Just an FYI, "Decaying Dragon Keys have been updated to debuff both Shields and Shield Gating." Also "...period of invulnerability scales with the amount of Shields you have." Catalyzing Shields is now a decent survivability mod choice as it gives you a guaranteed 1.33 seconds then you can rolling guard. Makes you almost immortal, add an augur mod or brief respite and it's even more effective.
Dude, you have just become my favorite WF youtuber on earth. in 3 years, you are the first person to actually effin explain the terms being used, both verbally and visually then demonstrate them so we can actually LEARN WHAT WE ARE DOING instead of just running to youtube to just Copy and paste builds with out the basic understanding of "Why" we are doing the things. it's not enough to just go for results because if you don't know why something should happen, it's really hard to understand why it doesn't when things go wrong. this is the second video today i've watched as i followed the link from the damage one to this one. I nominate you King of WF information disbursement. I've learned more in 30 minutes about the game than i have in the last 3 years. THANK YOU.
Oh I'm super happy that you share this opinion that understanding the mechanics is better than just quickly copy pasting a build ^^ That's what I always try to focus on and I'm glad you appreciate it. Again, thank you so much for your amazing feedback and support. You really made my day ❤️
This is such a great guide for most of the levels that people face survivability issues. On helminthed abilities there could have been some discussion on good defensive choices: silence (CC and blocks enemy abilities), resonator (enemy focus on it instead of you), gloom (was mentioned on healing, but also does very potent slow at high strength), entangle (CC), radial blind (CC, or breach surge, but it is somewhat slow in spreading out), etc...
Magus repair is what I use for healing. Stay invis with operator, lockdown enemies, and heal not just your own Warframe but others as well. Saves the spamming.
This is so good, tyvm! One of my bigger gripes with the game is the lack of decent tutorials. So many players struggle to stay alive in a simple sortie due to this and yet in the forums there is that loud minority screaming for more nerfs, because the game is too easy for them. Nice to see some players are not elitist, out of touch pricks and make these neat tutorials for players that need them. I always find it better than the stupid "good riddance" mentality towards weaker/inexperienced players that's spreading like cancer after the AoE nerfs...
I notice this too. I'd be technically considered a vet, I've been playing for a long time, pre open world, pre steel path, heck, I remember when the Braton Prime was S tier meta because status all day. I can't survive Steel Path well at all. Heck, with some frames I just can't stay alive. Part of that is probably my lack of fully leveled arcanes, part is also probably due to how I play. I just can't see how people play Steel Path like it's "normal star chart" as many comments on the Warframe forums claim. I get overrun way too easily, even using big damage AoE. If I try shield gating I run out of energy too quickly, health tanking gets me one shot when acolytes spawn, etc. There's always something. I have done over half of the Steel Path star chart, it's not some insurmountable challenge, it's just something I can't see wanting to just LEAVE ON ALL THE TIME like some players say they do and "not realize it."
For the cc part, something I love to room most of the time is a companion with a good aoe weapon modded purely for radiation and status. I personally like helios for its other utility but just about anything can work as long as it can affect many enemies at once. Not the sort of thing to count on too much, but it does add that little edge to your survivability that might just be the one thing saving you from certain death from time to time.
this series is FEEEE-gnom-gnom-able! this and damage guide are soo helpful. i bet i'm similar to a lot of big hr players but spend that time relaxing after work/RL and and want to kill stuff (casuals ;) that are now embarrassingly high MR but struggle with parts of SP. best of all is your attitude, calm and supportive style. I like the salty folk too, but that gets old to me. anyway. i've subbed and now i have to go back and check your catalogue (so thanks for that time sink ;)
I use khora and I find she has a great self heal with her built in companion, there’s a mod that lets pets heal you when they damage something, most of the time it seems to be more than my max hp per hit. I use this mod on both of my companions. I often find myself constantly sitting at max health no matter how much I get hit, unfortunately I do have issues when there are enemies or bosses they can’t reach or the ai goes stupid and they stand and do nothing the previous room. I’ll definitely use some of these tips to survive those other issues I have. Thank you for the video
Thank you for the Khora suggestion. I should try that one out aswell :D I think for your personal situation a melee with lifesteal mod could very well plug that healing gap ;)
I love how thorough this is! Just one thing: while Pillage may not always be the best for restoring shields on a regular basis, it is unmatched in how MUCH shields it can restore. So you can use Pillage to do a shield gating build and still have a huge shield number. Furthermore, it strips armor off of enemies which is an easy way to make them vulnerable.
Thank you for the nice feedback ^^ I agree. It's really good in filling up big shields. And the armor strip is a nice side effect, even though I personally prefer Nekros' Terrify for this ^^
magus repair for healing(when gloom is not enough/available because of energy lack) and subsumed gloom for CC.. usually players use gloom for healing but most important is the crowd control slow effect of it.. crowd control is more more important then healing cause crowd control keeps you alive indefinitely while healing is saving you only in low-mid tier enemy while depending on frame you cant be instantly killed
Molt additionately grants a speed multiplier buff for 5 seconds base along with a negative status cleanse. Its perfect for making a quick escape while you rebuild your defenses.
