keep "revamping" all their old events and they're all the same idea now. Glad they're bringing back the spin the wheel->as first seen in the summer pirate events
I like the quicktime idea. The middleground thing is, at least for me, not possible. I hate monotonous events, but if you gave me less rewards for easy things I would always chose the hard for more
Ahh bit of a bummer. Was looking forward to the Halloween card game again. It was the first event I participated in when I started just last year. Was a little worried they were totally skipping Halloween this year since the Fellowship Event is about to start.
This mechanic used to be used in the summer event and i quite enjoyed it and here it is again, slightly improved so the card game will come back im sure.
I wish they had that event minigame back too, but I liked the card event more. It would be nice to have both as alternatives for other events instead of duplicate minigames
In the last two events, I couldn't upgrade the event building because I was missing one upgrade kit each time, despite earning the bronze rewards. In past events, the bronze level included a spare upgrade kit. I hope this feature returns.

I did enjoy the card game, but after Inno repeated the same mechanics for the historical event, that mechanic got kind of repetitive so I actually welcome more variety like there used to be. I don't like the repetition of games in different events with the same mechanic with a different wrapper. I thought the next event was the fellowship event? Yesterday I watched Mooing cat's preliminary guide to that event. Am I missing something?
A great middle ground for strategy was the original Halloween fog minigame. I preferred that over the cards and this new one and was really hoping they would be bringing that back this year.
I hated the Halloween and the Fellowship event. Have you tried Dominion? Dominion is AWESOME, and it is similar to the Halloween game, but way way better. I felt like the Halloween game took a lot of energy and I just kept feeling like "why am I doing this when I could do Dominion." Definitely give Dominion a try--I get you'll like it.

My desires, in decreasing order of importance, are: 1) quicker, less time consuming 2) less monotonous, less “work-like”, less mindless button smashing 3) F2P having a chance to overcome the paid players head start Changes to improve #1 are unfortunately often going to make #2 worse as they are inversely linked for the most part. I wasn’t here for last years Halloween event, so I can’t compare from personal experience; but from the video and various comments it sounds like this is good for #1, bad for #2, and unclear for #3. Since #1 is most important it sounds like the change is a net positive.
Or maybe could also find alabaster upgrades 😉 But yes, I think with some tweaking, the game could reach that point. The framework is there, it's just the tricky act of balancing

No, there wasn't *successful* monetization. It could have been implemented in a better way that's more conducive to spending. I don't think the answer would have been *more* monetization, if anything, that could have made things worse.

This is a bit of a shock and concerning. Having played the game for 4 years I do a large chunk of the game on autopilot. The minigames with some strategy involved are probably what keeps me interested. If minigames that a 5 year old can do just as well at as an Einstein are the meta, then I fear my Foe days may be coming to an end.
I HATED the card game, and not cuz of it being too complicated or anything of that nature, I just thought it took too much time and was too easily manipulated to make you spend diamonds if you wanted anything good from it, and that was with actually wasting money on the event pass.

Much love for the easy events! My preference would be to make the events shorter and fit in more. Then alternate between easy and strategic events. Please don't ever get rid of the easy events completely. But, also, it is fulfilling when I really do get more rewards because I've mastered the strategy of the harder ones.
I really liked Halloween card game, my most liked miningame in last year or two by far, others are just annoying and no fun at all. Although I would have preferred they removed History event miningame instead as that one was awful. I personally like the fact they are introducing a simple event like this which don't waste our time and reminds me of old times, I really appreciate that but would have preferred they replaced any other game instead of this one.
I hated the card game because I spent so much money between it and the crystal games, talk about gambling games that quickly make you forget about the terrible prizes you are winning while trying to beat the contest game I had over 2x what I needed for gold league before I forced myself to stop that one.

I drafted my thoughts yesterday when the announcement was posted and edited most of that, confirmed those thoughts once the event started on Beta, and only needed to record a few clips of the event. It's a short video, so a pretty quick turnaround.
I liked the card game untill i no longer had time to play it. I much prefer events i can play and get the event building without spending an excessive amount of time doing it.
So sad. Catering to the cry babies who couldn't handle the card game. I won't waste resources trying to collect anything from this event. BRING BACK THE CARD GAME!!!
Best part of last halloween event was that u had 3 types of chests to use keys on. So there was no bullshit like 2 events before that people are left with 100 unusable keys cuz they lack right color ones. This event will be dogshit. Same stuff like summer event from years before. Bunch of garbage prizes and u compete for gold price with others. Trash

I LOVED the card version, just like you. The random "luck" events are always crap for me.
The archeology event was my favorite mechanic. They copied over to Halloween for a while then got rid of the mechanic all together ☹️

The fog game was very lame, imo. The card game was actually fun. All these luck-based games are for coma patients.
This definitely looks better than the fellowship. I’ve always hated the st Patrick’s event so I was annoyed seeing it when I came back.
