I’m only 2100 but I find this interesting as well- I think he’s super burnt out and tired at this point, and got that little fire under his butt once his intuition told him there was treasure in the position
Thank you Danya for making these videos. It’s such a blessing to have a strong grandmaster like yourself explaining complex chess games in such a simple manner for free. You are awesome.
Danya you are my NUMBER ONE TH-cam CHANNEL that I always scroll for and hoping you posted. I’ve said numerous times how much your work is appreciated and I won’t stop thanking you. You’re Fantastic at this, truly a gift of yours. I hope you enjoy what you do and get the utmost fulfillment from it.
I always feel like I can keep up with the calculations and start to see things since you are such a thorough instructor, but every once in a while you blitz out a crazy combination to checkmate in seconds and it humbles all of us mortals
This has got to be the best and most informative chess series on youtube. If I could offer one piece of constructive criticism, I think it is better when you play 15+10 for these games. 10+0 often seems to have time scramble endgames (which is very entertaining) but does not get the same level of depth that you give to the opening and middlegame, and I would very much value hearing more insights from you on endgames and how a GM thinks about them. I understand 15+10 can be a fair bit longer, but I think your audience is fine with that, assuming you have the energy to do so yourself. Thank you Danya very much, you are at the top of your game here.
Had a rough day but this game made me laugh really hard, the position quickly dissolving after those juicy tactics and then the time scramble checkmate in classic Danya fashion was perfection
Hi, Daniel! I have been watching your videos with Charlie from 3 years ago and the videos inally made me understand chess more clearly. I decided to give it a try on learning and now I'm solving puzzles to pass time! Thank you for getting me into chess. I think it was thanks to seeing how you care so much and how passionate you are about narrating moves that got me so into it! Keep up the amazing work you have being doing both as a streamer&youtuber and as a GM.
I just wanted to tell you I played an accelerated dragon today and I actually got to use some of the ideas of one of your first speedrun games! thank you very much~!
Incredible scramble and finish! I love these speed runs, they have helped me really improve my Sicilian/accelerated dragon game! Danya is absolutely the GOAT!
Great game by his opponent, f3 was brillant defense, it was super close. And brillant analysis, explaining the turning point quite , the hundreds tactics in that position, the traps, and what was happening under the surface GG
just in time ! I was recording your impression of Kasparov on the c^2 podcast, and got super excited when I caught a new video out of the corner of my eye
Hey Danya! I appreciate all the work you put into your Speedruns! I sent you a project idea in a Twitch whisper (and on Linkedin :D) the other day. I'd be so grateful if you'd take a look ☺️
I want to say that if Cambridge or a school like that would have a course on chess, this is that kind of level of quality. It seems to listen to your best university teacher do his stuff, it gives that vibes. And to me it's the biggest compliment
FINALLY! Another theory video that I will watch intently, but promptly forget it the next game I play! Nevertheless thank you, you are by far the best chess teacher out there, keep up the good work my man 🫡
So Danya's cheat mode is just being himself lol. It's amazing how quickly he can win from a losing situation against a 2200 player. I know he is being humble by saying that the opponent lost because of the time, but he had less time when he switched to "real" play.
Fun game to watch. Being a positional and attacking player, I would not have played the way Danya did, but then that is why I do not like speed games as works of art are often ruined by time scrambles. The notion that you choose moves with strengths and drawbacks is crucial to developing your chess beyond a certain level. Doing this and choosing moves that create unstable positions with more strengths than drawbacks is essential to creating and winning sharp games, which you have to do if you are seeking to efficiently increasing your rating or winning tournaments. The subject is covered in the book "Point Count Chess".
fun thing - on 6:26 if Nxc6 were to play, white could have pushed d5 right away, like 1.d5 ed 2.Nxd5 Qxd5 and the bishop on e7 can be safely captured by white's queen, thereby getting rid of the iqp. Or am I wrong and the line goes deeper? :)
Daniel, Israelian citizens need all the support they can get. I follow you for about a year now to know you are a moral and compassionate person, please let your subscribers know where you stand regarding Israel.
