I think many fans lambast this too much because it's top-view only (may also be bad memories of the two PS1 episodes), and also because the following and last releases of the franchise went back to the roots, but it's definitely from a time Konami still cared.

This game would have benefited so much more if it was "twin-stick". Instead it's the usual "gimmicky Japanese scheme" where you lock your shooting angle to one direction and need to release and lock again.
