  • This was from a recent trip to RAF Valley in absolutely glorious sunshine on the 7th of March. This is not the best video we have ever done with Hawks, but it was sure lovely seeing them properly again from R13
The BAE Systems Hawk is a long standing resident at RAF Valley, Anglesey, and while it's only a trainer (progression from the Texan - see our other videos), it's an incredible jet non-the-less.
It has a maximum speed of 638mph/1,028kph, and a range of 2,520km with a crew of 2, max. It is powered by 1 x Rolls Royce/Turbomeca Adour Mk 151 turbofan. It is possible for it to carry armament.
We personally love these things. We lived close to one of the RAF runways on Ynys Môn for nearly 11 years and we never tired of hearing them! They are beautiful, and are part of the fabric of living on the Isle of Anglesey.

Great to see the RAF training new pilot's, growing up as a lad I dreamed of being a pilot, my uncle was a WW2 pilot, and he used to tell me a few stories about his time in the RAF, sadly he's no longer with us.

Sorry to hear about him not being here anymore - I'm sure he had some incredible stories.
I tried to join the RAF when I was younger. I got quite far, with aptitude tests, physical training and more, however I failed a later medical for something I still struggle with now. I was pretty upset about that.
It is great seeing the new pilots being trained, and we can always tell when there's a new batch.

The hawks are brilliant shhamme to see the t1 gone build more hawkst3 with attack capability on them as that what you need now small and fast

Totally agree, we didn't like seeing the T1 being taken out of service at all.

I have heard military trainer aircraft can be operated as ground-attack aircraft.

Yes, easily. The T1 was more than capable of carrying Sidewinder air-to-air missiles in addition to a 30mm ADEN cannon gun pod (BAE Systems). I doubt the T2 is any different.
