I made the mistake in my GTA of having the centre console out so long that I forgot what shape it was and thought it was symmetrical! I ended up cutting off too much carpet and then having to sew it back together! One thing I was pleased about though was instead of cutting out the carpet where the seat belt retractors bolt in (by the doors), I made a slot in it for them to go through which seemed to align pretty well! I can relate on the weather front though - having to quickly get bits back in and out of the car when it starts to rain and then get it in the garage fast! Mine's a convertible (AKA a bucket for the rain)!
Great video man. Ya getting that carpet up under the dash was a pain in the butt. I still wish I would have got mine like 6 inches further up. Either way lol great job

I've gotta do my carpet tomorrow . At least it's a convertible. Dreading it. Last one I did was my gto years ago. It took way longer than I thought .

For a few pennys more you can buy factory original carpet with the correct jute backing…and pre-molded for better fit with no cutting
Excellent carpet hole trick with the torch
This was the pre molded with optional mass backing as well as Jute padding. I think it cost around 550 plus shipping. Yeah the torched socket came out nice! Thanks for watching!

Can you please tell me if you put killmatt all over the entire floor. And any where else you put it. I am in the middle of doing it right now and would appreciate the advise.
Technically, only 35% is required to reduce resonance. I converted every flat panel though and most of the floor. I probably did 85% coverage. The mass loaded vinyl is for sound proofing no and Kilmat to reduce resonance
Does the new carpet come with jute padding or is that a separate thing? I'd be too afraid to put stuff like that back in because it never seems to dry if there's a leak.
I got this ACC carpet from Hawks. I ordered the option for loose Jute padding so you could skip that if you got the upgraded Mass backing or added extra Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV). I thought the exact same thing, my old jute made the car smell but I should have all the leaks taken care of now.
What color is your carpet color ? Cognac or medium doeskin ?
I did the 88 later color Cognac, it goes with my gold better
