Hi Danya, I really enjoyed seeing your appearance on the c-squared podcast. It was good getting to know you a little better as a person and chess player.
52:14 "and I hope people enjoy these detours just to give you a sense of how this tactic operates in real life" Danya, I would trade nothing, not even my pieces into a winning endgame, for your tactic detours in these speedruns
The memory is insane. "This one time when I was 9 years old my coach yelled at me for this exact mistake, proceeds to show the mistake. Oh we're playing this kid that I saw at one of the thousands of camps that I attend, and I happen to know his exact opening repertoire after seeing him play for 2 hours." I can barely remember the mistakes I made in yesterdays games.
@@musical_lolu4811 try to learn even 1 opening and i think you'll realise how impressive it is to remember thousands of random games like Daniel. remembering something you worked on for hours is kinda expected, but remembering millions of moves and being able to recall them at will is just insane.
It's funny that Danya says at the start that he's recording at 5am because he makes a couple verbal slip ups ("taking the knight" when he meant the rook, and seeds of defeat becoming seeds of victory 2 seconds later) Even so, he plays a great miniature, explains it perfectly, then says hey let's do another.
Dana I just want you to know that although you may not be increasing in views at a rate you want to be, you have so many loyal subscribers watching you. I started chess last year September and went from like 700 to now 2050 rapid due to your instructive videos. I went from little understanding of your moves to now a decent idea as yo why you choose to play moves and honestly has been the most powerful thing you’ve taught me, understanding the moves I make regardless of how good they are.

I cant express how much i enjoy these speedruns along with the rest of your content. Thank you sincerely for making these and kudos for being not just an obviously gifted chess player but for being such a good teacher.
Two back to back amazing games and the analysis is always jaw dropping. Just simple and effective tactics. Nothing crazy. These are principles that I am doing my best to implement into my style of play.
So cool to see Danya playing against players that I've faced in the rapid pool! There aren't really a lot of people around 2200 so you start seeing the same names over and over again
Maybe ironic isn't the best descriptor, but you announced you're tired and want a quick one and then are induced by circumstances to play two games. Well, it's okay by me - I very much enjoy these posts.
That idea of the end of getting rid of the pawn on 7th rank to "develop" completely escapes. He showed how strong the power was but I would have never seen this in a game. I would have spent all my time thinking of how to win using the pawn.
Guys if you like senseidanya's speedrun, don't forget to give him a like. This way, the TH-cam's algorithm will pick up his content so that he could reach his 500k subscribes goal by the end of this year. Sending love to sensei danya for putting out these amazing contents for us to learn chess
You have played many gambits in these speedruns. For example Danish, Smith mora, Vienna, Stafford. Would you ever consider doing a Gambit only Speedrun? (Excluding the Queen's Gambit as most players don't accept it)
Damn game 1 didn't feel close at all. Speaking of the Glek system I have been playing this against the sicialian, it is essentially a closed response by white with the fianchetto, it is solid and seems 'easy' to find good moves. I agree with Danya, black does not seem to know 'where to put their pieces' against this setup, leading to an imbalance and mistake in the middle game. FYI I am 1200 only.
I love the detours you take while doing post game analysis! One question, when you were showing examples of famous players playing Ra3, did you know those games by heart??
For the Glek does it matter exactly how black sets up or can you play it relatively regardless, a bit like Kings Indian etc. E.g. Does black have to start by getting both knights out for it to work for white as in this game?
Wonderful games, thank you! One question: at 17:45, wouldn't you just deliver a check first with Qd5+, then white gains a tangible advantage with the followup Bxa8 after Kh8?
@@musical_lolu4811 I did analyze the position after the move I mentioned. Qd5+..Kh8, Bxa8..Bxf1, Bc6..Ba6 (Be2 loses a pawn to Qe2..Bg4, Qxh6), Re1..Nf6, Qe6..Bc8, Qe7..Bf5, continues with Qxd8..Rxd8, Re7. Black is totally passive here, white controls the E file, has a Rook on the 7th and will likely win another pawn. The 2 bishops utterly dominate black's position, the black knight will have difficulty moving with a rook on the 7th and the dark squared bishop aiming down the diagonal.
Most times, Danya makes the games look so simple like one could replicate the moves. However, today's game two shows clearly the difference in class. A lot of those "obviously winning" and the tactics around e6, e7 and Ng5... those are not easy moves.
Something I never quite understood: Why is it a good plan to get rid of their e4 pawn? Aren't you giving away one of your central pawns in return? I guess I just don't see the clear advantage of it. I know it's a common theme in a lot of openings
The Vienna has been my white opening since 400 elo until 1400 elo (now). I find it deathly boring, I will try this system as it's similar but adds some spice.

They are easy moves because they are forcing. A move is only as hard as your ability to calculate or visualize as much as needed, period.

It prevents white from being able to win the bishop pair because black can tuck the bishop away on a7
