CP would probably consider Mantis to be a former ride. There is a tomb stone in the graveyard every Halloween season.

Eilonwy Hewlett One year, I saw the witches’ wheel, I was too young and too short but the following year i would be able to ride. The next year it was closed down for a restaurant. I really wanted to ride it judging by the outside view. Last year at Halloweekends I saw the tombstone for it when my mom and I were heading back to the hotel after I rode the Raptor. RIP WITCHES’ WHEEL

I grew up in Michigan and we went to Cedar Point almost ever summer for a weekend when I was a kid. Got to ride both Avalanche Run and Disaster Transport back in the day. I'm still mad I lost my rubber neon pink Tommy Bahama sunglasses on the latter in 1990 (I had bought them the summer before in LA).

Steel Vengeance definitely lives up to the hype. I thought people were getting too excited over it at first, but after riding it 3 times I can say without a doubt that it’s the best coaster I’ve ever ridden.

I was recently having a conversation with my grandmother who remembers some of the coasters from the 60s-early 2000s of Cedar Point before she stopped riding coasters. She had mentioned Broadway Trip, Scamper, Wild Mouse, both Wildcats, Jumbo Jet, Mantis, Disaster Transport, and Mean Streak. I had remembered the latter three from my first few trips to CP, but I never rode them since I wasn’t tall enough 😂. That’s besides the point though. Great video, very informative.

David just because YOU like one coaster doesn't give you the right to be all rude to others because they don't like the same coaster as you do. Don't forget that everyone is actually different. You have no right speaking to ANYONE like you just did because you don't agree with them, that is not only rude but it shows how ignorant you really are.

My last ride on the MeanStreak was the best, it was raining... Slipped threw both brakeblocks, the one on the first hill and mid way... God was that thing fast.
I was the only one on the train and it two wheeled around the first turn after the first hill. I seriously thought I was going to die! First row, outside position.
But somehow the speed and rain smoothed it out❣️💞
I'll always miss her short wait times💞
    My favorite ride ever 💞❣️

It's a testament to how long it's been since I've been to Cedar Point that I didn't even realize the Wildcat was gone, lol. And I'll definitely miss Disaster Transport for nostalgia reasons.

Fun fact: according to RCDB, after leaving Cedar Point, Scamper went to Dollywood, at the time known as Goldrush Junction. It was there from 1970 to >1972, according to RCDB, and keeping its name Scamper. Dollywood was known as Goldrush Junction from 1970 to 1974.

I had ridden Disaster Transport many times through the years as a child and as an adult and just before they tore it down. It is kind of amazing how different the ride experience became over the years as some of the parts on the inside were so damaged they were no longer being used due to water leaking inside the building.

I rode the Top 3 many many times. The WIldcat Pt 2 was pretty intimidating. Funny when you consider it was surrounded by much larger and faster coasters. I think it always looked like it would jump the track! Hahaha. Disaster Transport was so awesome as a kid. But over the years it got worse and worse. I would love to see a new indoor coaster at CP, but nothing will match the nostalgia of the DT. And then there is the MeanStreak. Man was this thing awesome to look at when it opened. I loved that it was at the very back of the park as it gave us a place to meet, ride, and then move on. But damn did that thing rattle your bones. Not for the faint of heart. But the reward was some of the craziest banking, decent speed, and just gorgeous sites if you liked the structure of a mammoth wood coaster.

I was just at Cedar point this weekend and I gotta say that Steel Vengeance lives up to the hype. I'm from Chicago and our six flags has GOLIATH and I thought Steel Vengeance was just a knock off, BOY was I wrong! Not only is it a very exciting ride but it's a long one. I only had to wait about 30 minutes but head people say they waited over two hours and still thought it was worth it.

Due to my height, stand up coasters were difficult. They never went high enough and I'd end up having to do basically a wall-sit the whole ride. Even so, I loved them and miss them. I think a lot of people simply didnt ride them correctly which contributed to the general dislike of stand-up coasters.
Scenic Railway at $0.10 would be about $2.70 today so yeah, I'd say that's pretty good. $3 won't get you much at a Cedar Fair park today.

It seems the loop the loop was the same as lakemmont's leap the dips both have a three way figure eight (toboggan) layout. Apparently back then when they relocate a coaster it meant they re-purposed the lumber and cars, because the racer layout is completely different.

Mantis used to crush my nuts. Unrelated to that, I got stuck on it on its last year at the end of the night, and they let us ride millenium force twice in a row for the 'trouble'. It was really cool walking off the track and down a spiral staircase to get off the ride! Holy shit I'm commenting on a really old video haha.

I'm glad mantis got changed. That thing beat the crap out of you and was very awkward with the 'stand up' design with the way you had to position yourself. It was a much needed overhaul.

Lol I remember going with my family to cedar point and my brothers dad was like don't go on the mean streak, you'll need a chiropractor. I ignored and went on it anyway, and literally my back felt like snapping by the time I went down the first hill. It was so terrible I actually feared for my bones.

Cedar Point began as a payper ride park!?!? That's awesome!! When was the switch to pay per stay?

    • @briannabrittany3127
      @briannabrittany3127 5 ปีที่แล้ว

It switched some time in the late 60s or early 70s. I can remember when it was a pay-per-ride park. You bought tickets, and different rides cost a different number of tickets. For one or two years, you even had a choice, you could buy the all-day pass or you could still go pay-per-ride. If you bought the all-day pass, they wrapped a little colored string around your wrist with a clip-on metal hook that you couldn't re-open (so you couldn't take it off and re-use it or let someone borrow it.)

I miss Disaster Transport and Wildcat. DT was kind of lame, but it was decently fun and always appreciated for its air conditioned queue. Wildcat was just a solid mouse coaster with some crazy g-forces on it.
Mean Streak needed the help. It was rough and boring with 0 airtime. Not to mention they had to add brakes to the first hill, which was nuts.

Andy Vettel was a kid when Leap the Dips opened. He was the nephew or son of the Vettel Brother who designed coasters in the 'teens.
Also you show a pic of the Cyclone that was at Crystal Beach, Canada. It is a very different ride than the 1929 Cedar Point Cyclone. These kinds of errors should not pass an editor with basic knowledge of coaster history.

I don't think I'd qualify pipescream as as coaster. It's kinda lame. (Even if Cedar Fair is trying to cheat their way to 17 coasters)