Great video. What I tend to do is... not play steel path. lol... Nothing is written that says you have to figure out how to do it. I jump on from time to time, have some fun running the circuit every week, mess around on the star chart a little, and then wait for the next update. The steel path, while I understand it's the peak of the levels and the content and what have you? It's like pulling teeth.
You forgot Wisp as far as invisibility goes! Literally just jump around everywhere and you'll be constantly invisible. Not only that, but you have your Reservoirs for buffing yourself and teammates (including for more movement with Haste and increased health and self-healing with, well, Health) and CC capability and extra damage with Breach Surge, blinding enemies and even spreading as you gun them down. And if you REALLY get in a sticky situation, you can always use your Decoy, making yourself invisible during it's lifetime so it can draw fire for you, or even just to teleport away by sending it back to a safer room or area.
Bear in mind I'm only on the regular star chart still, but I find Inaros' Desiccation combined with the Blood For Life mod on the parazon and his passive ability means I can heal around 1000 health with every enemy killed.
I jump in the middle of a big crowd cast breach surge then throw my glave... It's a very nice combination. Plus that and embers second abilitie active I feel pretty comfortable.
Revenant with some good mods, and possibly something subsumed over Reave (unless you're playing with squads, as Reave can add a stack of Mesmer Skin to allies). Also, yellow archon shards (choose +30% energy restored on spawn until you have 90% [this may take 3 if you're not lucky enough to have 2 tauforged], and the rest for +50% energy orb effectiveness), cause his skills eat a lot of energy, and it's a pain needing to use energy restore methods. These shards will even overcome multiple host migrations (which normally knock my energy down to 50 on spawn). Mesmer Skin got a buff a while back that gives a bit of invulnerability between stack losses, really making up for the Eximus overguard upgrade (which happened not long after I started playing). Something that some longer-time players that I converse with seem to have not noticed is that Oberon's Tesla Nervos (which happens to be his subsumable ability) are effectively invincible latcher specters. As such, they get targeted by enemies, who can't damage them. Sure, they may suck at damaging higher-level enemies, but they make for a good distraction, and will stun enemies when attached. Additionally, most enemies in the game, including bosses and Liches/Sisters, can be enthralled (though bosses and boss-likes have a much reduced thrall time). If you can't beat 'em all at once, make 'em join you. Also, thralls killed by Danse Macabre will drop overshield pickups, and enemies put to sleep by Mesmer Skin can be enthralled for 0 energy. Additionally, when thralls die, they leave behind an energy plume that will damage (and possibly enthrall) other enemies. These plumes can used to set up areas of denial at choke points in some maps. Kill them at key doorways, in narrow hallways, at common spawning spots, etc. Plus, if you enthrall an enemy that can spawn other enemies (hyekka masters, those corpus that summon osprey and roller bots, etc), they can spawn thrall allies far above the normal limit of 7 thralls. Infested Boilers, if enthralled and killed, and their husks allowed to hatch, will spawn actual allies (not thralls, allies, for the duration of the mission). Also, gear, if it's not disabled (and not in nightmare mode). The recent addition of the ability to summon Khal (with grattler!) and some of his "brothers" via air support currently means we can have a summon in Archon Missions/Sorties (I have yet to hear if anyone's tested it in Nightmare). Also, the various levels of specters scale to spawn at a level range above that of current enemies. So, do a lot of rescue missions to obtain warframe specters, do the weekly Clem missions, gain standing with syndicates. Arbiters standing can be exchanged for Corrupted Lancer Specters (Syndicate specters are pre-fabricated, not blueprints), which spawn as Arson Eximus (arguably the strongest enemies in the game). I currently have well over 200 CL specters and Ancient Healer specters. The latter are good for not only healing me, but also for keeping squishier teammates and defense targets alive.
Good video. Magus Lockdown is essential but new Tenno, keep in mind that it only lasts for 4 seconds. The maxed out Magus Lockdown only increases the amount of enemies bound per Void Sling over a specific radius. Still effective, but doesn't last long. I totally agree with Radiation damage but I found that a custom Kitguns from Rude Zuud are great for administering radiation damage and Nyx/Nyx Prime is awesome for creating the same status effect using Chaos. Modded for Duration and Range and Nyx can mind bend legions of enemies far and wide. Also, enemies can't hit what they can't see. Invisibility can be a great equalizer no matter where you are in Warframe. Again, good video. Thanks for it.
Nyx is considerably better than rad procs, her chaos skill creates an illusion of her in each enemy so they have a greater threat level, still, if you wander too close to them they'll target you.
I have to be completely honest, i thought i had the biggest brain figuring out all of the stats myself and making the “perfect” warframe ever. But now i see i’m far from the biggest brain.😂
Hahaha but at least you csme up with some creative thinking yourself. Most players just copy paste some builds they see on the internet without thought and complain that they don't work proprrly xD
This has got to be one of my biggest pet peeves with warframe. The fact that you’re pigeonholed down certain playstyles to even survive late game is honestly very depressing.
well wukong practically uses invincibility and invisibility and heals himself either when he uses cloud walker or drops to zero health he has 3 chances to not die and I would recommend him for new players he can be acquired through the clan dojo in the tenno lab
I'd say for Solo Steel Path, Stealth frames are recommended. And if not that, then learning to spam operator to prevent downs works too. (Also if you can afford it, Rolling Guard mod is great)
I was already hard to kill when using Baruuk, Gauss, Protea and an Ash build that makes you permanently invisible and deals millions per bladestorm hit, and still yesterday i decided to finally give Sevagoth to the Helminth and boi oh boi, gloom is crazy on some Warframes. Just add gloom to any warframe that benefits from both strength and range and there you go, practically invincible, you would have to try to die in order to actually die, otherwise, if you are making any kind of effort, even the hardest missions in the game are easy. I went to a sedna survival on Steel path and lasted 2 hours BY MYSELF! Literally had infinite energy, enemies dying with no effort and i was memeing around testing the build. I only extracted at 2 hours cos i got bored and wanted to play something else. It was a Protea Gloom build in case someone wonders.
