Now I’m liking that you guys are liking some of the old school patterns. They work great here in Colorado. I tie a few of these using a deep purple sparkle chenille for the gills 👍🏼 nice tie and no frills (to your vids) - that’s a good thing
Thank for this great looking fly. I am fairly new to fly fishing and haven’t fished a beadless chrironomid before. Do you use some weight on your tippet to get it down still under an indicator or use a sink tip fly line? Also is the retrieve the same. Thanks. I learn so much from these videos and your Instagram. I am moving to Kamloops next year and getting excited for a full fall fishing.
Andreas Herbeck good day Andreas! Sorry I should have showed the process on camera. Basically I take the fly out of the vice and dip it into a bottle of acetone. The chemical reaction of the acetate floss in the acetone makes for a great shiny and durable Chironomid/buzzer body. Hope this helps! Tight lines!
Are you from Kamloops if so have you ever fished Edith Lake? I was there recently and had some success with a black leech pattern I was wondering if you have any recommendations on flys for Edith or Logan lake. Also great video
Alexander Willis thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for Edith lake, Chironomid patterns work from almost ice off to ice on. A gun metal, Zucchini or attractor style chronie pattern would be worth a try. Leeches are always good in black, black/red and olive. Logan lake is known for dark olive Chironomids, depending on the time of year. It unfortunately suffered a bad kill this year so fishing will be tough. Hope this helps! Tightlines!
Surplus Herbies has a package of flies done by these guys. Cronimin and flies. Killer patterns.
Definitely a killer fly! I substitute Ice Peacock dubbing and brown leech yarn for the wing. MUCH MUCH more durable!!!
Great ideas!

You can use a swivel above the fly to help sink it but even without it will eventually get there ;)
Nice video! Any chance you guys would do a tutorial video on a bucktail fly?
really nice buzzer. I did not understand something - what is bathing in acetone? Thank you for your answer!
