Every Type R will do this, even the unfairly underrated FN2. As soon as it's a bit damp, it will slide all day. I'm glad that character remains in a modern chassis as well.
The most dangerous car I’ve ever driven is an ep3 with an upgraded rear arb, dodgy tyres and overly stiff suspension. I was basically full lock every single corner trying to correct the ridiculous slides it would do on turn in. In the dry is amazing though
So many things went wrong this day. Unfortunately I had to leave as soon as you guys made it to the track. I still don't understand how these oversteer. It's magic.
Remove pressure in the tyres and your oversteer will diminish, what brake fluid you running as normally we get 10 to 15 minutes before brake fade with endless or motul 650 fluid.
It's lift-off oversteer. FWD experience a lot of it because all of the weight is in the front. Once you lose speed by braking or even just lifting off the throttle while entering the corner, it's going to try and do a spin. Performance FWD cars might have even more because of stiffer rears. As mentioned in the video, if you get too much angle you just step on the throttle to get out of the spin. To completely avoid it, you'll have to avoid letting off the throttle entirely when entering corners.
Do you need track insurance when you take your cars out to a track day? Been wanting to take my car out but been a bit paranoid about a bunch of things like insurance and what it'll need to be ready
If they put a manual in the new Prelude. Honda has already made 3 hybrid manuals. CR-Z. First-gen Insight. Briefly the Civic Hybrid. A manual hybrid isn’t impossible. Honda can do it again with the new Prelude.
Those hp pads you got are more of a street pad, they have an aggressive drop off on stopping force after a relatively low temperature. I believe 600f? Look into G-LOC pads, Carbotech pads, maybe even endless pads. Compare and contrast the data on there pads and find which compound suits your driving.
100% true. Swapped to dot4 a few years back and saw immediate results. Had been racing a 9g SI and was doing things very incrementally as I saw needs. That little thing was a really noticeable difference
the subaru love promise continues to grow at every event. definitely want to reconsider listening to whomever recommended that model of hawk pad to you for this type of driving application. I know you'll find the right balance for you eventually! keep up the good work.
Try the Hawk hp+ out , they still work well on the street but have a lot more hot bite and stability. Downfalls are noise (I don’t really have any noise in mine) and dust, tons of dust
Hawks are meh. If Brembo makes the HP2000/HP2 for your car, you should definitely give those pads a try. VERY streetable but they have excellent track capacity.
When your Honda and then even your Toyota starts breaking I think it's time to pack it in and go home for the day, lol. And please don't hit any unicorns on the way home boys. ;)
Forreal! The S2000 AND the Cayman both had seized idler pulleys, cayman was able to roadside repair, couldn’t get the right part for the s2k…STI blew a motor, another STI cracked a rotor, GR Corolla started sounding unhappy in 3rd gear so we parked it. It was carnage lol and this is all out of ~ 10 cars there
Brakes “feel funny” after one hot lap, yet the 2 piston front calipers in the Elantra N are fine for a whole session according to some… What’s up with that?
On track you typically don’t want to see coolant above 220°F, oil temps can get up to 265°F maybe a bit higher and still be safe, depending on the oil you’re running and how pressure is looking.
The factory brake pads use the Ferodo DS2500 compound which is slightly above the HAWK HP+ compound in fade resistance and friction. The factory pads are actually pretty good daily/track dual purpose pad. There's really not many better options without stepping to a dedicated track pad.
Yeah HPS pads are street pads. It's a shame they stopped making them, but Hawk had the "Street Race" pads which were basically rounded off DTC-30s, they were amazing for dual duty.
How was the Type R with the Integra ADS module? I have been thinking about importing one to the UK as the UK roads are awful! I like the exhaust mod too, adds some more sound but not to much. I had been considering a £2000 Remus system prior to seeing this video
Well well well I Was at Honda dealership a month ago and asked do u have a new Honda type R I like have a Test 🚗 Drive ...And the told me not we didn't order because not much demand on the Car almost nobody like it New Model ...it's best last generation much better.

All the N drivers I know agree the CTR is great if not just better. Issue is the price mark ups and availability. Hyundai N series is incredible because you can actually get and afford them.

The FK8, FL5, and DE5 really like a good dedicated race pad for all the track activities.
Your living my dream bro, love watching your driving skills!
Wannabe race car drivers: FWD is shit.
Honda/hyundai: hold our sake/soju

Yeah, lesson learned- going with Paragon R5 pads up front next year
I was confused when I could control the oversteer in my FK8
You'd do much better with a good DOT4 fluid like Endless RF650 and stock pads vs OEM Fluid and any aftermarket pads
Spot on its the fluid that is just as important as pads 👌

Honda is the only company where you can hear FWD and oversteer in the same sentence
Don't forget Renault! The Megane RS even has four wheel steering (which to be fair the Prelude had years ago), it rotates a lot.
Wrong, all the Hyundai N cars rotate as good or better in the corners with very predictable lift off oversteer.

Obviously the Civic will be faster around a course, but which is more “fun” to drive? Type R or an ND2 MX-5 Club with a 6-Speed?

I had fwd oversteer on a rainy offramp one time in my old 5 speed nissan sentra
When you have fwd oversteer how do you fix it? Counter steer and apply throttle?
So is the integera type s damper better ?
Will you be getting a Cobb Access Port when it releases?!!! Hope you do!!!!
so...what is considered a good water and oil temperature? The manual does not specify what are the acceptable, "good" values.

What brake fluid are you running?
How you get time on gingermen in December 😭
Do you have toe out in the front?
The more i see this car the more i like it
The r drift is beautiful
Will the integra module get rid of the wheel hop?
Upgrade the rear motor mount if you want to get rid of wheel hop. Personally use the 27won 70a mount.
I prefer the Golf R honestly. When can you do a Clubman JCW ?
Golf r better daily - comfort, interior etc, but feels nothing like a type r.
