      No I just let him know he didn’t have to go home but he couldn’t stay in the shop. I put him outside. It’s 200 degrees in there with the doors shut and fans off. I doubt he would have wanted to stay the second night if he survived the first night.

    For people that are unsure about these bolt extractor sockets, they really do work in real life situations. I was doing a oil chand on a chevy 2500 and needed the 15mm. The person that did the oil change before me stripped the bolt as well as torqued it down 3 times tighter than they should of. I got these GW sockets and was able to get it off. The only thing that you need to know is you do need to put alot of pressure onto the socket while turning, or it will slip off if the bolt is really tight. Also can use a impact if you got the room, pushing on the back of the impact will definitely help out the process. Good luck with these, because if you need these sockets your probably in a bad situation.

      I ordered the 10 piece 1/2" drive Gear Wrench extractor set from Home Depot after spinning one of the phony capped lug nuts on my girlfriends Ram 1500 (and what an ego deflating experience that was for a DIYer). I tried to get a vice grip on it but not enough clearance and wasn't sure if the GW sockets would fit but they did. Backed that lug nut off slicker than snot and I went from zero to hero again. I ordered a complete set of one piece chrome plated lug nuts from NAPA for about $40 and replaced all the OEM ones (Dodge wanted $25 a piece for their OEM 2 piece crappy ones). I still have the bad apple as a trophy. Gear Wrench saved my bacon and now I have another tool in the arsenal and I'm thinking of adding the 3/8" drive set just in case. I also have their 5 piece magnetic spark plug socket set which works great on my 2006 Subie. I'm not a mechanic so my tools don't see daily use so take this testimonial at face value. Big thanks to all the professionals who share their time and knowledge (like this video!) so guys like me can have a little fun turning a wrench and maybe feel like a big dog!

    Somewhat off topic. I bought a set of Cornwell sockets a while back and I measured a couple sockets compared to my Snappy and Craftsman sockets. From what I recall the Cornwell was about a thousandth tighter than the Snappy and way tighter than the Craftsman. Granted the Snappy sockets were probably 10 years old and the Craftsman were significantly older than that. I often wondered how a new Cornwell socket (USA made, not BluePower) compared to the FDX. I’ve been tempted to buy a bunch of sockets and have an impartial machinist measure them for me. I also wondered if the FDX sockets were someone’s brilliant idea to get some more mileage out of worn out, undersized tooling.

      I have a couple sets of half inch drive metrinch sockets and they are very handy. They cover a big range of sizes and never had them round a bolt. We use the one set on impacts quite often. I’m looking for something similar in a smaller set for in a travel tool box and the bolt biters are the closest I’ve found so far.

    I feel like gear wrench bolt biters are more extractors and FDX sockets are more for reusing a rough bolt when the biters damage the bolt and you wouldn’t want to reinstall the cheezed up heads. Just opinion but great video. I personally won’t buy FDX sockets for the same reason, I’ll use my cheaper extractors and replace the damaged bolt, cause no body likes putting a bad bolt in, puts bad karma out there and that bad bolt will come back 😂

    Soooooo we don't talk about the fact that the FDX is marketed designed and sold for bolt with rounded corners? Obviously a six point socket doesn't grip a round piece of stock.... anyways apple's to oranges again. The informed already own the Irwin's we will wait to see what script gearwrench sends you for that one.

  • @callumjemison3299

    Good video but the gear wrench are a specialty socket whereas the snap ons are an everyday socket.

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the purpose of this video was all the comments about how the FDX sockets will do the same thing and clearly they will not

      Koon Trucking I see , I personally have both and I think both were worth their prices as the bolt biters are superb and as an everyday socket, the semi deep FDX’s are the best socket you will ever use imo

      @@callumjemison3299 As someone who turns wrenches on the side here in the rustbelt, pretty hard to say FDX is the best when they won't fit on half the fasteners here. I love snap-on but fdx's are more niche than everyday.

    Your comparing2 different types of tools a socket an a bult extrator.
    So I'd understand the video if anything it makes snapon look way better that there socket are so good they act as bult extrator s compared to gearwrench who can only make rachet wrenches an should stick to that...

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They whole purpose was in the original video we have a subscriber that wanted to see them head to head because some were saying the FDX would do what they do

      John B tell snappy that, their promo video on Facebook the voice over person talks about how the fdx can get those rounded off bolts out.

    Now that's really funny about you cheating when you demo the bolt biter sockets. I don't know what is expected of you when you do these Who does it better type video's or the impact testing video's. If I thought I was getting cheated I wouldn't watch. But I'm still wondering how you are going to get the best of me when I watch a video. Well as you can see I haven't left the room yet and I'm looking forward too tomorrows video! So keep them coming and myself along with the nay sayers will be front row

      The FDX advertises it takes off 80 or 90% rounded bolts right ? I didn’t come up with this test I just demo the Bolt Biters and everyone said put an FDX on it ? So that’s what I did
