This is a real big block 383 Dart GTS! Yes, a big block in a little Dart. It has undergone a ground up restoration. It has been decoded by Galen Govier. It is 1 of only 79 listed in the registry. The fender tag was decoded by Galen and matches up with how the car sits today.
EXTERIOR: Sharp looking car! Born like you see it- original color, no vinyl top and a Bumble Bee stripe. The red accents really look great against this color. The body is excellent, no rust or damage. The GTS includes a dual bulge hood. This is the factory Racing Green color. The metal flake is laid out evenly, it has a very smooth and glossy finish. The chrome and trim sparkles. New weatherstrips and seals. Rare correct hubcaps look like new, radial redlines. New windshield.
INTERIOR: Restored dash area is in excellent shape, nothing cut or broke. Reupholstered seats, buckets in front with a console. Door panels, carpet, and headliner were replaced. Embroidered mats. Rare rear defogger. Very nice throughout. Visors, heater controls, glovebox liner all look new.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Vin # matching 383-300 hp big block. Completely rebuilt, bored and balanced by Barry's Performance. New pistons, cam, double roller timing chain, bearings etc. The heads were ported and polished. It looks stock- manifolds, valve covers, air cleaner etc. Upgraded Edelbrock (original carb is included) and a billet distributor. This is a show quality engine compartment, very detailed.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb is painted really nice. It has restored complete jack and spare assembly. There is sound deadener on the floor covered with a new mat.
UNDERSIDE: All the components were rebuilt. Front end has new steering components, ball joints, bushings etc. In back it has new leaf springs, bushings and air shocks. New factory type dual exhaust with correct chrome tips. New fuel system including the tank. The brake system has been completely rebuilt; e-brake assembly is hooked up. Looking up at the motor it's fresh, the starter is rebuilt. The 727 automatic trans looks fresh. Drive shaft is rebuilt. 8 3/4 rear end has 3.23 gears. The floors look really solid, they've been sprayed with a rubberized undercoat.
This is a handsome car. The combination of colors, hubcaps, no vinyl top really sets it apart from the other Darts. I don't get too many big blocks wither. This one is #s match and endorsed by the Mopar expert Galen Govier. Show and go investment!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.

My old man. Had a 67 and 69. growing up I remember the 67 and just really loved the design and when I got older my dad said he still had the 69 stored away in a garage and if if was in decent condition we would fix it and make it my first car. Would have been cool as hell in high school. But it was too far gone and then in September of 21 my dad passed at the age of 53 from a his 7th stroke and I've been wanting to get one to rebuild as a tribute to my dad and to do the father son project we were supposed to do together. But as of late instead of finding another 69 I've been thinking a 68 since it was the year he was born.

Sorry to hear that Michael. Regardless of what year you end up choosing, we hope it comes out awesome & brings you good memories.

Thanks if I could I'd get all 3. A 67 to look like the 1 my dad had a 68 as a tribute to him and a 69 to make it how ever I would want. Hopefully I'll start working towards that soon

Very impressive 68 Dart in indeed! Chrysler Corp. was seriously into their line of performance cars in this era. I owned a 69 Sport Fury with this same motor and trans, and to whoever buys this car believe me, you won't be sorry .... The best auto trans any company ever made, and the performance of the 383 won't disappoint, esp with the weight of the car .... and the axle ratio will make it a great highway car as well. Very nicely restored! Btw Mr Grams, the wheel covers had me fooled as well! My first thought was, 'those are sure different wheels' ..... Then further into the video you pointed them out. I like them too .... They stand out I Ely. I like mag wheels, but your choice of these was perfect.

Super Sweet Mopar, it seems to sit a little high in the front end, the stance would look better if it was the opposite, other than that it's a virtual diamond, just wondering about getting financing for someone on SS just messing with you thanks Mr Jay.

My 1st car was a 1968 Dodge Dart GTS with a /6 auto. It had over 200K miles and wouldn't go over 60 MPH. It was cream white with a green vinyl top and interior. Mine was bench seat and column shift. Stupidest thing I ever did was sell that car.

Did you guys buy this car from Southern Motors out of Michigan?

    • @VoloMuseumAutoSales

We don't buy cars from other dealers. It could have possibly been there before or after us but we got it from an individual.
