they're both good for different styles of music and different styles of people listening to the music

Nicely done! I've had the Scarbee P, Rick, Music Man for ages. Wish had done a Hofner..it would have been old school McCartney, I'd bet. The AS version is more contemporary sounding. Personally, I like thebScarbee. Both are very good.

Scarbee Jay Bass is better to me. I love the string sound, and it's easy to tone down the string sound if you don't like it. The intonation when when switching strings and frets is far more realistic than the Acoustic Samples J Bass. Scarbee sounds more realistic to my ears.

Like an old fart (as I am) ... I often lament to my older sons (17 & 19) that I put down over A THOUSAND DOLLARS for a 10MB RAM expansion for an Ensoniq ASR-10R module. This allowed me to load enough patches to NOT hold up the set-list and overall flow of the gig. John Mike ... you truly live in the GOLDEN age of sample-based instruments. In my day, any one of your "treatments" or "modes" would have been pared down to a single "nice" sample. Probably shackled to a particular song key, and certainly only good for momentary experience (live), and definitely not recorded for anyone to suffer in scrutiny.

Wow a 10 megabyte RAM expansion on that Ensoniq! I believe it Matthew Harrold...Technically I've grown up in the "Digital Age", well the first piece of equipment I got though when I was thirteen-ish? I want to say... was a Roland CDX-1 from a Music Store Chain, $400 for that F'ing 8-track Unit, and NONE OF THE TRACKS worked when I got it home :(
Before I could return it the store went out of business... (The guy obviously must of felt good about himself for ripping off a 13 yr old who was first getting into the world of Home Audio Recording,by showing me a working unit, then "boxing" it up for me 'in the back'... but it was a powerful first lesson to learn on naivety, despite that when I got a bit older, I actually repaired the unit and still have it as a reminder, but by then it was quite out dated, compared to the revolutionary "PC", and the epic creation of the "DAW"...)
You've got lucky children, if you have the money and time to keep up with how you pointed out, JUST how quickly in the last 20, nay, 10 years, TECHNOLOGY for Audio Production, has made a lot of the "impossible"....Possible...
Though my friends Uncle, who is probably around the age of 60? He has probably spent thousands in Analog equipment over his life time...
(He still has many units, and their just AMAZING, I feel like a child in a candy store, every time I visit him in his home studio, in my opinion, nothing will ever beat that crisp sound of Magnetic Tape, the unnatural warmth, and having your hands on "physical knobs and buttons" while creating Music/Art, once a year me and him and few other musician's get together to "Jam", only using instruments and technology created probably either around the time, or before I was born, it really is amazing, but you probably already know that :-)

I think the main difference is that the acoustic samples one has a amp/cab-simulation going on. The Scarbee is more like a DI-Sound straight from its pickups.

Bene Höyns That was the same issue I had, it would have been better if he turned off the amp in the Acoustic Samples one then run them through the same amp sim

I knew it. The Samples sounded just like the Scarbee when I put it through amp sims.

The Jay bass just sounds like new strings to me. The Jbas sounds good...last I looked you could get a squire for probably less money....and guess what it actually sounds like a real bass....imagine that

it doesn't sound like P-Bass to my ears, it doesn't have the same bottom end P-Bass is notorious for, but more like a Retro Bass library by Efimov which is Fender 1952 bass. It's got that retro character to it. I'm thinking Scarbee is closer to the average J-Bass sound.

Hey man just bought a 15 inch latest macbook pro and when using only one vst from Kontakt in Mainstage hits more than 60% of cpu. It has to be a software issue since in standalone I am left with 5% playing the same sound. Did you struggle with similar problem maybe? Please I am searching a lot through forums and can't get any explanation. I spent almost 3000€ on this thing and now I'm scared to go on stage.

Não se pode comparar... todos são bons, o que difere é o estilo.

John Mike Add Ample Sound basses to your bass guitar comparison list and there you have it. I believe all of the best products on the market have been mentioned.

@@Johnmike modo bass is not a rompler based library like these two.Modo is a vst that has many code lines in backstage thats why is so light and doesnt take as much space as Scarbee and Jbass do...