Besides the oops, I thought the coordination and development of the black pieces was beautifully organized and totally organic to the position. Nice game (except of course for the oops).
I like the opponent up until about 13:30 is just playing basic standard stuff, nothing too fancy or out of line, and Danya is just like "he's playing very high quality chess! This is a good game" as if they're in some complicated position or something
This game corroborates my theory that (in blitz chess at least) it's only players of 2200+ who actually calculate during the opening. Opponents of 2000+ usually play almost instantly until they have a losing position against Danya. This player actually used his time to think about moves and wasn't ahead on the clock. And, it was only when it got to a scramble that Danya could out-calculate him.
You have played many gambits in these speedruns. For example Danish, Smith mora, Vienna, Stafford. Would you ever consider doing a Gambit only Speedrun? (Excluding the Queen's Gambit as most players don't accept it)
Could you do a speedrun starting with your "mainlines"? Like starting with your opening of the Ruy Lopez, Najdorf, etc. Granted it's going to be more theoretical but you can still explain the main ideas of the Ruy Lopez when theory isn't played. This would be helpful for more advanced players especially with your experience in these lines.
That f5 move is a move that is not bad objectively, but I think that that move would pretty hard to conduct as a begginer. It dictated this whole game, for example, white had a simple gameplan of pointing every piece towards that pawn, and black had to play to curl into a ball to defend it, white didn't have to do anything special to get to that position. If white fails to create anything the worst that can happen is to be a bit passive, if black fails they get a pretty big disadvantage. For a begginer it is pretty easy to see "I need to point my pieces towards that weak pawn", but defending, having your pieces in the right configuration and finding resources is not easy. From an objective point of view of course that is not bad, but I think that this move gives white a way easier game, specially for lower rated players
Can people model their repertoire based on their style and not on their strength (elo),if so what are your recommendations for both tactical and positional players?
I know im asking a lot here but is it possible for you to do a speed run on Lichess? Im 1725 in ten min time controls on that site but cant break 1500 on this site. I feel like even people in the 2000's make moves i can understand and i dont get absolutely crushed. Meanwhile i get demolished often on this site.
I mean when i do open challenges to 2000-2400 i can play them and have won i think like against 4 2400s on this site and a few 2000's on lichess. But when i play lower rated i cant climb and get smashed.
Two possibilities. Ratings are extremely inflated on lichess or their cheat detection is significantly better. Woth the level of play i have experienced in open challenges of 2000s on both sites. I suspect its the second.
I appreciate the dichotomy between “compensatory” and pieces being “hella awkward” 😊
Okay, that is funny 😂
"Our pawns visit the orthodontist" is my new favourite Danya-ism
Eveeything is calm, clear, collected, and suddenly Danya unleashes and I'm like "what just happened"
I didn’t even register the checkmate when it happened XD
That checkmate at the end of the game was beautiful. Pawn checkmate for the win.
That ending was kinda scary cause he’s showing us, he’s using a fraction of his power. Did you see him sit up & boom, checkmate 20 seconds later
He was like "oops I blundered" and then conjured a checkmate out of thin air like some sort of chess wizard.
I’m only 2100 but I find this interesting as well- I think he’s super burnt out and tired at this point, and got that little fire under his butt once his intuition told him there was treasure in the position

Why not b6 at 6:01 preparing Ba6? Nevermind I just calculated more and that probably just loses a piece or development 😂

Not a chance. Danya is not retired. At your level you'll have to self-study or pay for that kind of information.
No slack for you! Cheers Danya.

sicilian in general is not beginner friendly opening and then that f5 move is definitely very tough to defend as a black
great game
That checkmate is insane…
If you really want to eliminate thee bishop was Nf4 not the best way? Is that move a blunder?
Can people model their repertoire based on their style and not on their strength (elo),if so what are your recommendations for both tactical and positional players?

Why can you not go Nf4 forking the Q & B instead of NB4 (3:36)