Thanks for the video! I play pretty much casually and never go beyond "normal" Steel Path stuff so it is interesting to see how people survive beyond that. A little side note, at 5:55 "Aegis" is pronounced with a soft G, like in "age". I don't mean to be rude but your content is still educational (it's about a video game, but it IS educational and I'll die on that hill) and you obviously put a lot of effort in it so I think it is important to instill the correct pronunciations of words into the minds of those you educate. All of this text is just to reassure you that I meant that correction in the best and most sincere way possible :) Cheers!
Love the video mate, precise and detailed instruction and specific to the stages of players in warframe :) Just one thing I would like to add, Adaptation mod also works for shields, so slotting that for warframes like Hildryn for SP (~200 lvl) is not a bad option. Very good suggestion on molt for shield gate, another good option would be airburst(subsume from Zephyr) or breach surge(wisp) depending on playstyle and preference.
interesting i never knew that when moving around faster they are cooded to be less accurate, but in hindsight it now dus make sense with situations i bin in,for example killing a horde off enemys then get hit hard unexpectet, start moving around quickly to regain shield expecting to die anny sec but it never happens xd
just a thing about radiation and the confusion, yes it does make the enemy possible to hit and attack his allies , but, it also increases their damage up to 500% , so if you get hit in crossfire, it will kill you faster . as a different skill, dont sleep on endless lull, as long you kill an enemy under its effect (sleeping) , it will trigger the effect , having a decent range and duration will create a zone where enemies enter, will be CC , also can be used with the arcane that might make you go invisible on finisher . and ofc, operator void mode is still a way of getting out of a pitch .
I'm pretty new at that game, howver, since I'm an Ivara main, I think it's pretty obvious lol. I'm also one of those rare breeds that plays on Nintendo Switch. Awesome video as usual brother! You're my go to for anything regarding Warframe! I appreciate your content and the work you put in! Cheers!
Sure, as Ivara main survival is pretty straight forward ^^ Good thing there's crossplay now. So Switch isn't that lonely anymore ^^ Thank you for your encouraging feedback :D
@@MHBlacky_ENG Lol haha yessir for sure! Literally followed this video and organized what you've said into notes as I would my own business lol haha. Its how I learn the best and retain the info lol. I appreciate you and I'm so glad cross-play is released. Its hard finding ppl to play with sometimes lol.
One of the best ways to stay alive would have to be using Magus Repair. This mod will keep you alive whenever you are in danger of dying in almost any situation. Friends of mine warned me that steel path might be hard, but I ranched easily using this sweet mod.
Invisibility just reminded me about those old days with Naramon... lol xD.. good video. there is a bonus mod that can make your life easier and it does not use a valuable slot.. "Out Of Sight" a Parazon Mod thats blinds Enemies whitim 18m every time you do a Mercy Killing. it doent affect enemies with overguard but at high level even normal units count.. and most people dont care about Parazon mods that much.. so..
the enemies have prediction shooting in a way, meaning they shoot ahead of you if you move; so unless you just run in one direction the entire time, it'll be easier to dodge by moving around
brief respite - fatal teleport Ash with the skjialti. fatal teleport + a properly built skjialti deals like 500k damage, and makes you invisible for 3-4 seconds (skjialti's effect, it triggers on stealthkills/finishers) (ohko's most steel path enemies ive necountered on the star chart. also works on eximus units, can be a little wonky though) brief respite gives shields when casting fatal teleport fatal teleport gives back 50% energy with some 30% efficiency, you get back enough shields to max them out, and also have enough energy to nearly infinitely use fatal telelport. all in all, probably one of the weirdest but most enjoyable builds ive run with. do note that FTis hella wonky, and doesnt work on many enemies (kubrows, flying drones, and ive not had much luck with it on acolytes, so I wouldnt use it to farm. mainly just for memes)
I don't see this allot, but Molt reconstruct (Arcane) with Garuda is soooo awesome. It allows you to constantly spam your 3, which sacrifices half health for 35% Energy (Garuda has the most energy, so slap on some flow or Primed flow for that sweet 650-900 energy), and the the 4th, which cost like 100 energy meaning you get 100x6 HP every cast for you and every player within affinity range. The 3rd also just gets rid of all statuses on you and the 4th gives invulnerability. The 4th isnt good for damage even on a 300% power, buuuut. With Grendel subsumed on the 2nd, a now useless ability tanks to Molt Reconstruct, the 4th gets viral which... buffs the damage quite a bit. Now shredding steelpath enemies. The Viral and 4th's mark also gives quite a bit of extra damage with any slash weapons. And if you really wana get spicy. Use the 1st on enemies with 35% heatley to just insta kill them and build up the giant blood bomb that has almost unlimited date when combined with Viral+4th's mark. Damages in the M.
