great video.. question, how to open the tube cap with the red clip still intact? I tried to push it while pulling out the cap but doesn't work? should I remove the red clip using a flathead screwdriver before pulling out the black cap? thank you
Good video, but I’m going to have to disagree with what you said in the beginning. I have a w203 c320 which had 180,000 kms on the probably original fluid. I checked with the dipstick and before the change it was very dark and green, however the transmission still preformed fairly well and doing the fluid change didn’t harm it at all and only made the shift’s smoother. I recommend changing your fluid even if it’s dark and old. New fluid is never bad for a transmission.
The way I do it I have a Toyota Sequoia 4.7 V8 automatic transmission with no dipstick to check the levels i just let it over night then in the morning take out the drin plug then what's comes out I measure what's comes out I never needed to check temperature I already Done it twice never had any problems with my transmission I have 271.578 miles on it transmission still shifts Smoothly. No need to check temperature.
First of all sometimes changing the fluid cand resolve the problem with gearbox beying stuck in a gear or remaining in protection mode(limp mode), and 2- you have remaining fluid in the torque converter, about 2 liters!!!!! Very important to check if you have a drain screw in the torque converter!!!
(722.6) How many litres total 7.5 or 8 ? Torque converter capacity ? Drain pan capacity ? Have shifting issues after fluid change. Filled 4 litres after draining ( low or overfilled)? C200, w204, 2009 model What is the normal Mercedes transmission operating temperature?
Did you add the same amount of oil you drained? Then you go through the gears and check the level from the dipstick. If its under max or the dipstick is dry, there isnt enough oil.
Hey, love your videos, need help, my transmisson its manual , my 2nd gear sometimes it little hard to put it in gear, but the rest of the gears no problem. Should i change the fluid or there is a problem?? Need help plz, thx
risky thew pan could warp and not fit correctly all he had to do is remove all the bolts except 2 in the back than loosen them and tilt the pan to drain no drilling required
Very informative video. Next time you have the sump off a transmission, could you take a pic of where the dipstick enter's the sump? Reason for asking is that I have heard that the reason that there is a diamond shaped stop on the plastic part of the dipstick ( measuring part) as this "Diamond" stops the stick at the correct point for measuring the fluid level ? So it's immaterial if the dipstick used is too long, as it's the measuring tip which counts. Thanks, and keep up the Good Work !!!
It's very possible that the original dipstick has this diamond end as you said ; The dipstick I used was from aliexpress and it was deffinetelly not made for this transmission even though the seller said it is . If you noticed when I checked the initial level the fluid was above the red end so I had to improvise on messuring the initial level ; The probem is going to be when the fluid leaks and you don't know how much fluid should be in there as you can do know on a oil dipstick . Thanks for your nice words and support !
@@doit_vehicles I don't think that it matters where you bought it from, I have 2 of them. One measures 1220 mm, overall and the 2nd one is 920 mm, overall, but both have identical black plastic measuring tips. From tip of the plastic to where it enters the silver flexible rod, measure's 3" or 7.5 CMs.. 6 Cms @ 80c would be a correct fluid level. You will be safe enough with this measurement. You can check these measurements with the dipstick that you have. It will not matter how much of the silver flexible rod is overhanging the dipstick tube. This is assuming that I am right about the "Black Diamond" which is located at the point where the black plastic enters into the silver rod. This "Diamond" acts like a stop, which prevents the tip from going too far into the oil level, thus ensuring that every dip will be to the same level. So if you are doing another ATF change, please leave the dipstick in place, and take a pic of where it enters the sump. This will solve your uncertainty about having the correct oil level in the transmission. And in the 722.6 trans, the fluid level is extremely important.
Hello ! In my c270 cdi theres two downpipes to the gearbox 5 speed automatic . One on the left side with black cap and one on the right with red cap . what should i use to refill the oil
It should have a red lock pin on it ,like you see at the end of this video . To confirm is the tube for the ATF check with the dipstick and you should find ATF in there .
@@doit_vehicles thank you ! Tomorrow i will make the change . I have this car for only two 2 days but i cant i love it very mutch :D So thats why i want to give it the maximum care .
He said that if you have a dark fluid and have a problem with the transmission this will not fix the problem , I've read on a couple of articles that old fluid can cause hard shifting and this is what is happening with my car so I'm going to check the fluid tomorrow and change it if needed, will that fix the problem or he meant something else? Since I have hard shifting mainly from 1st to second gear and when pressing hard on the gas peddle
The hard shifting can be cause by many reasons . If the transmission is stuck in first gear forever (for ex) , the fluid change wont fix it . Also keep in mind that the fluid change through this method will replace around 40% of the fluid , so if your problem is caused by dirty fluid - a flush is needed .
@@freemindas it wasn't fluid and I didn't check what was it honestly because I'm not using it very often, but I think the problem is related to the computer of the transmission or whatever it is called because when I tried to reset or relearn the transmission,it worked fine for a day or two then the same problem occurred again.
I don't understand why not drill the drain plug out , or don't drill anything remove all the bolts from the pan except the 2 in the back then loosen them and tilt the pan forward to drain
Man this is not fluid change. Most of the oil is in your torque converter. You need a special apparatus to flush it. I need to change my oil to my W203 automatic also and I checked the fluid yesterday. Is looking still good but I wonder why is yellow-green and not red like they say it should be.
that's why it's called DIY fluid change ; I would rather change the fluid my self 6 times in this way with a still lower price than it would cost me to take it to a dealer to do the complete flush .
@@doit_vehicles yes man I understand what you are saying. However I have a problem. My fluid is yellow. I bought the car second had and had 3 owners prior me. I wonder what kind of oil they put inside the transmission because all the oils for automatic transmissions are red and not yellow. I have a friend who told me is gonna help me replace it (with a similar method used by you) and he said we should make two flushes. First replacing the oil only ..drive a few days to mix it good, then flush it again and replace the filters also. What do you think is a good idea?
@@doit_vehicles Also you will never have a correct fluid transmission change even if you will do it 100 times in your way. Save money now to pay later on fixing.

Man great job, great brain!
You forgot to replace pilot bushing so you can have a piece of mind just in casa oil gets into the electronic conector.
Yea just changed my transmission fluid and guess what.....my pilot bushing is leaking oil
My ones been slightly leaking, so how will I know how much to put in?
You also could've taken a mini torch and heated the bolt and wait for it to cool....
Heat will expand the bolt and the cooling will crack the rust
it is a great idea in meny situations , however the heat will be "absorbed" by the fluid above and there won't be much of an help .
