    I swam a 58.26 my first meet in the 50 then I watched your video after the meet and practiced all week and swam a 46.25 my second meet and I have my third meet this Saturday I’m shooing for low 30s. Your videos are a great help

    Well, the thing about faster turns is that you are turning forward momentum into rotational momentum. Then coming off the wall, you have to get under the back wash, which is all the water that you are pulling with you when you come into the wall. This was one of Michael Phelps' super powers. I have yet to see a flip turn video that even mentions this. For stroke rates, some of the sprinters are up to 115+ strokes/minute.

      @@hzrz107 i swam a 26 when I was 12 and to go faster the biggest thing is make your start and kickout better and more explosive, get your sprinting endurance up so you arent tired after the flip turn, and kick hard as you can while doing the stroke as hard as you can

    Hey! Love the video! I have a quick question…not sure if you can answer it or not. Right now, I have a 30.11 50 yard free in my travel league. I got a 29.55 in my local league, but that doesn’t count for my travel league, and I have only two more swim meets to make a regional cut, which is 29.29. I haven’t been able to get a 29 again, and I really want regionals. Recently, I changed my arms to where they are bent slightly and they go faster, but before this my arms went slower but they were straight. Could changing this back to straight arms make me go faster?

    Anyone know any good breathing drills I can practice over the summer? My number one critic from my coaches is I breathe to much in my races.

      Just practice breath control, do sets where you only take a breath every some amount of strokes, or do 25s/50s where you don't breath or take limited amount of breaths.

    I don't think after flip turn would remain the same speed because the wave brought before the flip turn would make the acceleration need more strength and hard swing of kick or dolphin kick .. this is my assumption please correct me if I am wrong .

      Hi I am 13 right now I want to start taking swimming more seriously and if things go well I would like to transition to 5 days a week as I had the opportunity this year but wanted to focus more on getting ready for highschool and I am on the track to get my Lifeguard courses finished I have done the first one and until Lifeguard international when I have to be 15 for that.I go to the gym and swim 3 days a week 3 days GYM i have plan set by my Cousin who Does Kayaking and competed in the olympics before and also got help from my aunt her mother.     I always get 52 seconds in 25 meters, I really want to get down to 45. What's strange is 25 meters is 23 seconds so it should be 46 but it's not.

    I’ve dropped 9 seconds in my
    50-yards Freestyle from….
    (45 seconds to NOW 37 seconds)
    ALL in ONE DAY!!
    MOST of that speed came from my
    “Pre-race nerves” in my body prior to before racing!
    Reminder’s for beginners..
    NOT all nerves in your body are bad!!
    As a matter fact, it actually helps you swim twice as faster than in training!!
    So DONT waste it & DONT worry!
    Relax when you get in the water,
    And Have fun racing!🙂❤️🏊‍♀️🏁

      @@YoTimeYo I know a sophomore that has a 23. I say you should work on techiche more than anything. Starts and underwater dare your fastest part of the race so work on those. Working out improves so much too.

    Anyone else feel that the faster they go into a turn, the more compressed their body feels and therefore the pushoff is slower? Example: basketball players don't do a deep squat when they dunk a ball.

      your analogy is kind of redundant since a “fast turn” is the opposite of doing a “deep squat” aka taking time to power up to do something, but i get what your saying. My teammate on my state/national qualifying colorado team struggled with what your saying and as it turns out the faster he flipped went into a turn, the more “compressed” and “slow” his body felt but to onlookers/timers/coach he was doing the fastest/best turns ever. Try asking someone to watch you do your turn and then a fast turn and see if they notice a beneficial difference you might not notice. :p

      You have to time your landing. Tuck tight into the turn but release the tuck about when your legs are out of the water and push off the wall at 90 degrees with toes pointed

      @@VStrizzy I should practice more, but there's a difference between my 200m speed turns and 50 speed. You get like 5 attempts before your body feels taxed.

      @@gregtogtema687 my team does jump turns in the 3 feet. you jump from the T into the wall and just push off and hold streamline. You go into the wall faster than you probably would swimming and its less energy expended I think. Good luck!

      @@kyrawayland2047 try to minimise head movement in both and try to limit breathing in the free. honestly when it comes to 50s you just have to absolutely send it with a high rate but still pull water. good luck and you got this!