I hear you and would like to counter with the following: Defy. i-frames clears status effects absorbs dmg and deals it back in a non LoS AOE has decent energy cost for shield gating knocks down enemies for CC in AOE
@@theghost8914 counter counter: pillage removes status from you and allies strips armor and shields generates shields minor crowd control as enemies stagger from the ability has funny heat proc augment doesn't come from wukong (gross lol)
@@theghost8914 defy forces you into the animation, which means less time killing, using operator, and doing objectives. this is especially so when you’re getting your shields knocked constantly in sp density
Protective sling works on all people in its path. So including yer drones and yer specters And for those who play with other folks, They get the immunity and heals as well
So is there a rule or secret or calculation for which frame to mod for shields, armor, health? For example Limbo at max rank has 300 HP, 225 shields and 100 armor. Which stat should I focus on, the lesser or major, in this instance health and ignore armor completely or vice versa to strengthen that stat weakness. I hear conflicting opinions on wether shields are super useful or just downright useless.
Amalgam Daikyu Target Acquired will give any nikana you pair with your daikyu life steal on all attacks. it does require you to have two very specific weapons in your slots, but the healing it provides is extremely reliable for melee builds.
My favorite way to stay alive, and keep my teammates alive, is vazarin's void sling ability. Invincibility for five seconds and a percentage based heal? Yas
I personally use a umbral Xaku build with 200%+ on strength duration and range with gloom subsumed on him, each gun deals about 600 dmg which heals for 400-ish health and i have 15 guns that are shooting all the time, so basically immortal as long as gloom is up :D
@@davedelorean2383 in high level steelpath survival, i deal with too much flying bullets xD, and my reaction time is bad cuz im a boomer so i went for gloom cuz its a channeled ability :)
I like Hirudo. The only problem is you have to get up and close to get some hits in, but if you're able to (maybe with rolling guard) you can quickly self heal by going toe to toe. Also, Valkitty is unstoppable if you have energy.
Vitality, Adaptation, Grace and Guardian are enough for most warframes for steel path Huras kubrow is a good invisibility option for any caster frame such as Protea, Khora, Saryn etc
a very underused thing is also the carnis set, *especially* for glaive exploders, that + rolling guard and i'm literally immortal unless i personally mess up BADLY
From what I understand about Styanax who is my main, as a pretty new player, his abilities increase with his shield so I've currently got like a 2000 shield rating which I guess isn't half bad for a new player
2000 Shield as sn early player should definitely keep you alive ;) But Styanax' Abilities are not the thing that scales with his shields. It's his weapon crit chance. Your weapon gains +1% crit chance for every 40 shield points you have. So in your case with full shields that'd be +50% ;)
@@MHBlacky_ENG my bad I guess I consider any perk or benefit as an ability lol But nice I guess that pairs well with the Afentis since I think that’s more crit too
When I get a new level 0 frame I don’t bother with any of the power mods, yes it would be lovely to set your frame up to nuke everything but as you only have the first skill you may as not bother just get the best melee weapon you have (ideally you want something fast and long so you can run around like a madman pressing quick attack) mod it to do as much damage as you can and your best primary and do the same (I’m lucky enough to have a nice arca plasmor so stops existing if I look at it) then load up your frame with all your best survivability mods Were was I (had to go deal with a family emergency) ....ok yes you put your best health, shields and armour (that Vitality, Redirection and fiber or one of the variants) and for a mission or two you treat it as a normal FPS or like me you run around like a walking food processor swinging your Guandao constantly (I look more like a helicopter that a warframe when I’m levelling a frame)
The problem with shield gating, especially at higher levels, is that you have effectively turned the game into a task of keeping your shield gated instead of just getting the mission done. After thousands of hours of playing Warframe I have come to the conclusion that playing to the mission type is the best way to keep the game interesting, even after thousands of hours of playtime. This basically means, build yourself some warframes that are best suited or very well suited to the task at hand and just get the job done. If you want the bragging rights of staying alive at level 9999, go for it but I can guarantee that's going to get monotonous much faster than just playing the missions for what they are and ultimately leads to a false sense of achievement that might make you think there's not much more to the game after that. It's an interesting concept but I wouldn't spend more than a few hours of your Warframe career on it. Just my veteran suggestion. Also, Loki's Irradiating Disarm augment is great for high level solo tasks. It can keep pretty much everything on the map so busy that they don't have time for you or your objective. Hate hijack missions? Irradiating Disarm makes it a cake walk at any level. Just a suggestion.
I'm surprised videos like this never touch on blocking. The reason I say this is that it seems strait forward, but the fact is early game it is the best way to not die. Especially when you don't have the mods and endo to upgrade them. There is a reason melee is king. Allowing you to slaughter enemies and protecting you at the same time. I have started a new account just to remember what it's like to start from the beginning. Honestly it's rough. Vets forget what it's like to start from nothing and forget the basics. Blocking with your melee weapon will help you the most in the beginning to end game. Again this might seem strait forward, but when people can't read what their abilities do and understand them and only get recommended Excalibur for that very reason I don't think it's so strait forward anymore. Volt and Mag are far better choices than Excalibur.
my favorite self heal, on a frame that's not...well...trinity or wisp...is the arcane healing Dash [though i Think it got renamed, Protective Sling. on the Vazarin school. just do a void dash, anything you touch with very few exceptions, are granted porportional healing, and invulnerability! it was very handy early game maining as Hildryn.
