This game is important because it teaches you the the deeper meaning of 1 of the 4 points of chess, tempo. Since the strength and the positions are equal the status is quo and both kings being pinned lends no versatility. It is all down to tempo and who controls the next position. Since black has satisfied all 4 points of chess with every move the advantage of tempo is in their favor. Black has 4 choices to make with only 2 of them being their true move, those 4 moves ar the 4 points of chess and the 4 squares in the center. That is a good end game to show you the science of chess.
It is really very strange Magnus went for a pawn ending being a pawn down against a strong GM like MVL. Rook ending would have been not easy for black to win.
Instead of calculating a5 at the end, b6 is a no brainer because it creates a symmetrical pawn position on the queenside with white to move, so white will run out of moves when black imitates white's moves.
@@Exiitar at 9:17 , he starts talking about it. Triangulation is just the name of the idea he’s talking about. It’s rly common in king and pawn endgames, because often times the king will be defending a pawn, but will be forced to move away from it if he has no other legal moves on the board. The idea of triangulation is making sure that it’s the opponents turn to move when all other legal moves are exhausted

Like in this game when we need opponent to move his king and only pawns are there on board and its our turn, whatever pawn you push in situations like this( not weird ones 😂) always keepthe squares even between pawns. For example as agad said in the video a6 and b5 are wrong moves because it leaves odd number of squares between urs and opponent's pawns.
