Though people refer to them as ships horns, they are in fact called the ships whistle. Everyday at 12 noon when the Captain gives his daily address to the ship, he always refers to ' the ships whistle has just been sounded'. They sound good whatever people like to call them!

Queen mary2 is the only true ocean liner in the world at the moment. Notice the length of the bow to the main superstructure and the height of the sides of her from water to the first deck. She also has a rounded stern and her draught is deeper. The hull is of thicker steel. Designed and built to go Transatlantic any time of the year and any weather conditions. Cruise ships are not built for this and although they can cross the ocean, weather conditions play a major part as to whether they can or not. Cruise ships mainly sail closer to land on their tours, and excursions are sometimes cancelled because of the weather. Not so for Queen Mary. Elizabeth and Victoria are not liners. These are beautiful ships. I love their horns. Spectacular whistles. Its like they were talking to one another when by one another. Beautiful❤🛳⛴️