Thanks for the video! Ik im a bit late but this helped so much. Epitaph is crafting as we speak, and I’m sure I have one of the dragon key things, just for farming the corrupted mods now (sure that’ll be fun 😭)
I was really hoping this would address the instantaneous death that happens from Steel Path level toxin damage. That shit is able to pop me even in operator void mode. (Or something is able to disrupt me out of void mode only to instantly die to the toxin damage, whatever, but the result is the same.)
@@joedoe7572 most frames can be a shield frame , just depends on how you mod it . however to point the obvius hildryn is a shieldframe . and becommes viable on steel path at 3k shields , anything above 4k aint realy helping ( not hurting either ) . i dont count on shield gating a high number and refilling of said shields is important . adaptation makes u tank eveything with the shields while being able to refil using pillage ( this ability can be subsumed by helminth )
Use full status cold dmg sentinel weapon (Punch through + Cold DMG + Multishot + Fire Rate mods)! Slowing enemy lowers their firerate + their Aim time is increased. Lowering enemy effective DPS alot.
for my self healing I use arcane grace and a blue arcon shard on 5/s health I also use tenno ability protective sling for emergency repairing any warframe or nechromech
3:55 I ALWAYS run the Epitaph because it’s charge shot is insane but the quick shot is nice for lots of enemy damage but once I unlocked the Nataruk, it does like 70,000 damage so I hardly ever use anything else (also I run Zephyr and one of her abilities is to deflect bullets and other projectiles so it’s nice to not be hit at all with that)
you can use epitaphs insane status chance to apply like 6 statuses on one enemy in one hit, swap to a nataruk with galvanised aptitude, and blast them for about 480% damage.
If you like Bows and NIkanas i got another two tips for Healing: DAIKYU-NIKANA You need to have the DAIKYU-Bow as Primary with the AMALAGAM Mod from the Ropalolyst, which is for the Daikyu, but you also get Lifesteal on your Nikana(Melee) The you can equip ANY one Handed Nikana (also Zaws) and you won't need a Mod Slot for Lifestrike. PARIS PRIME There is also a Mod for the PARIS PRIME Bow that fits into the EXILUS SLOT (which is amazing, since it gives you Healing without ruining your build!) The Mod gives +90% Status Chance and "300 Health for every 3 Status effects" (Paris Prime base Status is 20%)
I'm a new player and peoples on the game say to get another frame, I farmed lots to get onctavia and finalle crafted but I dont have any of thise mods lol I dieying to much and I really dunno what todo lol I dont have any friends and peoples dosnt help on the game. I guess just gonna stop playing and go play another game. I'm a newbie and I dont know nothing about this game but was nice to try it, I got to Kuva planet but before to even get there was very hard and lots of dieying lol. Thanks for the video.
I was able to assemble the dream team back when I was playing, for defense (more than half hour) knowing things will go south I used a lot my frame Nyx (manipulator) with shade plus my 3 friends: a fast Nova, Frost and Trinity. You can swap the fast Nova for more dps like Saryn or Nidus but is gonna be like in normal speed 😅 If you're going to use Nyx on defense don't use mind control with too much duration! 😂 Lol or at least just use chaos (for log duration setup)
Uh, dude? Winds of Purity may go on an early game weapon, but it is NOT an early game pickup. That's a Loka faction mod, and that takes a lot of grinding and a ton of resources to rank up with them.
you guys are overthinking it. Just get rhino, then boost armor and ability strength only. 9k iron skin can beat lvl 60-80s pretty easy without umbras....
What's the best way to tell if a frame is a shield frame or not? Is the best indicator if it has a shield regeneration skill, Or is it if it has a certain amount of base shield? What would that base be if it is? Or can you please list (at least some of) the side with less frames?
1) Get Rhino 2) Do Orokin Defense mission 3) Activate defense lasers 4) Activate Iron Skin 5) Get hit by the laser for 1 second (invulnerability period) 6) Get 1.22M of IRON SKIN, SON!
No noob question, don't worry ;) Dragon keys remain in your inventory until you use them to open up an Orokin Vault so you'd have to consume them actively ;)
Love ;your guides, but sometimes I want to look up in the wiki something you mention and I've no clue how to spell some of the stuff you mention. In the Crowd Control section, you mention what to me sounds like hellnam system. Pretty sure that isn't it though.

Oh yeah companions are really underrated if you ask me. I love myself a good Carrier with Hellstrum, too :D
this series is FEEEE-gnom-gnom-able! this and damage guide are soo helpful. i bet i'm similar to a lot of big hr players but spend that time relaxing after work/RL and and want to kill stuff (casuals ;) that are now embarrassingly high MR but struggle with parts of SP. best of all is your attitude, calm and supportive style. I like the salty folk too, but that gets old to me. anyway. i've subbed and now i have to go back and check your catalogue (so thanks for that time sink ;)
Heyho Bryan, thank you so much for the lovely compliment ❤️ Really glad you like my stuff and welcome to the community! :D
I should try that one out aswell :D
I think for your personal situation a melee with lifesteal mod could very well plug that healing gap ;)
How to never die: *play revenant*
I love how thorough this is! Just one thing: while Pillage may not always be the best for restoring shields on a regular basis, it is unmatched in how MUCH shields it can restore. So you can use Pillage to do a shield gating build and still have a huge shield number. Furthermore, it strips armor off of enemies which is an easy way to make them vulnerable.
