  • EU: China Must 'Adapt its Behaviour' to Resolve Trade War | Vantage with Palki Sharma
    The on-going tensions over the bilateral trade between the European Union and China could escalate into a full-blown trade war. The EU chief has warned Beijing to mind its behaviour to avoid any further tensions. During an interview with a media agency, EU chief Charles Michel said, "We count on China to adapt its behaviour and to understand that we have to rebalance the economic relationships for more fairness, for fair competition, for a more level playing field." China and the 27-member bloc are at odds over Beijing's subsidies for its industries, which Brussels says unfairly undermine European competitors. Brussels had imposed new tariffs of up to 35.3% on imports of Chinese-made electric cars. Beijing responded with new tariffs on EU-made brandy. Further, Brussels is also probing Chinese subsidies for solar panels and wind turbines.

    The EU started the tariffs war and now warning China against retaliating? Two can play the game and let's see who blinks first. 😂

      @@surfspark problem is that China's economy and supply chain is so large that it can withstand losing for a long period but EU's Economy is already spiralling from decoupling from Russia. They cannot decouple from China without turning into a 3rd world economy. China has the population to absorb it's production, they can sell to their own people and to the global south just like Russia. So both wouldn't lose. EU would.

      @@blacksinclair2113 nope domestic consumption failed in china and that's why xi double down on exports.china cannot sustain for long as u said because property market has crashed,fdi inflows are negative, deflation, higher tariffs are going to be imposed by u.s,India,europe soon asean will start doing it as well.one thing is true in what u said that is europe will suffer but will not turn into 3rd world because remember europe domestic consumption is around 65 percent whereas Chinese domestic consumption is 34 percent.so in a trade war china will suffer more.

      @@surfspark Fact check your assertions cos they are assumptions at best. Check the consumption of Chinese produced EVs even Tesla's largest market is China. They buy their own. Consumption might go down but China's economy is more than the next 7 (or thereabout) largest economies combined. It can survive a trade war. And you 'assume' that it will be easy to slap tariffs on China. Self-preservation is a powerful deterrent. US will not come to EU's aid when China retaliates and that's a given. Kindly check how EU voted for imposing tariff on Chinese EV's and you'll understand the power of self-preservation better. France has seen what will happen to it when China retaliates so they have rushed to India to extend a 'No-limits' partnership so that they can exploit the population of India and enter India's market. But India doesn't have the economy of China and will not in 10yrs (except there's a military war in the region).

      You see there is a difference between russia in 90s , china today and india . When russia was at its peak , it wanted to dominate the world , now when china is strongest it wants to dominate all Asia eventually the world and that has put both countries in crosshairs of usa . Because usa is already dominating and dont want to relinquish its throne , now india dont have any such motives, it never did and never will , india doesn’t bother with who sits on the throne

    India: China must 'adapt its behaviour' to resolve trade war! Your title implies that China is the villain and EU is the victim. Is this the case in reality? Who has initiated the trade war? Is it China or EU? Why have you turned a blind eye on this issue?

      When europe wants to sell it's car to Chinese market it set up factories in China and provided technology transfers and china imposed tariffs on European cars.now it time for china to manufacture in respective country where they want to sell those cars stop crying.

    • @jakew5987
      @jakew5987 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@surfspark The way how trade works is if one country has more advantages, to counter it and balance it, the one with the more advantages should provide more. Now China has more advantages in cheap manufactured labor, to balance it, you need to either lower the wage in your own country or allow more Chinese to move into other areas of manufacturing or into services so it has less advantages in cheap manufactured labor. But the West doesn't want to do that? instead it moves manufacturing abroad and strangle its entire manufacturing sector and move all its capital away?? Come back to reality please, you don't want to have capitals in the Chinese market anymore but you want to keep making money in the Chinese market? What's with the contradiction???

    • @surfspark
      @surfspark วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jakew5987 nope your understanding of trade is very bad if china makes cars in europe they can charge more for the cars.And europe will not reduce wage because to live a quality standard of life that wage is required.they cannot slave wage workers like china do.if they pay like china workers they will become a 3 rd world country.when europe had advantage in technology they shared their expertise and setup factories in China for market access but when it's Chinese turn they want to give nothing back.on top of that there are huge subsidy on steel and electricity so equalize the playing field u need tariffs and that's what European union did.

    • @jakew5987
      @jakew5987 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@surfspark So you want to flood China with European goods when it didn’t have the advantages but it cannot happen the other way around? That game cannot go on forever. People will not put up with that. So I guess both parties should add tariff when it fits their economic agenda and let time decides which one will prevail. The luxury cars don’t improve people’s lives that much, if there are cheaper replacements, people will go with them first.

    • @jakew5987
      @jakew5987 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@surfspark no one was saying anything when European goods flooded the world market, so this is clearly a double standard. The west climbed to its current position on the back of taking over the world's market, forcing the world to buy only its goods and manufacture for the west only during the colonialism. that's the truth right? That's not a form of cheating?? Like I said, people don't have to live for luxury goods, if Europe and the West hates the rest of the world, why still sells its stuff to them??
