Thank you so much!! I did not know if they were OEM. My 2.0 doesn’t have them, and I’m working on my girlfriend’s car, which is a 1.8. I was like, ‘Why the hell did they put this sh*t-_-

you can leave the bracket alone and after loosening the manifold tilt it up and unscrew the rubber mount out of the intake with the 13 mm nut off the bottom or loose. (if no studs)

Good advice!! I can't get it back on with that drivers side stud, how'd you get it out?

Im about to dive into my 2015 passat for an intake flap issue so this was great. Thanks for posting!
Anything else you recommend cleaning servicing when that intake is off? I'm just over 100k miles now and want to stay ahead of and or prevent any issues if I can lol.

The vvt solenoid is a good one. It gets sticky from the oil and or fails on it own. Thehumblemechanic is a great youtube source for vw info too. 🍻

How difficult was it to remove the upper studs on the outside? WhT did you use to remove them?

I stacked two nuts on the stud. Then removed the stud. Any difficulty is relative, you have to be patient and take your time. Doing the studs and the slot will make much easier to go back.

Is that a good time to clean the throttle body?

Yes, but I try to do one repair at a time. In this case there was a driveablity problem.