Thank you for the nice feedback ^^ I agree. It's really good in filling up big shields. And the armor strip is a nice side effect, even though I personally prefer Nekros' Terrify for this ^^
@@MHBlacky_ENG Ooh, I gotta try Nekros! Thanks!
This is especially helpful with the changes to shield gaiting being based on max shields :) thanks!
magus repair for healing(when gloom is not enough/available because of energy lack) and subsumed gloom for CC.. usually players use gloom for healing but most important is the crowd control slow effect of it.. crowd control is more more important then healing cause crowd control keeps you alive indefinitely while healing is saving you only in low-mid tier enemy while depending on frame you cant be instantly killed
Molt additionately grants a speed multiplier buff for 5 seconds base along with a negative status cleanse. Its perfect for making a quick escape while you rebuild your defenses.
that was the best explanation on how to shield gate I have ever heard. I am quite confident I can apply this technique now.
Aaaw thank you for the lovely compliment, my friend
Truly one of the most informative videos I've ever seen on warframe
Aaaw thank you for this lovely feedback Elisha
Great video. What I tend to do is... not play steel path. lol... Nothing is written that says you have to figure out how to do it. I jump on from time to time, have some fun running the circuit every week, mess around on the star chart a little, and then wait for the next update. The steel path, while I understand it's the peak of the levels and the content and what have you? It's like pulling teeth.
Very, very, VERY underrated Warframe content-maker. Cheers!
Aaaaw thank you a lot for this awesome compliment ❤️ I'm glad that you enjoy my content and always happy to help ^^
That and looking can have infinite invisibility too.
Bear in mind I'm only on the regular star chart still, but I find Inaros' Desiccation combined with the Blood For Life mod on the parazon and his passive ability means I can heal around 1000 health with every enemy killed.
Yeah for everything below level 200, Inaros is super dank :D
I jump in the middle of a big crowd cast breach surge then throw my glave... It's a very nice combination. Plus that and embers second abilitie active I feel pretty comfortable.
Inaros gets a heal on finisher , kick sand into the face of the enemy to stun them then execute , Usually use that and grace
Throwing sand in the eyes and then going for the finisher... Sad Kindergarten memories xD
Thank you for the helpful addition and of course for you great feedback!
*AHEM*->stares at nidus and revenant while nyx and rhinoare flexing
(Also if you can afford it, Rolling Guard mod is great)
Revenant >>>>
It was a Protea Gloom build in case someone wonders.
full duration and damage + augment mods on ash I assume?
Anyone remember rage + quick thinking invincibility? Good times. Easiest way to not die back in the day.
Haha thank you for the kind correction ❤️
Glad you liked the vid and found it helpful ^^
Love the video mate, precise and detailed instruction and specific to the stages of players in warframe :) Just one thing I would like to add, Adaptation mod also works for shields, so slotting that for warframes like Hildryn for SP (~200 lvl) is not a bad option. Very good suggestion on molt for shield gate, another good option would be airburst(subsume from Zephyr) or breach surge(wisp) depending on playstyle and preference.
Thank you for the great additions. This is valuable knowledge!
a warframe youtuber besides brozime, what a joy (brozime is cool)
interesting i never knew that when moving around faster they are cooded to be less accurate, but in hindsight it now dus make sense with situations i bin in,for example killing a horde off enemys then get hit hard unexpectet, start moving around quickly to regain shield expecting to die anny sec but it never happens xd
Yep, these are the hidden shenanigans ^^
Also, as far as I know, most enemies are hard coded to always miss their first shot at you 😉
@@MHBlacky_ENG i love things like this, even thoug i played warframe for solong theres still manny things i dont know yet i geuss xd
just a thing about radiation and the confusion, yes it does make the enemy possible to hit and attack his allies , but, it also increases their damage up to 500% , so if you get hit in crossfire, it will kill you faster .
as a different skill, dont sleep on endless lull, as long you kill an enemy under its effect (sleeping) , it will trigger the effect , having a decent range and duration will create a zone where enemies enter, will be CC , also can be used with the arcane that might make you go invisible on finisher .
and ofc, operator void mode is still a way of getting out of a pitch .
The 500% increase only applies to other enemies, not us.
That and the fact that they are hard coded to be less precise the faster you move 😉
Easiest thing to do in my opinion is using Grendel to eat my problems away.
Big Nomno agrees :P
brief respite - fatal teleport Ash with the skjialti.
fatal teleport + a properly built skjialti deals like 500k damage, and makes you invisible for 3-4 seconds (skjialti's effect, it triggers on stealthkills/finishers) (ohko's most steel path enemies ive necountered on the star chart. also works on eximus units, can be a little wonky though)
brief respite gives shields when casting fatal teleport
fatal teleport gives back 50% energy
with some 30% efficiency, you get back enough shields to max them out, and also have enough energy to nearly infinitely use fatal telelport.
all in all, probably one of the weirdest but most enjoyable builds ive run with.
do note that FTis hella wonky, and doesnt work on many enemies (kubrows, flying drones, and ive not had much luck with it on acolytes, so I wouldnt use it to farm. mainly just for memes)
Sounds really nice, Philip! Thank you for sharing! :D
Damages in the M.
molt also clears status effects, so that’s another reason it’s arguably the best shield gating ability
I hear you and would like to counter with the following:
Defy.
i-frames
clears status effects
absorbs dmg and deals it back in a non LoS AOE
has decent energy cost for shield gating
knocks down enemies for CC in AOE
@@theghost8914 counter counter: pillage
removes status from you and allies
strips armor and shields
generates shields
minor crowd control as enemies stagger from the ability
has funny heat proc augment
doesn't come from wukong (gross lol)
@@THEgameHATESyou Counter counter counter
Defy can hit the dmg cap with base steel path enemies
Counter counter counter counter just use Revenant and you'll quite literally never die
@@theghost8914 defy forces you into the animation, which means less time killing, using operator, and doing objectives. this is especially so when you’re getting your shields knocked constantly in sp density
Protective sling works on all people in its path. So including yer drones and yer specters
And for those who play with other folks, They get the immunity and heals as well
So is there a rule or secret or calculation for which frame to mod for shields, armor, health? For example Limbo at max rank has 300 HP, 225 shields and 100 armor. Which stat should I focus on, the lesser or major, in this instance health and ignore armor completely or vice versa to strengthen that stat weakness. I hear conflicting opinions on wether shields are super useful or just downright useless.
Djinn/Verglas with Cold +Radiation is my all time equipped.
Get Revenant and a good Kitgun, thats it! nothing else needed. Certain Kuva weapons are good as well!
Amalgam Daikyu Target Acquired will give any nikana you pair with your daikyu life steal on all attacks. it does require you to have two very specific weapons in your slots, but the healing it provides is extremely reliable for melee builds.
If you're planning to run a Nikana melee setup this would also be my go to choice ^^
My favorite way to stay alive, and keep my teammates alive, is vazarin's void sling ability. Invincibility for five seconds and a percentage based heal? Yas
I personally use a umbral Xaku build with 200%+ on strength duration and range with gloom subsumed on him, each gun deals about 600 dmg which heals for 400-ish health and i have 15 guns that are shooting all the time, so basically immortal as long as gloom is up :D
xaku doesnt need gloom. try styanax new ability on him/her. thank me later ;)
@@davedelorean2383 in high level steelpath survival, i deal with too much flying bullets xD, and my reaction time is bad cuz im a boomer so i went for gloom cuz its a channeled ability :)
but how do you stop yourself from being one shot
@@ShadonicX7543 movement+sheild-gating, also iv never been 1 shot before with this build as long as my guns are dealing damage constantly
Yeah Xaku can be one of these infinitely scaling steel path killers. Love them aswell :D
I like Hirudo. The only problem is you have to get up and close to get some hits in, but if you're able to (maybe with rolling guard) you can quickly self heal by going toe to toe. Also, Valkitty is unstoppable if you have energy.
range mods like reach, primed reach or spring loaded blade can increase your range so you dont need to breathe down their neck to punch them.
Yknow, some air Jordan’s for the operator would go crazy. We also need a system to design our own warframes
Both would be nice, I agree ^^
If they left Styanax third ability uncappped that would be nice
Vitality, Adaptation, Grace and Guardian are enough for most warframes for steel path
Huras kubrow is a good invisibility option for any caster frame such as Protea, Khora, Saryn etc
a very underused thing is also the carnis set, *especially* for glaive exploders, that + rolling guard and i'm literally immortal unless i personally mess up BADLY
From what I understand about Styanax who is my main, as a pretty new player, his abilities increase with his shield so I've currently got like a 2000 shield rating which I guess isn't half bad for a new player
2000 Shield as sn early player should definitely keep you alive ;)
But Styanax' Abilities are not the thing that scales with his shields. It's his weapon crit chance. Your weapon gains +1% crit chance for every 40 shield points you have. So in your case with full shields that'd be +50% ;)
@@MHBlacky_ENG my bad I guess I consider any perk or benefit as an ability lol
But nice I guess that pairs well with the Afentis since I think that’s more crit too
When I get a new level 0 frame I don’t bother with any of the power mods, yes it would be lovely to set your frame up to nuke everything but as you only have the first skill you may as not bother just get the best melee weapon you have (ideally you want something fast and long so you can run around like a madman pressing quick attack) mod it to do as much damage as you can and your best primary and do the same (I’m lucky enough to have a nice arca plasmor so stops existing if I look at it) then load up your frame with all your best survivability mods
Were was I (had to go deal with a family emergency) ....ok yes you put your best health, shields and armour (that Vitality, Redirection and fiber or one of the variants) and for a mission or two you treat it as a normal FPS or like me you run around like a walking food processor swinging your Guandao constantly (I look more like a helicopter that a warframe when I’m levelling a frame)
Wisp is invisible when she jumps so more jumping, no dying.
dont try this at mobile defense sp guys. I learn the hard way
She even has a very brief invisibility timeframe after landing I've heard :D
Can you block a melee attack? How?
my favorite self heal, on a frame that's not...well...trinity or wisp...is the arcane healing Dash [though i Think it got renamed, Protective Sling. on the Vazarin school. just do a void dash, anything you touch with very few exceptions, are granted porportional healing, and invulnerability! it was very handy early game maining as Hildryn.
Yeah I agree. The Operator Arcanes have some great potential :D
(Or something is able to disrupt me out of void mode only to instantly die to the toxin damage, whatever, but the result is the same.)
when did this game go from space ninja to space calculus
My favourite way to self-heal is stay in bed with chocolate and a good drink.
I want, too :O
when doing a shield frame ADAPTATION is a MUST this wil make it viable
Which frames are considered shield frames? What would the minimum shield be? (Or non-shield frames, if that's easier)

Yes, that's also helpful. I'd say Helstrum with cold might be good due to its AoE ^^
for my self healing I use arcane grace and a blue arcon shard on 5/s health
I also use tenno ability protective sling for emergency repairing any warframe or nechromech
You can also run radiation cold on a status heavy sentinal or moa weapon
3:55 I ALWAYS run the Epitaph because it’s charge shot is insane but the quick shot is nice for lots of enemy damage but once I unlocked the Nataruk, it does like 70,000 damage so I hardly ever use anything else (also I run Zephyr and one of her abilities is to deflect bullets and other projectiles so it’s nice to not be hit at all with that)
you can use epitaphs insane status chance to apply like 6 statuses on one enemy in one hit, swap to a nataruk with galvanised aptitude, and blast them for about 480% damage.
VASCA KAVAT revives you when you are dying! If you use link-mods you cant die
Hey BouXIII, thank you for sharing! These are great tipps ^^
If you like Bows and NIkanas i got another two tips for Healing:
DAIKYU-NIKANA
You need to have the DAIKYU-Bow as Primary with the AMALAGAM Mod from the Ropalolyst, which is for the Daikyu, but you also get Lifesteal on your Nikana(Melee)
The you can equip ANY one Handed Nikana (also Zaws) and you won't need a Mod Slot for Lifestrike.
PARIS PRIME
There is also a Mod for the PARIS PRIME Bow that fits into the EXILUS SLOT (which is amazing, since it gives you Healing without ruining your build!)
The Mod gives +90% Status Chance and "300 Health for every 3 Status effects" (Paris Prime base Status is 20%)
Big preesh for the tips dude
My favorite self heal method is hirudo crit build.
use vazarin with the magus cloud operator arcane. you can just dash whever you want and still get the invincibility
You can swap the fast Nova for more dps like Saryn or Nidus but is gonna be like in normal speed 😅
If you're going to use Nyx on defense don't use mind control with too much duration! 😂 Lol or at least just use chaos (for log duration setup)
Uh, dude? Winds of Purity may go on an early game weapon, but it is NOT an early game pickup. That's a Loka faction mod, and that takes a lot of grinding and a ton of resources to rank up with them.
Or you sell some random prime parts and buy it ;)
Hey what Warframe is pictured in 2:30? Love the videos btw!!
Aaaw thank you for the compliment my friend
I can't wait to play this on android phone
Same :D
Limbo has effective invisibility and immunity from all forms of harm as its passive skill.
I hold E to revive and hope I get the mission done before 5 times
Believe me, I've also died my way through many missions already xD
you guys are overthinking it. Just get rhino, then boost armor and ability strength only. 9k iron skin can beat lvl 60-80s pretty easy without umbras....
Equilibrium is kinda my go to for healing/energy restoration but it's not applicable to every frame/playstyle.
It can work well on any frame if you use the panzer vulpaphyla with the synth mods
What's the best way to tell if a frame is a shield frame or not? Is the best indicator if it has a shield regeneration skill, Or is it if it has a certain amount of base shield? What would that base be if it is? Or can you please list (at least some of) the side with less frames?
shieldgating is some risk of rain 2 strats (rip oneshot protection abuse)
Real way for any frame to survive steel path is just make sure you have an armor strip
idc what u say
my fave way to self heal is arcane reaper since i love using melees
Magus Repair is better for Inaros. Elevate is better for taking care of chip damage.
1) Get Rhino
2) Do Orokin Defense mission
3) Activate defense lasers
4) Activate Iron Skin
5) Get hit by the laser for 1 second (invulnerability period)
6) Get 1.22M of IRON SKIN, SON!
My favorite method of healing is using vazarin healing dash
Quick noob question, does the dragon key thing in your gear wheel get consumed per mission or is it permanent until used for another reason?
No noob question, don't worry ;) Dragon keys remain in your inventory until you use them to open up an Orokin Vault so you'd have to consume them actively ;)
@@MHBlacky_ENG thanks!
Always using Oberon for cc hallowed ground just gives everyone a radiation proc
what about Harrow's Condemn? It's a subsume-able and it works perfect for regaining shields + cc
Love ;your guides, but sometimes I want to look up in the wiki something you mention and I've no clue how to spell some of the stuff you mention. In the Crowd Control section, you mention what to me sounds like hellnam system. Pretty sure that isn't it though.
Thank you for the lovely compliment, Bill!
What how did I not know about this roll mod, 3 sec invul on 5 sec CD i need that!
Now you know. Much fun with it ^^
